@beepyepyep "The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes." Do this and I promise you everything else will fall into place.
@beepyepyep theres just more of you to love, the right girl won't love your for your body, she'll love you for your heart, your mind and your unique essence.
There's been a bunch of QUALITY Alan Watts tribute vids on youtube lately, which is freaking awesome! Two of them struck me as particularly good - "The Real You" by melodysheep is very hip & "The Way of Waking Up" should've been called "shazam", or "Satori 101"...both we're EXTRA good! And after all, Alan's echo needs to be heard - NOW more than ever, folks.
The Ego, Fear & Desires - transcendence of these is the pathway to the temple!
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a RESOUNDING GONG or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am NOTHING. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain NOTHING.
I am patient. I am kind. I do not envy nor do I boast. I am not proud, rude, self seeking, easily angered and I keep no record of wrong doing. I do not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. I always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres and never fail. I am love.
I am - a force of my desires(!), passions(!) - that's love and hatred to surround people, instead of thinking and words about them.
When the person grows spiritually, he starts to take responsibility on himself - begins to love and hate himself. But when he come in area of final self-knowledge - he understands, that more material people(relatives, neighbours, chief, the father and mother - most important (!)), are responsible for evil. Then he starts to hate them, and to love himself.
One leaves the ocean of love to venture through the womb of life, so as to forget one is loved unconditionally. No greater joy is there, then the surprise of finding this ocean again.
We are god but god doesnt even know what it is, how can it with no beginning no end truely is a pointless question to ask, so just 'let it be' as Paul McCartney would sing. Other words... stop looking and you will see all you need to know.
Dont dwell on the question, the only reason it interests you is it has no answer. You can only BE the answer. Dwell on the answer, Nisargadatta's "I am that", like he said, by completely disregarding everything you are not, which is anything describable, anything with any label or property that the mind attempts to give it.
The answer to the question "Who am I?" is a lot more simple, than a lot of people think.
The essence that you are is consciousness itself. Everything is consciousness or energy. You are the "I Am that I Am". You are birthless and deathless consciousness, you are quite literally infinite.
And yes, it is indeed mysterious. We cannot see our true essence.
Every human perception, thought, decision and action is a product of the degree and quality to which one accepts and conveys the underlying law of nature.
Google it (i.e., the underlying law of nature).
New information about the underlying law of nature has been made available online very recently.
I am part and parcel of everything that has ever existed and everything that ever will exist. To experience life, even for a fleeting moment, is to know the truth of existence.

Who am I? This question was answered over 40 years ago. "I am he As you are he As you are me And we are all together Coo-coo-ca-ju" As Scootman leers at the belly dancer, he wonders,"Am I bored or enraptured?" ZB is still searching for an answer, but he won't be content until someone ELSE tells him he has it. Okay. I'll play along. "You got it right, ZB." kosai19's eyes are deafening. STFU, will ya? phil's sis=NO-it-all Baba stirs the pot and licks his lips like Pavlov's dog. Arf! Arf!
Holy books, diet books, self help books, guidance councillors, religious leaders, politicians and mystics exist so that people can avoid to confront the very things in life they say that they want.
If I ask myself "Who am i?" i only need to understand that this question is irelevant for me as long as i realize that "I am, I exist" and nothing more. If i realy understand that there is no need to understand anything else ever.
Sure sure, but who is it that is realizing "I am, I exist"?
It's kinda like the movie The Matrix. How to explain to someone in the matrix that the you you think you are, isn't. It's a computer construct. Similar idea.
You are most certainly not your own creation, and had nothing to do with your being. No more than a tree is responsible for its being, or a cloud, etc. Even science has finally admitted the existence of a life energy that is beyond the collection of cells that appear to form your solid body, which is not solid. The belief in self creation is an attempt by the ego to define something it has no clue about...
I totally agree with you - We each control every thought and action in our seeming physical existence, but that has NOTHING to do with how we came to be...you had nothing to do with your creation, and if you don't believe that, that's fine - truth will make itself known and cannot be altered by our beliefs to the contrary.
I am interested in what you are saying....It seems that almost everyone says that you are your own creation. All new movies and books... can you tell me anything more or anyone to read to learn more?
Thought: You did NOT create yourself, though you create with every thought...as you were created in the thought of another. Be responsible in your thoughts...

would you ever really want to? if or when you do you would stop and to stop is to die. i guess we'll all get to taste that too, eventually. maybe death is a kind of root. perhaps there is a kind of ecstasy in death in the stillness and knowing within it. and then you maybe at that point say, lets do it again! i want another go! haha :)
all those parts of our identity, "the goth" "the smart one" they're just the images and things we've seen and like and try to hold on to, by then they're just dreams that we try to wear like a suit of clothes. it's sometimes hard to let go of some of them, but being is possible when we stop trying to be something, and whenever we are being, well... :)
Thou art so close to the eyelids that thou art closer to the eyelids than the eyelids themselves, and therefore you are more mysterious than the eyelids... to an extent... o Self.
I slept with the most beautiful girl I ever saw in my life. Wasn't anything great about it. Seeing her for the first time was better. Seeing her for the first time was everything.
We ask such questions because we can know stuff to be true. Otherwise we wouldn't ask the question. We are creatures who are reasonable. But if all we are is a species carried by survival then we cannot know anything to be true. Survival is not the same as truth...only useful. SO we have to assume that there is a part of us that was not created by nature that helps us to grasp that which is true. Therefore there is an ultimate Reason at the center of our lives and the universe.
but i do think that us, humans, are very strange, because we force out imagination to new levels, and we rise in technology, and knowledge.. Its like stairs, but where is the top of the stairs? does it end? some day were going to fall off the top of the stairs.
Our ability to use language effectively is a function of consciousness and mind together. Consciousness is viewing or reading the mind, and the mind is thinking or speaking the words.
Our sentences are egoic expressions of naming-states. Ifeel-hungry means: I am (the state of) feeling-hungry. The name feeling-hungry is the stimulus, expressed as the moment in simple terms. The name is now. A moment, expressed due to an observer and intelligence, is my present state of being; therefore it is me that is expressed. Language hence, is a mechanism of the mind, not consciousness; one can experience events without language to describe them.
Your message is unclear. I am therefore I think, this means that we are here, reality exists, the only detirmine left to be understood is WHAT. What are the principle characteristics and essences of reality. Space and Time. Time is both matter and energy, or the motion of that matter. But since physics has shown that matter is energy condensed, then everything is energy. Therefore time is only energy. So reality is composed of Time and space. And space is Nothingness, endless. They contrast.
Thank you for proving my point. Space is nothingness as matter (atoms) is somethingness; the two are contrasting in nature and help to measure eachothers distinct infinit potential. The depth of their relationship is great, as selfsimilar patterns exist to show us the way to understanding. Eg. The consciousness vs the brain and intelligence (which is dependantly determaned by physical means). This is poetically divine, and evokative of the notion of god, which to me is simply Reality Divine.
I is not important when death comes. I, ego, is not important in death, but I is very important in life. Life is the time of the physical, in the existence of existence. After life, I will not exist in its divisive form. I will be They.
I is experience. Experience is gods reflection; we are the mirrors to reality—whatever is inside of us is important, if only to existence: for there to be an ear for the falling tree in the forest to be heard and appreciated.
our inner buddha,or christ , that nondual and very aware part. Yet, we are rushed off to school and head-ucated and become sometimes so left brained and overly mental ,lacking the full spectrum .... yet we reflect where we are historically , at the cusp of pisces and Aquarian ages... soon enough enlightment will be common as man evolves. the AQ age will be liberating.... as we become one with the whole, sorta bee hive mind set ,all-one .
I am (a wiggle) of the Universe. So because a wiggle CANT exist alone. We can say; I am (implicitly) the all Universe. and I am (explicitly) myself, a mind and a body in a bag of skin. Both are true. Timeless Wisdom of the great philosophers & mystics. Be well to all human brothers & sisters. Alan Watts was and still is an awesome philosopher. Thanks for sharing
simply change 'who am I' to a statement rather than see it as a QUESTion and then you will understand the meaning entirely. for you see the concept of 'I' is merely an extension of all WHO cometh before me, myself and I. so it is WHO of all people that makes me for who I am. I'm still not through yet, I didn't say that I meant to invert the question. rather it is the collective 'who' that I am a part of, and not apart from. JUH GIT IT??? THANKUHVURMUCH
P.S.: If you want World PEACE, then please Read and Recommend "THE ART OF PEACE" by Morihei Ueshiba, (founder of Aikido - the martial art of love), to Everyone you Know and Love. Thank You. (So Be It.)
Beautiful. Amazing use of Stock/Archival footage. Love especially the timelapse of the tree growing. And in the end where the clown wipes of his make up and you cut to the little native girl staring in the same way. There's a connection. Quit your job, or school, or zen training. Make more videos. Please share more. Only through creativity will we be able to end corruption. Only through sharing our insights will we be able to ungrasp from our desires. Youtube was made for moments like this!
There is a wonderful seminar i went to,, where you just sit around and answer this question, Who Am I, with another person. It was the most powerful thing. the seminars are called "enlightenment intensive" google it if you want to go further.
I have thoughts, so I must exist. Or am I thought itself? Do thoughts just happen of themselves, and naturally come to the conclusion that there must be a core, an "I" that creates them. Can thought not accept itself as a lone entity that exists of itself, independent of physicality? Thought definitely exists. Thought is not sure if "I" exist. Or, thinking is not sure if "I" exist. But thought most definitely is sure that thought exists.

Happiness is the most important "thing" in mankind.
blow bubbles,
listen to music,
call people,
laugh,
forget the bad in the world,
think positive,
smile.

Are you sure about that?
You dont know how it feels to live,
till you know how it feels to die :/
but i do think that us, humans, are very strange, because we force out imagination to new levels, and we rise in technology, and knowledge..

Language hence, is a mechanism of the mind, not consciousness; one can experience events without language to describe them.

... if there were a "one" to experience something ;)
Actually "one" cannot experience anything since it depends on the "anything" to exist. It's the dependent origination thing.
Not realizing this, we keep on believing Münchhausen and his story about pulling oneself up by your bootstraps.

They contrast.
phvalue323 3 years ago
space isn't nothingness, because you cant have nothing without something, the universe must have both to exist
cprahl 3 years ago 5

Experience is gods reflection; we are the mirrors to reality—whatever is inside of us is important, if only to existence: for there to be an ear for the falling tree in the forest to be heard and appreciated.

me myself and a higher self???
our inner buddha,or christ , that nondual and very aware part.

The mind and the universe create each other through the union, or yoke.
Without both, both cease
Who am i is not as important as who are we or we are one
who are you?

simply change 'who am I' to a statement rather than see it as a QUESTion and then you will understand the meaning entirely. for you see the concept of 'I' is merely an extension of all WHO cometh before me, myself and I. so it is WHO of all people that makes me for who I am. I'm still not through yet, I didn't say that I meant to invert the question. rather it is the collective 'who' that I am a part of, and not apart from. JUH GIT IT??? THANKUHVURMUCH
