  • Very smooth picking hand!

  • Um, that's assistant to the professor...lol

  • i hate how everyone says he "has no soul while playing." He's a professor at berklee, and enjoys what he's doing as well as knows what he's doing. musicians dont trash talk other musicians. its called respect. also, hes a metal guitarist. shouldnt be watching this if you arent into shredding like this either

  • @xxcannibalxchristian people just hate wannabees..

The soul is just an excuse to gripe. If joe wasn't such a copy cat he would probably be respected much more. I know I would have more respect.

I don't like his feel at all but i respect him enough to check out his method and use anything useful.

  • completely empty shredding

  • I don't even like yngwie ( i loved him when he was Alcatrazz, but that's it), but this clown has the same guitar: cream colored scalloped strat ( but a cheap fucked up esp, instead of fender), cheaper jewelry (silver instead of the gold jewelry of yngwie), and the exact dame neoclassical licks...

  • Loser yngwie made for the poor

  • Yngwie Wanna' Be...

  • could you imagine how yngwie felt when joe opened for him LMAO

  • just missing the gold ferrari necklace and a 1990 testarossa

  • I'll never forget being in Joe's office at Berklee. He showed me and my friend some sick sweeps, but all I could hear was his braclets shaking on his wrist! (he was unplugged). Great skill but I thought he lacked emotion.

  • As a 30-year guitar veteran, I have grown so extremely weary of all the "guitarist A is better than B" shit. You don't hear pianists and violinists spout off this shit. Just learn what you can from everyone who has something to teach. What good does it to the guitar community to propagate "my favorite kicks your favorite's ass" arguments? The guys you're talking about don't do that shit themselves.

  • practice practice practice and a bag a chips

  • practice practice practice

  • lol... I prefer Yngwie... geez

  • @48eRiF Yngwie could never play this clean and with this much content. Yngwie's licks are empty. I'm not into this style, but Joe knows what he's playing and doesn't just regurgitate pentatonic licks with token harmonic minor scale licks thrown in. He teaches real classical pieces in his lessons, as opposed to Yngwie, who likes the sound of the classical stuff, but couldn't play a real classical piece to save his life.

  • @funkifyyourlife yeah thats why he looks so much like yngwie lol

  • @48eRiF Ummm, yeah, he's got long hair. Yngwie must have invented that.

  • @48eRiF Hey, Vinnie Moore looks like Yngwie, too. And Richie Blackmore. And Dave Murray. And Randy Rhoads. And Dave Mustaine. And Jeff Hanneman. My God! There is a conspiracy of guitar players who are trying to be Lord Yngwie!. Even some older players have been trying to copy Yngwie, years before he even came on the scene! The evil bastards!

  • @funkifyyourlife lol.. there u go

  • @funkifyyourlife Dave Mustaine, Jeff Hanneman and Dave Murray look NOTHING like Yngwie at all

  • @MartyFriedmanRulez66 No more than Joe does. My point was that they all have long hair, making them "trying to look like Yngwie", as if he started the long hair on guys trend. Please try to keep up.

  • Typical Joe Stump.... SLOPPY. I started this and he missed a note after barely 2 seconds!!! first lick is right, then vibrato, then the same lick with the whammy bar, but there's a note missing... And if there's not supposed to be a note, then the timing is off, so I guess there should be one.

It's all the time like that with Joe stump. I really like his compositions, but PLEASE get tight, it hurts my ears. All popular shredders are more tight then Joe Stump.

  • @niekvlessert

I'll have to open an exception and repeat what I always post here on youtube but I'll talk a bit more because you are seeking perfection.

Joe Stump has perhaps the greatest vision of all electric guitarists... He can really devote the entire composition into a single instrument. The result is closer to the rock with classical music. Yeah, Hendrix playing classical...

But if you search for perfection should perhaps listen to Baroque or acoustic instruments.

  • @guitarspectre

I do seek perfection, but i really like a loose way of improvising, like for example Yngwie does it. He is never off with timing, he never misses a note. Guys like Satriani, Vai, Petrucci never are off like this either, they just make everything fit. Listen to Speed Metal Messiah from Stump. I love the song, but he's completely lost at some places.

  • @niekvlessert

I do not like Steve Vai because the guy just does not change the tone in the songs.

Anyway I'm glad I need to find the way to listen to music technically like you perhaps.

I still insist that Stump guitar has a lot more power than those of Malmsteen and the result is a much more powerful neo-classical rock.

And maybe those mistakes are an error that studio editor ignores and not from the musician. Take easy.

  • to those hatin on joe stump...let me know when you teach metal at berklee and can charge $100+ an hour for private lessons and be booked for weeks

  • @abnerjr06 How much of a cut does Yngwie get ?

  • Hey Pauwley.... yo Adriannnnn... it was you Chahlie, it was you

  • malmsteen clone

  • I like all the people who call Joe Stump a poser. Lol, and Yngwie wasn't copying anyone at all ;)

    *cough*Blackmore*Cough*

  • @shreddybits

    *cough*Uli Roth*cough*

    *cough*Al Di Meola*cough*

  • @hyperboogie You get 100 cool points for mentioning Uli Jon Roth.

  • do u guys really think anyone would take a comment like, "you play the guitar like yngwie malmsteen", as a negative thing?

  • hey an yngwie impersonator. except his shit doesnt sound as cool.

  • His name fits him soooo well!!

  • I might be biased, as I play a mean guitar too, and I'm a big fan of Yngwie, but your ignorance is only topped by your single-mindedness, and total lack of knowledge by guitar players, as well as music in general! Joe doesn't want to be Yngwie, but he has total respect of his playing, and Joe said that Yngwie was one of his influences, just like Blackmore, M. Schenker, G. Moore, U.J. Roth, and many of classical composers.. BTW, "Guitar Magazine" named Joe is the fastest top 10 of all time!

  • Don't matter if he wants to be like Yngwie, Yngwie is awesome, and Joe is awesome too! Kudos Joe!...FYI "night of the living shred" goes for $100. on ebay.

  • Awesome tone!!!

  • dude got Fu**** HUGE hands !!!

  • 6:22 Took it to a whole nother level. Stewie would be pissed.

  • Joe is just heavier than malmasteen.. they are not the same

  • @ya6655 Agreed. Stump is much more hard rock/metal than Yngwie. I don't see Stump putting out an album with a full orchestra on it, at the very least.

  • Yes you guys are foolish trolls biased on excerpt videos you tube.

I have the whole video and albums of Stump cause i wanted to check by myself and studying the patterns and hell no he got his own style shred, leave malmsteen alone !

  • oh man... hate being a troll, totally respect this guy and his "followers" but... this is the most noodling, ultra-boring demential non-musical intro to an instructional video I´ve ever seen...

  • I never know he was an assistant professor at Berkley thats very cool..

het when we were kids we all emulated hendrix so I dont see why the haters are on Joes case just because he loves Malmsteen.. I am sure in time he will find the music inside of him and add that to his awesome technique... say what you will about hime but the guy has killer chops thats for sure..

  • oh my god malmsteen help meeeeeee

  • Ah good old Joe Stump, Never have I seen a player with such a lack of his own personal style or creativity. This guy is a perfect example of someone who did nothing but sit in his room learning neoclassical metal, and yngwie songs. (Say what you want, this guy IS an yngwie clone, no originality and is noticeably worse which is kind of sad for someone who devotes such time to a single style of music). I don't know why he gets so much attention, he brings nothing new to the table.

  • @shlokda How long have you been playing guitar? I thought so! If you knew anything about music, all musicians steal each other's secrets. So who do you think has his "own personal style or creativity?" Jimmy Page? See Willie Dixon Jimi Hendrix? See Robert Johnson, Chess records SRV? See J. Hendrix, Muddy Waters, several other blues players. As far as you saying that Joe brings nothing new to the table, I admit that Yngwie came 1st, but Joe is a pioneer of a "shred" style.

  • @Chrisferartu 10 years. I never said you can't take other's licks and styles. Of course that's how you further your own ability. However, there's a line that you must draw between borrowing, and flat out cloning. Also, how does Joe dressing like Yngwie and Ritchie, and playing almost the exact same kind of guitar as Yngwie, have anything to do with his originality? Joe is hardly a pioneer of shred guitar, there are far more noteworthy and accomplished players in that style/genre.

  • good job joe !!!!!! i"m a yngwie malmsteen fan !! but your sounds are cleaner, your playing not false as your speed burns up ( what yngwie does ) and your ego is much better than yngwie !! 10 points for you !!! greats from the netherlands !!

  • Does something seem off in this? Like.... Twilight zone shit or something? That dude doing the interview is like a guy straight out of 1960s sci fi.... It was funny to watch anyway, very entertaining :)

  • I think you'll find that's an Ab minor pentatonic as your guitar's tuned down

  • hes a nicer guy than malmsteen thats for sure

  • "I feel more evil and darker already"...what a tool!

  • Yngwie is the King, Joe Stump is the Jack and the Ace is Jason Becker!!!

  • @gregmalmsteen2 don't feed his ego

  • He seems like a nice guy, unlike Malmsteen..

  • Joe Stump is a copycat of YJM, but he's good but never be close to the guitar GOD!!

  • @airhead077 at least he is famous n makes a living playing music, do yuo?, don't talk shit about other's man, unless you can back it up, talk is cheap asswipe...

  • @metalstarscream can you play guitar like YJM does you bullshit?go fuck your mom!dumbass!!,,I,,

  • @airhead077 not the point, thta's why i dont hide hide behind a screen n talk shit bout people who are awesome, you just a shit person, that's a fact.

  • @metalstarscream your a deep shit fucker!go fuck your dog

  • what makes Stump 1,000X better than Yngwie is that he's a nice guy. Who gives a fuck if he's copying someone aren't we all? Yngwie copied Blackmore and I don't see you whining about that

  • okay ill buy you a fucking donut and a coffe..now worship me you retard!because im so fucking nice! i don´t think joe stump would bother paying for your donut and coffe..

  • @HyperfastMalmsteen

dude...chill.... yngwie isn't the only guitar player in this world :/ your obviously another yngwie fan boy just look at you all pissed and you don't even know yngwie I bet you've never even seen him live or spoke to him cuz I have and his douche

  • i seen him live in sweden stockholm 4 times and met him in school in fryshuset stockholm 2001..my headmaster and personal mentor ola johansson is an old friend to yngwie..so dont talk about me when you dont know shit

  • @HyperfastMalmsteen

    I can't believe your still fighting about this...what a baby v_v

  • yngwie malmsteen clone

  • @guzbeth1 id say blackmore clone

  • As much as Joe wants to be Yngwie, he'll never be him.

  • @hummarstra your a fuckin retard...you and everyone else that says this. If your gonna spit the same babble that everyone else does...please tell us why Joe is trying to be like Yngwie, give us examples and facts. I await your response...

  • @egchato Kudos to your post! I can't understand like people who hate greatness like hummarstra-I'm a big fan of Yngwie too, but Joe is also a pioneer of the "shred" style of guitar. I'm a pretty decent picker, and I'm surprised that so many guitar players, especially those with talent, are total assholes! I met Joe, and sent me a few emails, and he's a real nice guy, and would be fun to hang around with him!

  • @hummarstra Thats why he's better than Yngwie!

  • @Soldano88 Better than Yngwie? When I heard Yngwie it changed my life. When I saw Joe Stump I laughed. There is only One Yngwie. The rest are just embarrassing IMO.

    Be Yourself!

  • @hummarstra And you'll never be either. I'm sure Stump is happy being himself.

  • @hummarstra yeah..thats the thing if you play neoclassical you'l sound like Yngwie no matter what, Hes ruined the style for every one...

  • @LYTHBAND

Yeah, because Rusty Cooley and Michael Angelo Batio sound an awful lot like Yngwie. There are A LOT of neo-classical electric guitar players that sound almost nothing like Malmsteen. George Bellas, Michael Romeo, Vinnie Moore etc. the list goes on.

  • @hummarstra except joe is a better player than yngwie, yngwie didnt invent this "classical or baroque sound." bach and mozart took care of that and yngwie isnt as good as he thinks he is

  • @hummarstra True that haha!

  • Too much unwanted noise.....

  • dfssdf

  • I meant what I said in a good way, how can anyone possibly complete all the videos he's uploading at this rate? You must be really good if you can lol. I'm not saying he should stop, definitely not, but just slow it down a bit. I'm the last person who would want to tell Angeliterium when to stop, lol.

  • anyone has tabs for this??

if yes, then contact me please!
