Guru? Not even close. Photo retouching is all all about non-destructive editing. Making a selection and using Hue & Saturation from the menu is just a poor way of doing things.
It's much better to use a Hue & Saturation adjustment layer, it will not only automatically create the proper mask based on the current selection, but also doesn't touch the original, it allows for adjustments at ANY time, even days later, plus it allows for a quick before & after whenever you feel like it.
I have to say I'm not that impressed... I was expecting a far more advanced level.
I appreciate your effort though, I'm sure it's helping a lot of beginners out there!

On top of that, you'll never lose the original selection and you're basically documenting your adjustments.
