  • Be careful with ThemadYossieisaGIMP , he's a racist whale troll who believes this world is a shit, just like him, also he is a pedophile and sell drugs online.

  • - love it! ;-)

  • This song..takes me back. Listening to it on vinyl, mind expanded as wide as the universe, the world swirling around you mixed in with the guitar riffs, then suddenly his voice breaks through the surface dancing around and bouncing off the walls. You roll your eyes back and explore the universe in your mind, fused with Wishbone Ash. Good times.

  • @ThemadYossieisaGIMP What a miracle, you son of a bitch, Blankfrack told me you had been murdered by FBI for broken fast and furious law. Nice to see you motherfucker whale

  • My uncle also introduced me to this band when I was a teenage kid back in the mid seventies - Live Dates on a super high quality hi fi system, my mind was truly opened and I still play that CD once a week or so to this day and I'm 51 now.

  • i was sitting in art class back in 73, and this kid was playing air drums with his pencil, at the time he was pretending to be a hard ass, so long story short we had a drum contest at my house. I put on phoenix. by the time i was done, LOL he had tears in his eyes, and couldn't even hold the drum sticks. ok, im older now. but at the time i was 13 years old.. my 1st experience in crushing the spirit of a bully...LOL

  • THE WA BEST FORMATION EVER: TED TURNER, MARTIN TURNER, ANDY POWELL & STEVE UPTON.

    1970-1975

  • Live Dates is a great album with awesome artwork for the cover. One of my favorite album covers.

  • amazing!

  • Plz someone help me make those faggs who fight dissapear from top list

  • the jam in near the end sux

  • I saw them countless times in London, even got a signed plectrum from (passing through) Ben Grenfell. Every time it was an event of a concert!

  • God but they were a GREAT live band - still got it too to judge from this (txs to poster!)

  • Bought their first LP in 1980. Knew nothing at all about them. I hated this song the moment I heard it. What a dope! Just proves I had no taste yet. I'm so glad I still have it! Fantastic piece of work! Thanks for posting!

  • I saw them at Cardi's, a local bar on Westheimer in Houston in '80, Stood about 30 feet from the band. Awesome! Live Dates CD is the bomb.

  • Muito bom!

  • buena musica

  • So this is my uncle's favourite band, I know why. What a super cool way to play the guitar! (Concert audience cheering, clapping and whistling) YAAY!

  • @MrNathanForst > A Poor racist fat old fag nazi who is also a child molester and he was abused sexually by his daddy

  • @MrNathanForsst < fat bitch (Pinkpegusus) who is a big fat burned burrito ass

  • @MrNathanForst I am descripting to my mother, the way she is an her diapers smell like dog shit, a nuclear UN bomb

  • @Pinkpegasus I agree

  • @AngeloMisterioso5000 Blankfrack sounds like youre talking to yourself again. Your diaper stench is always present.

  • these guys are more progressive i think then zepp. a dif sound. a magical journey type band like that of theatrical.. so this band was good back in the day but sadly now a days ppl like rap and pother stuff. but this music made the head nice when your drifting .. the journey ..

  • Music Was Better in the 70's!

    Backyard or Weekend Parties!

Amazing Guitars Synchronizing together in harmonious patterns, recurring in Sequences and Successions of soaring spectrums of stupendous streams of marvellous muzik!

Raise your Head to the Sky!

  • Cozy Powell? that dude played wit' Sabbath

    awesome :DDD

  • 1973 at lakeview area marquette mi they opened for aerosmith toys in the attic just came out to this day it one of the best i have ever experienced

  • Cozy Powell is ALIVE?

  • @Kins1002

    Indeed he is. Holy shit!!!

  • On tour in Germany - a MUST see!

    2011-02-21 - Hamburg, Farbik

    2011-02-22 - Kiel, pumpe

    ...

  • We use to play these songs at back yard parties back in the early 70s. Along with montrose and other songs. Great music !

  • Andy's guitar and vocals kick A

  • live dates version was over 17 minutes long now thats amazin. no short change there.

  • This is where its at. :)

  • Wow, expert playing! and tone.. this music, it seems, was designed for me! ;-)

  • Allways loved them since i was 16 years old . im 55 now .. Still brilliant.

  • This is a sheer orgasm!

  • I never listened to these guys on the 70's tho I was into hard Rock all my life. I heard the name but Trower, Zep, Jimi and Clapton, West and the others overtook my interests. Great band, nice to find a gem from the old days, that sounds fresh today.

  • I just listenend to this version after 40 years or so of listening to the actual album. It's a pale comparison, but I noticed something. Check out the guitar starting around 6:30 and then go listen to Roy Buchanan "When a guitar plays the blues" I look at this a s a tribute to a great one.

  • guitar work is awesome

  • ... every bit as awsome LIVE and LOUD after all these years - and they give yet MORE!

  • Wait what? It's awesome until the way it ends, where's the other half of the song? With the badass guitar riff, more solo's and a return to that amazingly catchy duel harmony? ¬_¬, Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash play it better.

  • @abriggzy I added the second half. Check it out.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=1rATWqkHaXc

  • Saw WBA in 73' at a small (5000 person) gig in Hammond, In...

That was one of the best shows I have ever seen...

Sounds like they haven't lost anything since either.....

    Great post, Thanks

  • Superb !!!!!!!

  • Quality.

  • Incredible! I never seen them live, but I had heard Wishbone Ash was one of those bands that were actually better live than in a studio.

  • @daven58100 guarantee live versions are their very best started with them in 70's live dates the double album still have it. No turn table tho. bummer. rock and roll widow used to blow my speakers out everytime i played it. had good pioneer receiver amped out to hell and b/o speakers, still couldn't take it... throw down the sword, the king will come, phoenix and persephone are incredible in my 60's and still love em.

  • @daven58100 They are. The studio never does them justice, but live they are second to none. Fantastic band, and great people too (:

  • wow that reminds me of real old and good times....great song, of course if Laurie wisfield was there it would be much better

  • I saw them twice as a kid, once in Central Park, I believe at a Schaefer concert. This is an AMAZING performance of this song. That voice!!!!!!!!!!!! Those guitars!!!! I just want more of that amazing voice.

  • I saw them twice as a kid, once in Central Park, I believe at a Schaefer concert. This is an AMAZING performance of this song. That voice!!!!!!!!!!!! Those guitars!!!! I just want more of that amazing voice.

  • to the 4 who don't like it YOUR CRAZY!

  • Great moment seems like Deep Purple a moment,or Deep Purple seems like...

    From France !!!

  • I believe that sometime around 1970 Deep Purple were preparing for a gig and Ash were support before they had a record deal. Ritchie Blackmore was jamming and then Andy Powell plugged himself in and the two started jamming together. If they shared the riff then, then they both took advantage of it. Great one guys! PS You will also find it on Genesis - The Knife.

  • No comments for this great moment?

  • Remember seeing WBA live at the Oval cricket ground London circa 1974 along with ELP and the WHO. Sensational. Good God... 36 years ago, Wow!

  • the first twin leads......still kicks butt

  • Hell yeah man!!!!

  • Heard this band in Stroud (UK) in 73 and became an immeadiate accolite .... Fabulous at Bardsney later that year unbelieveable ........... Throw down the sword the best twin lead guitar riff solo still. A master class for those wanting to lead. Still love the all the old staff upto four ......... May their Pheonix always rise .... The ASHhhhhhh .

  • "WBA life" the best of the best

  • Such an amazing musical interpretation to the lyrics!

  • Saw them (the original band) in 1971 at The Satsop (Washington) Rock Festival. They changed my life!

  • @tboyneal Not surprised, I wasn't even born then, what a shame:)

  • Saw them last night- this was their finale number

  • best live bands ever

  • few bands could pull off the change from 3/4 to 4/4 time so flawlessly.

  • What happened to the bass player with the Thunderbird who sang?

  • original drummer was Steve Upton...went years ago

  • this a different drummer? i thought the drummer for wishbone ash was left handed.

  • one of the best solo

  • 2003

  • They really soar beginning around the 3:34 minute mark, nice fluid and melodic. Cool stuff to be sure.

  • phoenixa w eskulapie troche przekombinowali [koncowka] ale gitarzysta chyba australijczyk jest niezly

  • Grali to wczoraj w Poznaniu!Magia!

Pozdrawiam.

  • check out ..... strangers know more ...... they rock

  • Back in the 70's Phoenix was/is a very special song. I'm afraid Andy Powell's destructive decisions over the years are summed up in this silly version.Ted Turner's original sensitive solos are now made a mockery of by this other guy who sounds like he's in a music shop. Why'd you make such silly decisions Andy? You got your sound and status back with the New England album - should've stuck with that mindset. Right, I'm off to put the first album on again and listen to Phoenix as it should be!

  • I disagree, it took me awhile to get used to this version because its not the same as say on Live Dates but its still brilliant. Ben is a great player. Hell i didnt like any of the new stuff because i was comparing it to the band that i grew up listening to with Ted and the Laurie but i kept listening to it and some of the new stuff is just as good IMO. Give it a chance....

  • I have to say, I respect your view but disagree with it.

They've always experimented with Pheonix so it doesn't go stale - see the Live album Pheonix to see how Andy Powell and Laurie Wisefield did it in 1983; it's longer and even more experimental. I think it's a breathtaking display of how inventive they could be and why they are one of the few truly great bands in the history of rock.

  • No to jesteś szczęściarzem "arzachelu", jeśli mieszkasz w Poznaniu. Ten zespół był kiedyś moim No. 1. te cudowne, bajeczne utwory w hitarowym dwugłosie :-))

  • Comment removed

  • The solos = Orgasmic!!! :D:D:D:D <33

  • cant wait to see them at voodoo lounge april1st st louis

  • Check out part 2 that I uploaded.

  • This band never seems to amaze me. I first heard them back in 1972 (with their albums Argus and W.A. Live) and they became one of my favorite bands.

I hope they still tour and come to So. CaL.

  • I will be there with you.

  • 17 lutego 2010 roku w Klubie Eskulap w Poznaniu, wystąpi Wishbone Ash.

  • @arzachel79 a dzień wcześniej w proximie w Warszawie :D

  • I never get tierd of Wishbone <3 :D

  • well they have a ton of great music-have fun exploring

  • 31.1.2010

    Duisburg, Pulp

    Ich bin dabei :-)

Leider WBA ohne Granfelt und Weston...

Aber die anderen beiden sind auch gut...

    Wer ist noch dabei?? :-)

  • I just turned my boyfriend on to this band, and he thinks they are more wicked than Zeppelin. Long live the W A band!

  • well he should be quite busy...the ash has a ton of great tunes and frankly i like em better than zeppelin also...

thing is they have many different line ups...this guitarist isn't with the band anymore...but they never miss a beat

  • Better than Zepp is a bold statement. I love WA, but I don't think you can top the winning combo that Zep brings to the table.

  • mir geht da einer ab

  • Top live band! Great

  • Always the best.

  • Das ist LIVE !

  • Still awesome every time I listen...

  • i saw these gigs all of them up close-am a massive AP fan but Ben Granfelt was amazing

  • First heard this band in the seventies also. Crazy about the guitar harmonies. Simply amazing.

  • First heard this band in Malaysia, 1975.They WERE EXCELLANT!!!!!!

  • Same time they were very a known Rock Band In Iran 1975.

    and I agree with amyleigh02

  • Must be kharma; I lived in Shtraz and Tehran from '68 to '72 and I was listening to The Beatles, Doors, 5th Dimension, Animals, Kinks, and so forth

  • I looked on their website and only saw tour dates for locations outside of the US. Anyone know if they will tour the states any time soon?

  • allways have been a favourite band of mine but i feel that they never recieved the recognition that they deserved.

  • Zaubern mit der Gitarre!

    Great!

  • One word: Godly. I really wish they visited Finland someday..

  • One of thee most underated bands, ever. Their early stuff (70's) is timeless. Memories, He He He!

  • OH, SUCH FEELING!!ROCK ON!!

  • I was on the concert in Bibelot, Dordrecht /09!

    Great music!

  • Yeah I remember Wishbone Ash..

    Powerful Band...Great Music:-)

    Awesome vocals this guy has...

  • well they are still pumping out tunes-

  • best song!

  • Incredible. They were one of my favorite groups in 1973 and still their music is great!!!!!!! The 2 guitars playing all those incredible harmonies!!!!! Glad I found them on here.

  • @hluttrell: To all WBA fans out there. I`ve been trying to find a not often heard track for years "HANDY" "turma85" a guy called Luis finally managed to upload it (it`s 11 mins long!) U-tube can`t handle this so he`s used Goear.com, a spanish music site. You can translate it though so do your ears a favour and go listen to

    WBA`s "HANDY"

  • I don't care what anyone says-

    BEN GRANFELT!

  • i had this version on a dvd (which i lost n therefore am on here wathing it) and there was MUCH more... where in the blue fuck is it!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • bassline at 4:15 brilliant

  • yes, martin turner's bassline... but sounds SO much better on a 5-string bass !!!

  • oh wow - best version I've heard yet!

  • That´s it.

I didn´t hear Wishbone Ash before today.

I often hear "Epitaph" also from the 1970er´s. Both bands have much in common (e.g. the sound and combination of the guitar player´s), but I have to say that WBA ist unbelieveable, too.

The sound is brilliant and the performance and kind of playing guitar is just wonderful.

I must hear it again and again and I can´t stop it. :-)

  • from the states- i never heard of epitaph-

    but the bone rules-

  • Just brilliant with part2 even better, makes the current version look geriatric. Was a dvd of the full gig ever released ?

  • agree about Ben, but what great band has he fronted?

  • love u Andy thinking of u ,Ben was superb u know he was

  • 2 yrs ago last comment no way andy i love ben granfelt! love you 2 my dear

  • we all love Andy he's got judgement- he saw Ben and tho yeh he'sa a talent, love u andy u know who i am...

  • c'mon ppl Ben Granfelt is stupendous here, and im proud to say i saw this live-thanks friend!

  • There are many plaudits for Ben Granfelt - quite rightly, he's a great guitarist like Andy Powell.

But we all know there is something missing despite a concerted effort by others to suggest otherwise.

No Martin Turner, no Wishbone Ash.
