Most conductors would take it fast for many reasons, one maybe their choir cannot handle the phrasing and need it at a faster tempi so the line isn't lost, and also another reason is Lauridsen is very picky about his tempo, he has said before that choirs that try and send him tapes of them singing his songs and if it is a few clicks from the tempo he wanted he wont listen to them! so conductors try and make sure to try and keep his interpretation of the song.

Its was a beautiful sound. I thought this song was sung too fast and on parts of it, it should have been balanced better, and blended. They should have taken there time and enjoyed the beautiful music they was producing.
