This is why I love Topgear.. there are loooads of reviewers out there but most are boring arses that are so thrilled and nervous about finally getting to be in a Ferrari that they get stuck in all the tedious details that you can read in the brochure anyway. Of course I've seen those others. The only one that could really stand with the 458 is the DBS but it's still not as advanced or as much of a design triumph. It's beautiful, stunning even, don't get me wrong.

The Karma is very advanced as well but the main difference is between every other make and recent Ferraris, from the 360 forard, is that they are 3 dimensional shapes, not 2-dimensional.

The integration of curve and plane is simply astonishing, with the 458 being the pinnacle.

I love the Zonda as well, in fact, I think it's the F is one of the most brilliant syntheses of engineering and passion ever.

But as a design it was flawed from the beginning. Pagani smoothed out many of the wrinkles in the wind tunnel but the basic problems remain.

CGT is another gorgeous shape but not much of an achievement. Just making a beautiful shape isn't enough. It must be an achievement, like the Enzo. Of course the 458 looks like a baby Enzo. Others can do it but haven't yet.

Of all the others I think Pagani's next model will come the closest to Ferrari. Aston's One-77 is just a pumped up, worked over DB9/Vanquish. Lambo is clueless, all two-dimensional angles and edges.

With the 458 being such and achievement I expect the next hyper-car to be simply astonishing.

0.6 isnt bad on such a short track as fiorano, but yeah its not huge. But who really cares, its about feel and enjoyment rather than looking for speed. If you want speed you could go a lot faster for 200k.
