  • The name of the music please or am I just blind?

  • @TheMrHenkeman Artist: Teknostep Song: Stressed Out

  • @yayamensun Thanks :)

  • @TheMrHenkeman To the right just under the video clip...

  • Thank you for the info. I also appreciate the GREAT idea of the bungee. I used to (and still have) my 16lb maul but with back problems I am looking for a lighter alternative. Your use of the bungee is phenomenal and I placed my order for the new X27 last night. Thanks again for the post!

  • Forgot to ask, which model & length of Fiskars axe are you using in this video? thanks-

  • @YellowMetalDriver 28" handle, model#7854, 4.25lbs head....Fiskars have re-designed it this year and it is now called X25, head is slightly different, no biggie but I wont trade my 7854 for X25....try to get a 78854, they are on sale if available....see top one on this Google search "fiskars 7854"....22$

  • Thank you for the great idea of the bungee/tie around the logs... SO much better than wrestling a tire and such. I am getting back into splitting but have a herniated disc in L5 so I am considering retiring my 16LB splitting maul. Looking at your Fiskars that seems a lot lighter and does a very good job. Have you been happy with it? Has it retained its edge? Thanks-

  • @YellowMetalDriver the Fiskars super splitter is still the best you can get...I am super happy with it...btw it is called X25 at the store today

  • That Fiskars splitting maul looks like a quality tool. Something built that stoutly lets you quit worrying about breaking the handle on an overstrike. I gave up on maul splitting some years back though. My gas-powered hydraulic splitter is probably a little slower, but it's relentless. I can fill my big o' honkin' 8X12 truckbed in about four hours at a lazy pace. Great video!

  • has your fiskars lost its grey coating around the blade ive hade mine 2 days and its mostly gone

  • @kalob35

Yes it has worned off almost 100%....but still splits ok....

  • @akkamaan ive been splitting poplar 32-36 in round and it can do slightly better than my maul cause its a heck of alot faster and easier to swing

  • loving the wood splitting music, yeah man....= )

  • "The Bungee" added to my woodlot IQ.

    Thanks!

  • If this video is not posted at a faster speed than you did it in real time, You are a pretty tough & lucky older man. (Most of it looks like real time video, hard to tell if al of it is real time) (I know there is somed editing) Good work even if is posted at a faster speed. SMART makes up for so many things. Tough & Strong is not all it is cracke up to be. Smart will stay with you when tough & strong are GONE.

  • @specialks1953 Hi and Thx for your comment!!

There is some editing (cuts), but the chopping itself is real time, no film speed changed in the entire video...(dont know hot to do it...LOL)....It is about 3 years ago, and the last 3-6 months I have seen a few other videos on the same concept, so it's cool to the "inventor" of the bungee trick.....LOL

  • @akkamaan - I am glad to see you in such good health, Yes the bungee trick is great ! ! I forgot to mention that in my comment before. Thanks for the response. Keep up the good work.

  • @akkamaan Have you tried the Vipukirves lever Axe.

Curious about them and was hoping you might have an opinion.

Also I am looking for a Unicorn tip ( rotating splitter screw )

Any thoughts as to where I could locate one.

    Nice video too!

  • @punishr36 Nope have not tried the Vipikirves lever axe. that would add at least 100$ on the Fiskars axe budget. Very interesting design though.

The Unicorn tip with the rotating screw. I am amazed it is legal. I cant see that one being used in any commercial operation (OSHA). There have been some very serious accidents with that "screw". 30 years ago, one guy was killed when the screw grabbed his jacket and he got strangled to death.

  • @akkamaan There are cases where hands and arms have been teared up badly, when gloves have get "screwed up".

SO STAY AWAY FROM THAT CRAZY TOY!! Thats my advice! Even if I knew where to get one, I couldn't ever sleep well if I told some one and he got hurt or killed.

Thank you for the nice credits though, and please post a video of the Vipukirve axe if you decide to get one.

  • Best music ever for a wood splitting video.

  • interesting techniques with the bungie cord and rope i will have to try them when im at my cabin

  • I find it's easier to split them when they are frozen, so that's how I do it.

  • @janevski I prefere to split as soon as possible after cutting.....will speed up seasoning and prevent logs from start rotting from inside....and be barely get any frost here in NW US anyway....

  • good video improved on the wood burner :) thanks

  • I could've done w/o the old man ass shots.

  • @specter2205 Oh you have "dirty"eyes huh???

  • i think he has done this before

  • i wish i had some of your logs for my knife throwing lol

  • Why do you split the rounds? Look pretty small already.

  • @Yowzarrific

when bark is on, logs season faster, rather than rot, when they are split....

  • @akkamaan Learn something new everyday! Thanks.

  • So stinkin Smart! This is one of those-duh i could have thought of this moments but didnt, lol.

  • @grrlogin

    ;-)

  • fiskars super splliter axe right?

  • wow, great tips

  • nice work

  • I need to do this whenever I am pissed off, it must feel good to vent out.

  • Hey what kind of wood is that?

  • @bigchevy4 I'm gonna guess maple.

  • @bigchevy4 Douglas Fir

  • good job migo nice video

  • @gregmexusa Gracias my friend!

  • Great video - thanks! 5 stars!

But, um, the music...did you pick that or your teen aged grand daughter!

  • If you use a TIRE its even easier. Screw a 15" or 16" tire to your splitting stump. A wide one is best. Just toss the round in the tire and split it.

  • Thanks for another great video. Please don't have a heart attack. :)

  • Thats a good idea! Makes less work and more product in less time!

  • can you tell me please where can i buy an axe like that and how much does it costs ??

    thank you

    best wishes

    good luck

  • 49$ plus change at the store...Ace hav'em...

    online for 35$+

  • I have that exact same axe, and I love it. Best axe I've ever bought. But I never in my life thought of using bungee cords like that. That's such an awesome idea.

  • wat kind of saw do u have?

  • husky 350

  • The rope + bungee cord idea is brilliant. I was skeptical about the branch pieces at the end, but event that makes sense - so much more efficient than doing them one by one! Thanks for the video!

  • what is the length of this ax, and how much was it? thanks for the video!!

  • 28" price 49$ plus change...on sale at ACE HW now 10$ off....

  • really thats sounds nice there is a ace right down the road from my house!thanks

there are some of these axe's that are like over 100$

  • the small logs at the end, if they are seasoned do you still need to split them? or can you burn them like they are?

  • they are raw, but from the branches....a lot of pitch...I split them in halves forbetter seasoning

  • Yea what kind of wood is that, Looks like red oak maybe?

  • Douglas fir

  • awsome, thanks!

i need to go make some cedar planks for the grill MMMMMMMM...

  • You go ! Work Horse

  • what wood are you chopping?

  • douglas fir

  • Buy a Gränfors Bruks axe (Splitting Maul). You never want anything else after. Its the best there is. Beats a fiskars. Fiskars is for scissors to cut paper, not to split wood.

  • drop an old tire over the round... same effect

  • similar but not the same effect....I'll need so many sizes of tires.....The bungee will keep it a little tight....I can also use the bungee to carry the logs to my stack...I tire weights 15+lbs and my bungee fits in the pocket....if you prefere the tire.....go to the tire shop and get a used low profile....like 275/30x17 or something like that...that tire will sit tall and not take too much space on the chopping block

  • watch those toes!!!

  • toes?? He never hit them!! LOL

You mean he lift them a little from the ground in the back swing??
