It reminds me of growing up on a farm in South Dakota in the 50's & 60's--no horses, though. We used tractors--Case RC, SC, & DC, plus a Massey 44 & McCormick 10-20. We used to pull hay up into the hayloft the same way.
Wow - I just got to see this video and I love it! We did a lot of similar things but mostly with our John Deere A. This is a great video to show how much fun it could be to grow up on a farm. We didn't have much money but money wasn't all that necessary - there was plenty of space and equipment to be creative and have fun.
i watched some show on history channel today on how the world will end when we run out of oil. i dont think so! watching you old movies makes me think how much better the world would be without it in the first place. i do love my truck though. i guess i could love a wagon and team as much.
I've noticed that about Illinois, Indiana, and other midwest states. My Dad got tired of milking cows and sold the herd, but had beef cattle for a long time and always sheep, pigs, and chickens around. As you would know, they are not only a source of income, but also help fertilize the soil.
I have watched all of your movies that your father took. Thank you for posting them. So much has changed. I grew up on a farm in the 50-60's with livestock. Now in Illinois most farms are devoid of animals. Something great is lost when we don't practice animal husbandry. I prefer the old days.
