This was an anointed show. Father God is really using Aretha..... I love too praise the Lord. Jesus Christ is Lord and it is going to be a great day when we all get together and continuously praise him. Aretha did a wonderful job. LOVE IT TO LIFE.

Aretha is part of the American quilt. She sang for the queen of England also. She is about 68 years of age and still sounds better than some of the new young talent today. She sang not sing you see in the Black comunity we have many of great singers that never get a chance. When you don't know God you will make evil comments. She had just been told she had cancer and wanted to show people what God can do for you if you keep the faith.
It really is amazing she can sing as well as she can at near 70 years of age. Some people like to say she does not sound like she used to.....and that is true,but even now she sounds better then alot of these new artist. Besides keep in mind that she has been singing since she was 5 years old.....that's alot of miles on her voice.
For me, Aretha singing Amazing Grace, was the highlight of the show. Her voice has aged like a fine wine. So rich, so full, so lush and powerful. Beautiful! Amazing! Never to be forgotten.

Oprah was crying because it was homage being paid to her. Aretha didnt sound HORRIBLE, BUT a lot of people thought so. Being a fan doesnt mean sticking your head in a hole. At the funeral, she sang it in e-flat, during both Oprah performances, (This one and the one from like 2001 or 2003), she sang it in F major. This is a whole step's difference which is a difference, I assure you.

ARETHA still is the greatest singer HISTORICALLY but now her voice is too hit or miss. YES on HERE this song sounds actually good but when i heard it on the show LIVE on tv, IT wasnt stellar. The testimony at the end when she tries to go into her upper register is EXTREMELY weak. She STARTED off fine but then she tried the acrobatics that she doesnt do well to make it work. baby get over it. aretha needs to sit down. i have been with her since columbia. her voice has changed MORE than ANY other artist there is. Aretha has made BAD choices on singing style. She sang with power until the mid 70's then she started that darn whispering like mariah does and singing a lot of songs in her lower register live. THEN the huskiness came in around 81 which is my favorite Aretha era. THEN that falsetto started getting more prevelant from 1997 til now.

I hate to say it but just by Aretha's look here, I can see Aretha gaining back the weight she lost. No matter if it was weight loss surgery or not, Some people who have had the surgery, have been reported to gain the weight back because there not disciplined. I just hope she stays on track and doesn't start with the up and down yoyo systems she's dealt with over the years.
I can tell the A/C was on which we all know Aretha doesn't like. You can tell because of the cracks in her voice at the beginning of the song. Everytime Aretha takes a break from singing and comes back her first few performances are "ok". Then people start questioning her voice. But I know right after those first few performances she comes out SINGIN!! So just wait another performance or two and then she'll be back on track. It was even that way before the weight loss.
Im not an expert on singing but I know when somebody wraps you in a warm embrace with their voice in a way that makes you feel like no matter what everything's gonna be alright and Aretha does this like no other because she bares her soul in every note every syllable...long live the Queen

I must have missed something. Aretha is sAngin' the song. She is not doing anything but singing the gospel, and sometimes, this is how gospel music is done. You take your time with it as the spirit leads. I betcha (bet you) somebody was touched by THAT rendition right there. If Aretha had three notes left in her voice to sing, I bet she would still sing like nobody else.

but NOW she CANT touch what she did so she needs to leave it alone because MOST of america REALLY isnt a die hard Aretha fan where they FOLLOW her so when MOST non fans heard this, they asked "what is wrong with her voice". She did fine to ME but I am judging her on how she has been sounding for the past 20 yrs and YES this was good in comparison BUT most people can give two flips about Aretha so they still think she sounds like Freeway, Something He can feel, and rock steady.

Also don't speak for most of America, you can only speak for yourself. Aretha is a legend and she is honored and treated as such. Look at the influence she has made on the musical world both direct and indirectly is all on the back of this one lady. Aretha is an old woman, she is not going to sound like she did all those years ago.

ARETHA still is the greatest singer HISTORICALLY but now her voice is too hit or miss. YES on HERE this song sounds actually good but when i heard it on the show LIVE on tv, IT wasnt stellar. The testimony at the end when she tries to go into her upper register is EXTREMELY weak. She STARTED off fine but then she tried the acrobatics that she doesnt do well to make it work. She does a nice job of make them hear you but Aretha SHOULD not touch this song again. SHE OWNED THIS SONG IN THE 70'S

@almightyfire1 Aretha is still the greatest along with Ella PERIOD! She has never stopped being a great singer. The quality of her voice on TV was way better than this. Look at Oprah, she is in tears as the Queen is sing her heart out. You are stuck in the past that you are too blind to know that Aretha is still that great singer she was all those years ago. baby get over it. aretha needs to sit down. i have been with her since columbia. her voice has changed MORE than ANY other artist there is. Aretha has made BAD choices on singing style. She sang with power until the mid 70's then she started that darn whispering like mariah does and singing a lot of songs in her lower register live. THEN the huskiness came in around 81 which is my favorite Aretha era. THEN that falsetto started getting more prevelant from 1997 til now.

I hate to say it but just by Aretha's look here, I can see Aretha gaining back the weight she lost. No matter if it was weight loss surgery or not, Some people who have had the surgery, have been reported to gain the weight back because there not disciplined. I just hope she stays on track and doesn't start with the up and down yoyo systems she's dealt with over the years.

I can tell the A/C was on which we all know Aretha doesn't like. You can tell because of the cracks in her voice at the beginning of the song. Everytime Aretha takes a break from singing and comes back her first few performances are "ok". Then people start questioning her voice. But I know right after those first few performances she comes out SINGIN!! So just wait another performance or two and then she'll be back on track. It was even that way before the weight loss.

Im not an expert on singing but I know when somebody wraps you in a warm embrace with their voice in a way that makes you feel like no matter what everything's gonna be alright and Aretha does this like no other because she bares her soul in every note every syllable...long live the Queen

I must have missed something. Aretha is sAngin' the song. She is not doing anything but singing the gospel, and sometimes, this is how gospel music is done. You take your time with it as the spirit leads. I betcha (bet you) somebody was touched by THAT rendition right there. If Aretha had three notes left in her voice to sing, I bet she would still sing like nobody else.

She does a fine job of dont play that song and dr feelgood. today i sing the blues etc. she CANT soar at all like she used to and it has to be frustrating to her to open her mouth and have to struggle to get a note out that she hasnt hit in yrs. @almightyfire1 Sweety, you are way too focus on range than you are really singing. If you want someone that does nothing but hit high notes all day than listen to Patti and that is all you will get is range and nothing else. Aretha give you her all whether she is hitting the highers of high note or the lowest of low notes and everything inbetween. Aretha doesn't no struggle today nor has she ever really have, you just said it yourself SHE IS THE GREATEST AND THE GREAT DON"T STOP FOR NO ONE!

most people I know and dont know asks what was wrong her voice. Most NON FANATICS havent really heard her sing live in yrs and vocally here she sounds so inferior to what most remember from the 70's through the late 80's. So to them she sounds horrible BUT to people who have been with her through the ups and downs of her voice finds this performance stellar but in all actuality a lot of people found her voice weak in spots where the strength was needed,

Aretha has been very visible over the years. They are saying they don't like her rendition and that it's too slow. If you look at their pages they are all young white folks who don't get this. I think she DOES sound good but NO WHERE NEAR WHAT IT WAS 20 yrs ago and yes i know she is a 70 yr old woman BUT black people arent forgiving AT ALL when it comes to vocal demise. I went to see Diana Ross and her voice was perfect except she didnt hit that note that she sings in the bridge of the boss but non the less she sounded like she did yrs ago. Went to see GLADYS KNIGHT last yr and OH MY GOD, sang EVERY song in the original key and no cracks.

Your mind is stuck in the past and as of right now you should be worrying on the right now! Why are you such a wish washy Aretha fan..? If your worried about notes, watch this performance again. Two SUSTAINED and POWEFUL F5s in MIXED VOICE. Some C5 runs in full voice. Do you know how long it's been since Aretha ditched falsetto and belted in mixed voice ?? Her voice is in much better condition. She even belted G#5 on the Jimmy Kimmel show.
Please get things together before you criticize her.

I DONT want her legacy to turn into that which it is in the black community. Just like Whitney, people are NOT remembering WHO she WAS but who she is NOW. Aretha legacy will never be tarnished, I don't know where you are getting this stuff from because as far as I think Aretha's legacy is not just in the black community(which is still and respect her) but in the hearts of the world! As of Right Now Aretha is still the GREATEST SINGER OF ALL TIME. She doesn't need to retire just because you say so.

Just like their r certain songs she CANT sing anymore due to the fact that they were SO POWERFUL when she FIRST recorded them. @almightyfire1 Is the only reason you like Aretha is for her vocal ability? I really believe your issues with Arehta are simply YOUR ISSUE! Aretha is and has always been more than her range and her belts. Her main focus lies within her gift of interpretation and the way she is able to have such a close connection with her music. Aretha can still sing ALL OF HER SONG, maybe not in the same range but she can still sing them. Your focus is on the wrong things!
