I agree with your point of about celebrating science.
However, I see that science is in grave danger from political corruption.
For example, politicians shouting down scientists that dissent from man made global warming, climate change, or however it is to be branded this week. Obama in a recent address mortgaged the credibility of science to these ideas. As evidences grows that the public has been misled, it will be science, not the media and politicians, that will be blamed.
As I've said this before, the fact that Religions have survived over Millennia as we know it, has at its core telepathy
Last night I've succeeded proving to myself about the existence of telepathic abilities.
While watching over 2 hours or so, a stunningly hot lady at blog-tv, it occurred to me I should send her a thought so she would grab a white pillow from her left side, over on the bed and put in on her lap.
It would had been immoral/and perhaps it coul d still be considered as evil, if you put it in a religious context (but fuck it, for the sake of Science its worth doing it, nonetheless) to do an actual recorded experiment without the consent of the person in cause.
Telepathy is a FACT. I know this now.
The way it works and when it works, its a different story, but within the context of my experimentation it worked 100%.
experienced throughout history by people; they must had regarded them as having supernatural connotations.
The very interpretations via religions or other pre-religious systems (shamanism), must've been erroneous, but they must be researched, as the saying goes, "there is no smoke without fire".
Denying the whole religious aspects its not the wisest way to approach the issues.
Emotional substrates required during these manifestations is of great significance.

Happy Darwin year everyone! There should be a Darwin Day holiday each year, unlikely with the usual presents, bulking and drinking like the rest of holidays. A day to commemorate and moarn human error, ignorance and plain stupidity.
We need random roadside atheism tests! The driver would be forced to pull over and list the names of two dozen prominent scientists in reverse alphabetic order, while standing on one leg, touching their nose between every name, and blowing into a tube. This would increase road safety as most theists will avoid driving for fear of the stiff penalties that will be imposed should they be caught driving while theistic. I can't believe that someone hasn't thought of this before! I'm a fucking genius!
Hi people, I think we can afford to be ootimistic, we realise that we can create our own selves, we can influence others through the use of an empirical grounded reason(verifiable to one and all, not only the elect). Honestly, the more contact I have with the youth, the more positive I feel we may one day stop segragating ourselves on wholly subjective grounds.
Yup. As these guys happen to have centenary celebrations their names may come up first this year, but it should only be as an introduction to all the wonders of science.
atheism is not religion, and unless they can understand and consider the reasoning and arguments against religion all you have done is 'innocculate' them against the viral thought processes of religion.
I had a feeling someone would pick me up wrong. What i mean to say is that i talked to them about how absurd religion is and threw some science at them, now they are innocent little children thinking for themselves.
Nope I wasn't implying that at all. Only implying that we're being outbred by religious children who happen to BE indoctrinated by religion, a hard thing to get rid of.
Don't get me wrong: stupidity is indestructible, and if you're hoping to eradicate it completely you're doomed to failure. But can it be relegated to an unimportant place in society? Yes. I think so.
I have two young daughters who question the belief in an all-powerfull, all-seeing big man as God, they may not have their own answers worked out yet, but at least they do not blindly accept and are able to recognize absurdity. While this may not be considered as vindicating modern, scientific belief it does show that change is gradually coming, that through a consensual, empirical approach we may be getting closer to understanding the universe objectively.

I read "Galileo's Daughter" and I fell in love with both Galileo and his devoted daughter, a poor nun. The book was that of their correspondences.
Darwin suffered emotionally as well and doubted himself. That surprised me.
These individuals were amazing.

Yes! I read that book too, it was great.

I have my proof about telepathic abilities.
