  • Did Bobby just teach an entire crowd to be backing musicians. That is like one mass hallucination captured on film. Wow.

  • musical healer

  • I was there. The atmosphere was incredible. We all loved him. One of the best experiences in my whole life. I ll never loose it.

  • genius

  • I'd love to be in that audience. People just naturally understand what he wants them to do, and it's not like they're just singing along. They're actively helping him create his awesome music. I wish I could have a hundredth of his musical brilliance.

  • Close Encounters - how did they try to communicate with ET? I bet Bobby could do it!

  • Genius, he taught them how to speak. He shared with the audience a small vocabulary and had a short, beautiful and universal conversation.

  • i was watching this last night at around midnight and i caught myself nearly falling asleep. Absolutely mesmerising how amazing this man is!

  • At 2:43 the audience realized they were under his spell

  • Genius ... with a good message ...

  • I N C R E D I B L E

  • @totopatter

Yeah it was a "lil different" at first but turned out to be pretty great. Keep up the good work Bobert.

  • Love you, Bobby ! You are fantastic !

  • i bared with it. glad i did. :)

  • This genuinely made me so happy to be alive.

  • @Cam3210 haha probably why he filled that place out. this guy is the man

  • Simplemente un genio. Desde siempre.

  • genius@work

  • tear

  • wow he was realy young right there=]

  • what further proof do we need that we are all ONE MIND? Let go of all your judgments, people, and as TOOL might say, "feel the rhythm . . . witness the beauty . . . fathom the power . . .:

  • Wow I didn't expect a reference to Tool on a BM video. I love them. I also love Bobby McFerrin.

  • Comment removed

  • @Cam3210 what's the Tool reference? if you'll excuse my ignorance

  • If Bobby McFerrin released a live album of just stuff like this using the audience, i would buy it in a split second.

  • Nobody can buy anything that fast...

  • lol

  • You forget Amazon 'One-Click'

  • pay attention, he's not dead. that was a false rumour from years ago. he is very much alive and well.

  • Rumor only started cuz all pop idols end up killing themselves for whatever bipolar reasons. bobby is a man of music lol, not just another pop star. He is still around conducting and doing live performances here and there. I have a lot of respect for someone who tried and succeeded going under the limelight.

  • This is why Bobby McFerrin needs to be declared an INTERNATIONAL treasure. Vocalist is too small a title to describe how he touches the universal language of music. He actually embodies it! He is the shaman for the human voice.

  • well put

  • "universal language"

    very fucking well put!

  • Wow!

  • brilliant!

  • the great pentatonic!!

  • my music teacher takes classes with him.

  • lol @ the people who dont get it. WAKEY WAKEY!

  • Excellent!

  • He gets it. :D

  • resonance!

  • He is the total voicing machine.

  • geneus!!!

  • uniquely amazingly inspirationally beautiful. the expletives could go on....

  • Me encanta!! Es increible!

  • absolutely amazing

  • This sonofabitch is just a uniquely brilliant individual

  • who sucks? you suck?

  • best video on youtube

  • yeah...i really can't see what connection you see between rap and any other music...

basically rap has only one possible rythm, so it's pretty boring

i've checked arkansas and..well i'm not a skater guy, and i don't really spend time in bars

but for what it's worth..i found it pretty funny, for once :D

..thanks for the tip but i'll stick to mcferrin and paco de lucia

  • i really like how he's in his bare feet...this man is incredible... his inspiration seems to never wear off

    i like this..

  • "i really like how he's in his bare feet...this man is incredible... his inspiration seems to never wear off"

If McFerrin Impressed you, then you should really see Arkansas!

  • I thought it sounded terrible when I first started listening... then it turned into something amazing!

    I love it

  • Stones become Hearts!!

    ``by the way``

  • African sounds and amazing harmonies!

I love you´re music so much!!

    Respect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Un momento de magia en que todos eran música

  • made me cry

  • He has turned himself into a human metronome. he is just incredible! I love Bobby McFerrin!

  • lol i don't think metronome was the right choice..

  • fantastic! =}

  • Bobby could save the world with music and teaching like this, He's not selfish. He is JAZZ

  • this sound like some chinese korean type shizznits it so beautiful though

  • Why do I always end up with a huge grin on my face any time I watch Bobby McFerrin?

  • WOW!!! Very cool

  • I'm gonna practice singing while jumping!

  • this just blows me away everytime i watch it!!!!

  • Holy shite. Amazing amazing amazing!

  • Amazing!!!....I noticed the bassline is a pentatonic scale...that's why it's so easy for the crowd to follow.

  • ça tabaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasse !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • incredible

  • pure awesomeness!

  • Absolutely amazing, i wish i was in that crowd.

  • i wish i was on that stage instead

  • AMAZING ! I succeed to catch public attention and to play with it like an instrument !

the symbios is so perfect !

  • He shooshes someone at 1:02. At first I thought it was a breathing technique. I'll tell you what, I wouldn't mess with Bobby McFerrin. I think his best work was with Chick Corea.

  • I've watched this a million and a half times, and I'd NEVER noticed that! That's awesome.

  • What

  • agree

  • yea noticed what??

  • i got goosebumps on the last note.. when the audience hummed and Bobby slowly straightened...

  • Ahhhh. I did too. :D

  • there is only one Bobby.

    only one.

  • very sweet. but btw bobby has said in an interview that his not very fond of people clapping, shouting and whistling in middle of performances to show how they enjoy it, because it kind of breaks down the flow of the performance

  • You get that feeling when he starts jumping to overcome the noise. It's like the screams on old beatles live recordings, ruined.

  • I think when the people understand what they should do is amazing!

  • wow!! that was f*in cool ... "..Bobby shows such humility and empathy. I get the feeling that he truly sees the audience as the star of the show :o) He is like the Sun, who sings the song of creation, and the audience is like the Earth who responds to its call. Without the Earth, the Sun means nothing... "

  • Good God!!!!!!!!

    Awesome!!!

  • this is a phenomenal teaching technique. Awesome.

  • Wow... Bobby shows such humility and empathy. I get the feeling that he truly sees the audience as the star of the show :o) He is like the Sun, who sings the song of creation, and the audience is like the Earth who responds to its call. Without the Earth, the Sun means nothing...

  • what the fuck.

why dont you just say "hes cool"

  • yeh, you're right...

but hey, now I've got a complex. Thanks...

  • you made me laugh so hard

I CAN SEE THE FUTURE BY READING THAT POST

  • its called being Articulate. its fun.

  • just because you don't have the mental capaacity to understand what he's saying doesn't mean you have to undermind what he said.

    get a life

  • i have a life, and i never stated that I dont understand what he said which in a sense i do, its the fact that hes posting it publicly and its kind of foolish to post something like that without getting flamed because it's just a waste of characters and e-space. It was also unnecessary.

  • it's just a chant, words don't matter it's the overall ' tribal ' fealing

  • I'm pretty sure it's music.

  • what the fuck.

why don't you say he's a fucking mazing!!!!!!

  • Fuck me. I got goose bumbs all over. That was cool. Bless you Bobby :)

  • I remember that at this concert, many people left the Auditorium Stravisnky and Mr. McFerrin said in the end: "Whe're doing this here to show, that anyone can do. Anyone can sing."

  • Very creative and natural performance.

I sung this funny melody too...

  • I guess the crowd was very nice and he had a super reputation. That was still pretty impressive

  • Clever!

  • Pure genius.

  • I agree

  • wow

  • p.s love his cheeky smile at 2:47

  • at first...I was a bit scared caus it was strange. but when he got the crowed involoved and did his own little chant. I was absolutly amazed!! a true natural talent

  • he is definately one of the greasest vocalists in history. yet most americans only know him for his playful stuff (ie- don't worry, be happy- beatles covers) so he doesn't tour in the US much. But if you get to see him live, he's absolutely amazing- and he gets down of the stage and sings with the crowd! my partner got to sing with him!!

  • he truly understands music, in a way i hopefully will someday.

  • first time i ever saw this guy....really cool stuff...made me smile...ne1 kno where he performs usually???

  • Wonderful... If there's anything better than C minor, I don't really want to know...

This man is a genius... I'm stunned...

  • my life....forever changed.

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!!Absolute Genius!!!

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!!Absolute Genius!!!

  • That's what I call audience participation!

    Superb, the guy is genius.

  • Amazing how he controls people :-)

  • un genio, sin palabras en verdad, simplemente un gran musico

  • Mr. McFerrin is very much a musical genius. I don't normally care for jazz, but I make the exception for him.

  • this is the kind of knight I enjoy staying home, because i discovered i guy like him, genius, i've never seen something like that

  • sheer genius.

  • le géni n'est pas compliqué!

    c'est juste l'amour!

  • Damn, he turned random people into choir, and played them like piano. Undescribably amazing

  • lol i was thinking of the words to describe his performance in a comment but u couldnt have said it any better or straight forward. evolution of entertainer and crowd

  • You can see how much he loves doing this an how much he enjoys himself.

    Great Stuff ! Awesome !

  • I saw him 9 years ago outswing an entire horn section with a cold and VERY congested. Almost resembling a bari sax. Killer solos and lines. Incredible human being with a passionate spirit.

  • Genial, genial, es imposible no contagiarse i participar del clima que crea con el público

  • that made me, a grown man, cry.

  • I don't see how it's possible to watch this clip WITHOUT getting a lump in your throat and a tear in your eye.

This is so beautiful. This is not a guy showing off. This is a man pouring joy and life allover his audience! Putting a smile on everybody's face. Letting them share his joy for music and letting them feel how music can bring people together - without words!

  • totaly agree!

    Magique!

  • bravo

    x

  • YES! He did that at his concert last Saturday (1-12-08), but used different notes on his 'piano' He ended by going so far down the keyboard, that nobody could sing the notes...

except him! He has a 4-octave voice! Incredible

  • i do. That's the most generous piece of live performance i've ever seen.

  • i wish it lasted longer, much longer. don't you?

  • hell yah. that was nice.

  • His show is amazing, He is fantastic musician but I am little crazy, because Bobby McFerrin will be in Prague and I haven´t tickets. Ach jo.. :-(

  • arrechisimo de pana

  • That was amazing - he made a chorus from people. Great stuff.

  • He is the best choir/audience director I've seen! True music art!

  • May be the only thing a marcian would admire humans is because music.

Not only McFerrin but the peopple also. They made great in perfect complicity with this genious.

  • AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG like wow for real!

  • Shush

  • sounds like jelousey you couldend do it

  • You mean your comment? Yes. It is the work of a mad man...

  • Music for the soul, and from a genius with an attenuated heart beat.

  • Holy cow! He controll the crowd like an instrument, and still he has´nt said a single word to them...

  • It's so great he doesn't say a word.

And makes everyone shut up when they try to clap half way through.

  • A M A Z I N G !!!!!!!!!

  • jesus!!!!

  • Very few people can channel music in such ways, as some other guy said, you need to have music in you vein to achieve this, not blood.

Bobby is one of them, music goes though is veins.

  • what would happen if every vocal music teacher used this in their classes.... he's a genius...

  • phhooooohhhhhhh!!!

  • Phenomenal!!! I've never seen anything like it!!!

  • this is jazz

  • this is jazz
