I reallly don't think so because if you look at his fingers when he plays the first chords it's 244222 and he takes off his pointer finger to play 044222. and if you play that in standard it doesn't sound right if you drop everything a half step then it sounds perfect.

I guess you CAN play it in standard tuning but you'd have to play 133111 instead and you wouldn't be able to take off your pointer to play 033000 (well i mean you can but it wouldn't sound right)
