Mike Norris Three Dances for bassoon trio. Published by Sirron Publishing (Glasgow). Mike wrote two suites of dances for bassoon trio. He was bassoonist in the Scottish Symphony Orchestra but retired and studied music / composition at Glasgow University. His music for bassoon trio is fantastic - funny, brilliantly written and very accessible. Available in the UK through June Emerson Music.
I play the flute and i've recently started to play the bassoon 1 1/2 years ago, i'm still not very good at it, i havn't got a very soft sound playing it, I play it really loud and gravvelly like. I need more practice. BASSOONS WILL TAKE OVER THE WORLD!
Yeah I actually borrowed a bassoon from someone. I was surprised to find it very easy to produce a solid sound. The bassoon was probably 25 years old though and didn't work properly so I didn't really get to learn it but it was cool to at least say that I have played one. I enjoy trumpet very thoroughly though.
Nice! Way to dissuade somebody from persuing something on the grounds that it would be technically challenging. In fact, I don't think you went far enough, there. You should have told him to just stop trying to do anything altogether, as it creates the potential for failure and the feeling that you'll never be as good as somebody else.

I started on clarinet then switched to bassoon this year. I'm pretty good, I'd love to try this. I just need to find more bassoonists.

Actually, just so everyone knows, they say trumpet to bassoon is alot easier than most woodwinds.
Except fingerings
There your you screwed. Haha. (But don't worry, my embouchere was wrong for 2 and a half years)

I went flute to bassoon, that was pretty easy, cause I had the air supply for it. :)

I SOO would have loved to play in a bassoon quartet, or even a duet, but I was always the only bassoonist around. *single tear*

That makes me want to ditch trumpet and play bassoon really bad.

Good luck with that. It's gonna be hard to switch from brass to woodwinds, especially if you want to play a double reed.
