I've been playing with electrical tape on the area where my hand meets the strings lately (Out of necessity, the callus there tends to break open in the winter months and bandages get shredded up too easily), and it's not that hard to get used to it.

I don't know if you want my opinion, but even when I play my instruments in front of people I don't know live, I wear a mask. It just makes me feel safer and away from the crowd. It helps reduce nervous nerves and also gives me that feeling of mysterious. I don't know if that is Niku-san no reason, but it might be close. If not, she has her reasons.
