  • what a depressing song!! Not to mention the video.....I was saddened to tears :(

  • @elxenos1 that was some sexy hot mom though.

  • great song...the music...orchestration...guitar is a wonder...the...great...great...everything is great

music...feelings of sadness...and could make the toughest or happiest men cry

    if they understood the sentences

le vent...portera...immortalized by the 15th century poet francois villon...has more to do with ...gone...with the wind...and so on...hard to translate and to make feel

    a masterpiece...leaves sultans of swing...or whaterver...far below

    too bad..it's french...and too sad

  • Old times, nothing better..

Noir Désir for ever !

  • sorry i made couple of mistakes when i wrote earlier, apologise bout it ;)

  • Noir désir is from far the best rock band that France ever as,interesting to have the subtitle but theres so much tracks from then that deserve be translated as des armes,a ton etoile, des visages des figures,l'homme préssé,bouquet de nerf and the last record gagnant perdant that lots peeps think its anti-Sarkozy but it's more anti-politic lyers and hypocrisis...

  • I agree with you. Why tere so few tracks from them on YT - as it''s not from a lack of fans, I suppose it's a copyright problem. Even this video is illegal, my account have one bad point for that. May be Noir Desir is not responsable about that, but rather their producers. The result is just that Noir désir is less understood by foreigners, and so sells less album in foreign countries. I will never understan this logic - may be producers prefer their "control" than free publicity.

  • iti multumeste mama , iulian !

  • For me this video is reminiscent of a 2000 french movie in which a man suddenly disappear on a beach without any reason, one day, and without leaving any trace nor being found at all: "Sous le sable" ("Under the sand"), by director François Ozon, with anglo-french actress Charlotte Rampling

  • manu chao on the guitar, am i right?

  • Right ;)

  • What's nice about Noir Désir is that you may not understand the poetry of words, yet you may feel that something through the music. Their last album, Des Visages, des Figures, released a few days before 9/11... Listen to Le Grand Incendie... Best French album of the decade!

  • I agree with you, the melody is really closed to the poetry of the words. unbelievable . About 9/11, I really cannot say. In France, about this album, some do not think about 9/11, but just say "des visages" -"dévisage" (which sound same in French). A real great song anyway.

  • this is so beautiful.

  • in the second verse, "Des méandres au creux des reins" better translates as "wandering at the small of the back" rather than the "hollows of thighs."

    thanks for posting this video.

  • Let's wait ...

  • Is this a song about that we all will die some day ? Or I get It wrong...

  • imho, I do not think so. The song seems to say that all things that make our live, relationships, love etc, will become dust that the wind spread out. For me, the author says that happiness cannot be a joy, because nothing can be done to avoid it will disappear one day. But I'm not the author, and I would accept other explanations about this songs. I you feel it's about death, may be your are right. Anyway... a sad song :)

  • Maybe not exactly it's about death rather about that everything passes away but motive with changeing everything into dust (or gray sand - like on vid) is in christian religion comparable with death.

I'm basing my opinion on english translation. Probably someone French-speaking or fan of this performer could explain more.

  • ho yes, dust (in the lyrics) or sand (in the vid), are obviously, at "minimum", christian vocabulary. As a French listener, I must say that the words of the song are not "heavily" religious. It's just a normal (except talent) way of speaking. Anyway, the subject seems to be the deny of any hope, and of course it leads to religious questions for anyone that want too. But it's more in the subject than in the lyrics. Let's wait for a specialist of Noir Désir philosophy to comment it :).

  • Magnifique! Grande musique!

  • thanks alot! great job!

  • magnifique!!!

  • merci: c'est magnifique.

  • thank you!!very good work with the translation..

p.s.: i hope that next year the song will "survive" Valentines Day!!

  • Merci.

    Je transmet vos remerciements à

clairedelune49 qui a fait cette traduction et les sous-titres.

  • magnifique

  • Wonderful. It's very deep, but simple.

    Heart touch.

  • Thanks to philipchek for reposting this video which disappeared from YouTube on Valentines Day along with 156 others as if the wind carried them off, but actually it was the business people who control the media and want to sell it to you instead of share it.
