  • this is awesome.where did you find this?

  • Violent J

  • The original Maniac was one of the few horrors that creeped me out. :D

  • billys voice hahahahahahahaha

  • This would have been amazing, but as it's quite clear, joe was not well, he really did some hard livin apparently

  • @saintgauden haha yea, i found out recently, i couldnt stop laughing when i found out xD

  • man kills people who do nasty things. a really crazy freaked out and unstable version of dexter anyone???

  • Great stuff. I love the original, but does anyone know what (if any) the connection between the films would have been? Was it to be a sequel in name/tone/theme only or was there to be some type of store bridge? Either way, I would love to have seen this completed.

  • *some type of story bridge?

  • @SchaefDizzle It seems like a name only sequel really. If you notice the guy asks Spinell "Are you going home to your mother tonight?" and he says "Yeah, I'm gonna see her.". Frank Zito's mother in the original 'Maniac' was dead and she was basically what drove him to kill people, so the fact that she's supposedly alive in this one doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

  • @adamxbeck

I always got the impression that when he was attacked by the women/mannequins (but actually stabbing himself in the stomach) at the end of the first movie, he realized what he did and why, so after the cops left (at the end of part 1), he somehow managed to get away, skip town and start a new identity (Mr. Robbie) unrecognized by officials because he wears the clown makeup on TV. Because his mother was abusive, he changed targets to abusive parents. But he still has visions of her

  • @gamermuzz Good theory, although he's still in New York City, so he definitely didn't skip town. The police would be all over him too as they know his name and what he looks like. His picture would be on the front page of every newspaper in the city. Even if they didn't recognize him from wearing the clown makeup on TV, he still wouldn't be able to cash paychecks made out to "Frank Zito". He'd have to assume a fake identity with a new social security number, driver license, etc.

  • @adamxbeck

Hey, if Lucas can get away with the plot holes in episodes 1-3, they could have pulled this off! LOL

It's definitely not without flaw, but I'd like to think the movies would have somehow been connected like that:)

  • I like the song that plays right when the mexican guy comes, whats it called?

  • @RAlmofti96 I think the song you are referring to is "Automatic" by the Pointer Sisters. The deep voice you hear singing is actually a woman...you often hear this song in GTA-Vice City.

  • wow that sounds like such a good idea for a sequel!! i wish they would have made the full movie!!

  • I wish to Joe this film had got properly made and finished.

    The trailer looks sweet.

    And Joe looks intense.

  • Damn, that's a novel premise for a slasher film. Shame it never got completed. It'd be great if Giovinazzo was able to get it off the ground again with another actor one day.

  • @Lexx2 - Joe actually got the idea for 'Maniac 2' from a movie he saw in the mid 70's playing on 42nd street called "The Psychopath" starring Tom Basham. It's basically the exact same premise. Basham plays a kiddie show host named "Mr. Rabbey" and he goes around killing abusive parents. I think the only difference is is that instead of dressing up like a "clown", he does a puppet show and plays the piano.

  • i really wish this was finished

  • @mikemunyon1 me tooo

  • Contrary to what Wikipedia says, this film actually did get the finances necessary to make the full movie. But unfortunately Joe passed away unexpectedly before shooting began. To bad this movie would have been so bad ass.

  • Sid Haig would be good as Mr. Robbie if they made it now, but nobody comes close to Joe.

  • @IrishRebel1862 i disagree, i think that the best candidate for Mr. Robbie if they made it now is Johnny Depp. but obviously no one comes close to Joe

  • @beatarmy22 man i love Depp, but he is no Zito, i could see him Ash in an Evil Dead remake, or as a Sawyer brother from the original TX.CS.M movies, maybe Tex.

  • 7:40 was that his 'last breath'?

  • really wish it was made r.i.p joe

  • whats the spanish speaking man doing? selling somthing?

  • This is AMAZING---never even heard a sequel was being made. Thanks for posting.

  • Joe Spinell died with the project itself, nobody can replace Joe. RIP J.S.

  • I wish they would do this now. I mean, it's an open project, anyone could do this story and finish it!

I know it's to pay respect to dear ole' Joe, but the plot's just too exciting to just let go!

c'mon Hollywood (or other indie-studios out there). use the plot and properly handle the rights, cuz it's going to be a blast!

  • I would of loved to se this film finished!

But its better to se this than nothing at all

atleast we get the idea ;)

  • i wish it was made too its so cool

  • very cool...I wish this could have been made...I loved Maniac

  • Damn! Didn't know there was an extended version of this promo reel. Totally bad ass. I love how gritty this short film is. Could have been sick and demented like the first film. RIP Joe Spinell

  • its a pity that joe died.....

  • love this short. joe spinell is the man.

  • dear mista robbie
