@hheintze1 Yeah i totally get what you're saying. However some "easy to use" beginner distros like Pinguy OS come with it pre-installed. I cant imagine why my grandma or some average computer-illiterate joe would need to see how much ram they're using or their CPU load. I'm not even sure if they would know what it would all mean! XD
Hi Sneeky I have tried this Distro and the only bug I found was alsa not installed properly and issues with volume. However I resolved those issues myself.
Hey sneekylinux! i am acquiring a dual core 500mhz g4 mac. with a gig of ram. i want to use it as a jukebox. what software/distribution do you reccomend? (must work on ppc processor.)
@miscible21 Well, i dont really see the point to be honest :), You can just install debian and then change from gnome or whatnot to openbox. But I aint against new distributions at all.. I just dont see the point very often.
@actionpackedPIVII i think the point is mate that peeps are willing to try to make new stuff for general linux audience, and do remember they are only both 15 years old, bit like the boys from zorin when they started.
@actionpackedPIVII You can do that with just about any Linux distro. But I'd like to think that the idea of doing it from scratch is still appealing to some of us. Especially with a distro like Debian or Arch as your basis. I still don't have the time or the know how to do it myself. Nor do I have a second machine to mess around on. I run Kubuntu on our home pc which other family members use. It doesn't encourage one to tweak much. But like I said, maybe one day I'll do something like this:-)
I dont really get the appeal of using Conky. I usually disable it as soon as i can on distros that have it.

@SteveTheMovieTheGame Some people use it for monitoring system load, in some situations this is important. although i only run in on backtrack.

Nice, I quite like not having panels, I've been using openbox in microcore and it's bleeding fast.

@hheintze1 you should be able to use base debian for ppc, and go from there

I love the idea of Debian and Openbox. Wish I could do something like this myself.

@sneekylinux Wow! 15? That makes me feel a bit silly. I'm 24 and I can barely rock the terminal lol.
