I don't like people who text in movies, I don't like people who talk in movies, I don't like people that make obnoxious sounds in movies... but I CAN'T STAND people who walk out in the middle of a choir performance, or try to make their coughs quiet so the audience can hear the song. If you're sick, DON'T COME!
yeah, i don't know why every conductor does it so fast... i guess i am a bit partial to a slower tempo because i am trying to learn it and this song is damn hard!!!
Most conductors would take it fast for many reasons, one maybe their choir cannot handle the phrasing and need it at a faster tempi so the line isn't lost, and also another reason is Lauridsen is very picky about his tempo, he has said before that choirs that try and send him tapes of them singing his songs and if it is a few clicks from the tempo he wanted he wont listen to them! so conductors try and make sure to try and keep his interpretation of the song.
@hideyourbuttchuck Dont worry, once you learn it, it will be like second nature to you, i thought it was hard at first too but when i learned it, the only hard part was trying not to zone out on it because of how beautiful it was! :D
my chorus sang this a littler slower lol but every director does it diffrent thats what makes the song unique each time you hear it good job bythe way!
Its was a beautiful sound. I thought this song was sung too fast and on parts of it, it should have been balanced better, and blended. They should have taken there time and enjoyed the beautiful music they was producing.
Thank you for a lovely rendering of this sensitive masterpiece. The flexibility of tempo energized the text... an excitement grew out of the piu mosso; AND the tenuto accentuating the exquisite dissonance just before the last chord...
Gah, finally this song is done right. My Concert Choir is performing it for our spring concert and we just can't do it justice. It's a bummer, man. It's gotta be done well or not at all. This is gorgeous though.
This song touches my heart. Riverview High School,, Sarasota, FL is going to sing this for our District Competition god is beautiful. Great Job! dynamics and feeling are shown in your singing. haha and the grand pause left me hanging and sent chills. the only thing that sucked was the cougher...
This song is so pretty! I'm singing this song with my choir in January at the heritage festival in Washington DC on the week of inaugaration. The french is kind of hard at first, but when you get it, its AMAZING!
This video has some of the best Dynamics I've ever heard.
You achieve a TRUE Fortissimo at the climax of the piece and then you add so much emotion to it by the immediate switch to Piano....it's so beautiful, thank you for this.
you guys sang this song very well. I just sang this song with my choir and we prepared by watching this video because it was the best we could find on YouTube. Once again, amazing job and thanks for posting this and helping the Bishop Hartley Concert Choir prepare to sing this beautiful song!
Best on youtube its beautiful you guys. I plan on doing this with my choir next year. The balance is very nice!!! Great Job. Love dynamics you studied this piece very well.
Lovely performance. I look forward to performing this beautiful work one. Where is NWMSU? I'm assuming this is college group. (poor person recording....those coughs sound terrible!)
Northwest Missouri State, so as you can see where from Missouri, and the city is Maryville. :) thanks so much for the comment, and I know the coughing is bad but you work with what ya got:)
very nice, great blend and good dynamic. :)

Thought the tempo was a little to fast and ruined the song for me. Shoulda been a little slower so the audience could really feel it. Just sayin

IT SO FAST ! , destroys the meaning & romantic effect of the song.

Note to all choir directors: Never hold a beautiful concert when the whole audience has the avian freaking bird flu. Honestly, what a shame.
