  • I've had this song stuck in my head for months.

    Great man

  • Strange that the top comments praise von Braun, when the song was lambasting him. I'd think that the video would have more dislikes considering.

  • Von Braun is an American Hero!

  • This man was an assassin, but not the missile design, but by workers who died working for him. Now I understand that the Russians won the space race. U.S. has the best scientists do not know because they used this unfortunate.

  • No one is saying that Von Braun didn't go great things for science and rocketry, and the space program owes him a debt of gratitude.

But the facts remain that he also did some pretty horrible things and contributed greatly to the murder of thousands of innocent people.

  • @ViveLRoi

His crime was not the V2, if it was then we must hang just about everyone who worked in a munitions factory or made a tank or airplane. His crime was the six slave workers who were worked to death in the most apalling conditions for EVERY V2 that left the factory. (About 30,000 people)

He knew what was going on when the tunnels were dug, when the production started, the hangings and the daily loads of corpses taken for incineration. He was as evil as Himmler.

  • Alles was heute fliegt, faehrt und schiesst, ist eine deutsche Erfindung!!!!

  • An early Nazi (1932) and Waffen-SS (1933), von Braun was an eager servant of the vilest regime in history. His slaves, drafted in from Buchenwald, built the V2 rockets fired at London in 1944 to butcher thousands of my fellow citizens. For this he was awarded a free pass at the end of the war, US citizenship and the highest honours the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave can bestow.

Thank you, Tom Lehrer, for your gentle, witty, damning indictment of this monstrous affront to justice.

  • @Longmemory1

This is not correct. WvB get a member of the NSDAP on Dec 1938 and had to be member of the Waffen-SS in May 1940.

Undoubtly, WvB is guilty - not to fight really against the Nazi regime and against the slavery in the Kohnstein. But it's easy to say this now. In the concrete situation, things look quite different.

  • @Longmemory1 Do you know if WvB ever publicly spoke of his service to Adolf Hitler and/or why he chose to carry on his research? I have a fragment of a memory that he decided to work for Hitler because to give up the prospect was to give up his life's work. He did eventually come to work for us, and it is obvious his contributions greatly helped protect us and ultimately allowed us to go to the moon. A man of great contradictions and certainly responsible for many deaths.

  • I guess he proved what german superiority really means.

  • His name is Wernher von Braun ;-)

  • The truly remarkable thing is that he was so very, very far ahead of his time, envisioning to his mind something "simple" which everybody else was against at the time. We have not sent a manned mission to Mars, and yet he planned one. And still, he died in 1977, so he got to see the achievements up to that point. Right through Apollo 17.

  • I recommend you read more about of scientific thought , its history and classic experiments .Rocketers, for example, ever existed , all world over. As well as very inteligent people . The same to international saboteurs.

  • Comment removed

  • I didn't mean to insult others, I'm just saying in his case he really was a visionary.

  • No insult at all. What happens is ,that Von Braun ,is one of those names linked to certain way of thinking ( bloody justification of personnal success),that is destroying - but at the same time, fiercing solutions - for the meaning of individual dignity , and political values, in a massified world. "Neccessity is the mother of invention " prooved to be a half-true, noxious phrase.

  • He sold the rocket to Hitler with a color movie, the same way that he sold the rocket to the American public with Disney's Man in Space.

  • lol...

  • Call him a Nazi, he won't even frown,

"Ha, Nazi Schmazi," says Wernher von Braun !

Oh by the way, "davidblade15" , this "Demon" was indeed a full blown "NAZI S.S. Officer" but according to your interpretation of history, he only helped bomb innocent men, women and children because he had to, right? That's some pathetic defense of this "Fascist Prick". That is some hero. You my friend, have very poor moral standards. Wernher Von Braun only cared about his career and nothing else. Unbelievable !

  • Nasa really wouldn't be where they are now with out him!

  • Helicopterpilot16, thats an insult. You are undere stimating the capability of USA people. You appears todont know the giant inside american spirit.

  • What ever you think, the american spirit is to thret any country that doesnt agree with us!

  • I mostly blame the United States and The Military Industrial Complex for the extraordinary treatment of Wernher Von Braun at the end of W.W. II. but the truth be told, all countries involved in the fighting in W.W. II are responsible also as these countries never spoke out about this travesty of injustice ordained by America. This will be a "Black Mark" that will forever haunt N.A.S.A. and the American space program. Be careful the Hero you worship my friends, It could be a Demon in disguise.

  • Good riddens to a "NAZI S.S. OFFICER". That bastard never got the "Nuremberg Trial" or the subsequent "Nuremberg Military Tribunal" he should have gotten at The end of W.W. II. He should have been swinging from a rope for his crimes. Good riddens to "Fascist Trash" I'd say.

  • he was one of the leading figures in the development of rocket technology in Germany and the United States. Wernher Von Braun is sometimes said to be the preeminent rocket engineer of the 20th century.

and anyway blame the Americans for him not standing trial

  • He was also a Premier Nazi...if you look at NASA, it was and is run by 33* Masons, otherwise known as Illuminati. Look up the astronauts in the moon stunt scam. All 33* masons. That should tell you something, but only if you are wide awake.

  • he wasn't even a SS officer. he only wore the uniform twice, in his life, because he had to

  • The fascist trash is the government under who you're sitting, that hired him, the illuminati who are just as evil as the Hitler he worked for and come from the same source. Ever hear of Skull & Bones? Know where they originated? Ever hear of 911? Know who carried it out? Look up Bertha Champagne. She will tell you what Americans neither know nor want to hear.

  • Imagine if Hitler ruled the world and his III Empire became reality. They would be having a space ship travelling at the speed of light by now!

  • At what cost though?

The Germans may have had amazing scientific breakthroughs, but they were led by morally bankrupt, genocidal psychopaths who had little regard for human life....

  • I'm so happy we don't have a spaceship traveling at the speed of light right now!

  • Their is no doubt that Werner Von Braun was a genius and a visionary.

Who was one of the greatest minds of the 20th Centuary in the field of Enginering.

And I hope that one day his dream of a manned base on the moon and exploration to other planets becomes a realisation.

However the words opoortunist, mercenary and self-interest spring to mind.

  • Check out this video folks. Type "Tom Lehrer - Wernher von Braun". Tom Lehrer sings "The Werhner Von Braun Song." The song that haunted Werhner Von Braun through most of his life in the United States.

  • Thank God somebody saw fit to immortalize Wernher von Braun's evil deeds as a Nazi in WWII.

  • Really interesting story about how he (and his 500 staff) managed to surrender to the Americans, after being told to pick up arms against the Russians at the end of the war. An SS commander was told to execute them all as soon as the war was lost... but he used his genius to work out a way to surrender to the Western Allies. His life would make a great movie... Leonardo Di Caprio would pull it off wonderfully!

  • The U.S. had no choice but to go after men like Von Braun once the war was over. Keep in mind that despite having just won the war, the U.S. had entered the war very unprepared and by surprise attack at Pearl Harbor. How can anybody blame the U.S. for wanting the advanced technologies that the Nazis had developed? What in the world is wrong with LOOKING OUT FOR NO. 1, and wanting to have a military edge if attacked again? WWII was no walk in the park, and it's a war that could have been lost...

  • I could care less if he was a Nazi....the man was brilliant. All this anti-Von Braun talk is based on liberal BS.....sorry libs, some of us think FOR OURSELVES, and NOT the way you want everybody to think. Here's something to ponder: more often than not, what libs are against is something that's usually GOOD for the U.S. and what they're for is usually BAD for the American ppl.

  • without that german genius , the americans wouldnt be able to send rockets into space

or sending drones to moon or mars

  • @Itachi18x Absolutely stupefying comment.

I guess you failed a lot in history class.

  • @Itachi18x ...and who gives a fuck, assclown? Were do we get a refund on the space shuttle that periodically explodes of lift-off or re-entry? The Cold War btwn the US and Soviet Union ended in 1989' without a shot being fired. The soviet union collapsed like a hobo on a hot pocket because of a epic failed economy. Nothing to do with nazi fagtard technology, assclown.

  • @Itachi18x actually Werner Von Braun considers Pedro Paulet a peruvian scientist to be the father of aeronautics ( liquid fueled rockets) due to his work/invention in 1895 to the 1900s....as he mentions it in one of his books......pretty impressive who would have thought of it.....

  • @atta1798 just like Konrad Zuse is the father of the computer?

  • That was relly funny! I admire the man, and his work, I don't beleive he had a thing to do with the Nazis. I just think he did whatever he had to, to do what he loved (which in his case was making rocket weapons.)

  • he asked about the slaves conditions and was told to mind his own business, not like he could of done anything about it anyway.

  • He was my childhood hero, and was kind enough to send me a 8x10 autographed photo and letter. A great scientist and a father of the Space Age.

  • shut-up he was a god.

  • Werner Von Braun was a great man of science who deserves a holiday in his name.

  • @wilburhog You know, you're absolutely right !

America should have a National Holiday for Wernher Von Braun (A High Ranking NAZI S.S. OFFICER), for all the innocent men, women and children he helped bomb in Britain by way of his "V" rockets.

Perhaps we should also have a Holiday for Ted Bundy, David Berkowitz, John Wayne Gacy, Jeffrey Dahmer and of course don't forget another Great American National Treasure by the name of Charles Manson.

Wernher Von Braun meets all the criteria doesn't he ?!!

  • Von Braun did not have access to the Goddard files until after the war.

  • Quoting Lyndon Johnson, " Our nazis are better than their nazis." Referring to the race to the moon against the Russians. Yes, Goddard did first make the cone nozzle which propels gas at a high rate of speed, but Dr. Von Braun got us to the moon.

  • Do the "good" ones and the "bad" ones exist? Take the natives reservations : Shannon County, South Dakota, home of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, is one of the poorest counties in the nation. USA is an angelic democracy with some criminal activities...

  • Now, who is the real genius, Werner Von Braun, or Tom Lehrer?

  • Werner von Braun was faced with a choice, give up his life work or become a nazi and allow many, many people to be killed with technology he developed.

    He made the wrong choice.

  • Actually Von Braun indirectly helped the allies. The money spent on the V-2's could have been applied toward 3,000 BF109's.

  • The history of space travel would be different if Robert Goddard had been as adept at promoting his ideas in the 1930s as von Braun was in the America of the 1950s? Braun and other scientists claimed they used Goddard

ideas and were amazed America ignored Robert Goddard

  • I am opposed to Nazis but Wernher von Braun was no Nazi. He invented the space rockets, and so built our modern world. Moon landing, Space Shuttle, weather satellites, cell phones, even GPS...all inventions made possible by Wernher von Braun.

  • That doesn't mean he can't be a Nazi.

  • yes, you're right about that. but I don't believe it.

  • "He invented the space rockets, and so built our modern world."

You give Werner von braun too much credit.

  • IDK. Wernher von Braun wanted, more than anything, to build rockets. He didn't care who it was for as long as he had the chance. That's the way I look at it. He is at fault for thousands of deaths, but we do owe him quite a lot of gratitude. Without him and his team of German scientists, we would not be NEAR as far as we are today in rocketry.

"The end justifies the means" Machiavelli

    He was a genius, undoubtedly.

That being said I love this song... haha... it's hilarious.

  • Being amoral doesn't get you out of the situation. He had a responsibility to those people his technology ended up killing, and he failed to account for it. That's we he should not be honoured.

  • Actually Von Braun indirectly helped the allies. The money spent on the V-2's could have been applied toward 3,000 BF109's.

  • one thing: more than 50 million of the US-Americans got German ancestors.(and I don't count the English(who are also ethnic Germans)) To insult one of us is like you'd insult yourself(your nation, culture and blood)

  • No. To insult one person is to insult that one person. There is no reason for anyone else to feel insulted unless they share the specific quality insult is directed at. Ancestry is irrelvant in this context, to think otherwise is an example of collectivism.

  • They are running " when we left earth " on discovery with never a word of Wernher. the pass over boys are rewriting history .

I saw a few seconds of him walking in the NASA launch center.

So now when little Johny asks " Mom did Nazi's Scientists put us on the moon ? "

No Johny they played accordion music and grilled brat wurst for the crews.

Who knows how far they will SPIN it .

  • hahahah my granfather use to sing me this song

  • Werner Von Braun FTW!

  • Lehrer was a genius, his song was brilliant and about the "now I'm learning chinese" part...well,I think he might be right after all.

Sergei you did a very good job with the montage.

  • watch disclosure project

  • Governments do not care about other countries people...and as long Von Braun helped out the Americans the American government did not care what he did just so they can show off the russians....

  • Why was this downvoted? Read about the guy, this is completely accurate.

  • well wernher von braun is an ambivalent character

but did he ever worked for the chinese? i dont think so

  • It's just a joke.

  • If you think thousands of dead are a joke, you have a strange sense of humor.

  • But, all of that brushed aside, have to admit, the guy was a genius.

  • A German put the first American in space, he was the leading man during the space race. Him being a Nazi didn't bother the Americans did it! Even though they were 100% against the Nazi's, they loved this guys work, without him, they would have had nothing in those days, just a dream & a load of envy!Funny, when you see those past & current rockets take off, and see written on the side; UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! Germany should be written on the side too. Once again, US claimed it as they're own.

  • maybe because he was a citizen of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

  • Von Braun versus Goddard it´s a curious discussion, like the Wright brothers versus Lilienthal. The one mastermind was already dead when the others came to the fore. Stop talking about who was better, please. :-P

  • The discussion was not about who was better.

  • Okay, the discussion was about who was more important for the U.S. aerospace. :-P

  • Wrong again. The statement was made "brining your sorry US asses to the moon"

The Germans developements in rocketry were based earlier developements in the US. The Allies did not develope it because they did not need it, they were developing heavy bombers and the a-bomb to win the war. The Germans did the R&D out of desparation, that's how they got the edge.

  • ...and in connetcion with Goddard I am interpreting this as a discussion about von Brauns role for the U.S. :-P

And the other part about what the Allies developed or not developed is horrible. At the time they developed all what they could get, of course.

  • They did not need it.

  • However they needed for the next war.

  • And concerning the "the didnt need it" comment: Yes, they didnt needed it during WW2 but they obviously did need it during the space race and werent even able to do it then! Von Braun did compete with 2 US teams at this time which hadnt been able to show any satisfying results.

  • He is the GOD Gifted legend who took us to moon with 1960's/70's technology and nobody could challange it that time even USSR but now NASA itself is propagating as 'hoax' because NASA even cannot do it with today's technology without Mr. Bruad (Propagaeted as Nazi by Jews)

  • Shall anybody present me a scientist who would never become a Doctor Faustus when the circumstances require it.

  • There is a "h" in Wernher.

  • Sino fuera por el los gringos no llegarian a la luna.... Werner Von Braun inteligencia alemana para ir a la luna, apoyado por el fuhrer Adolfo Hitler..... Heil Hitler.....

  • Dang, I admire Doctor Von Braun tremendously but I still have to say that that was incredibly funny! Nice work whoever synchronized this with the pictures!

  • There were a lot more Germans working for the US and soviet after WWII.Oberth, Dornberger, von Putkamer and hundreds other scientist for NASA alone. "Operation Paperclip"/"Operation Overcast". But also Jets (ME262-> F86F Sabre in Korea, lots of Nazis for CIA and FBI, StG44 was prototype for m15 / M16 and not for AK47.

Werner von Ardenne was essential for the building of the Russian nukes in 1946-1949).

WWII was a imperialistic war and not a "bad Nazi Cowboys vs. good jewish Indians" game.

  • StG44 was prototype for m15 / M16 and not for AK47.???? wrong the russian tank commander michael klashnikov used it as an example and made it better.

  • German make good rocket and good car.

  • The US space program can bravely thank Herr von Braun.

German had a superior mind to build such rockets.

American "people" managed to find what they didn't have: brains

  • If you took a minute to study history, you would realize that:

"Before 1939, German scientists occasionally contacted Goddard directly with technical questions. Wernher von Braun used Goddard's plans from various journals and incorporated them into the building of the Aggregat 4 (A-4) series of rockets, better known as the V-2.[5] In 1963, said of Goddard's work: "His rockets ... may have been rather crude by present-day standards, but they blazed the trail ...."

  • Thank GOD! someone who knows history!

  • The way the pictures were syncronized with the lyrics was ingenous; the way they match to what Tom Lehrer is saying. If you look at the soldier to Wherner von Braun's left you'll see that the way he moves reflects exactly what Lehrer is saying at the 25 second mark on the video.

  • Thanks for that observation - hadn´t seen it before, but it´s true.

"Schlüssel Hochschießen - Schlüssel Stehn Hochschießen!"

  • Schlüssel auf schießen, Schlüssel steht auf schießen ...

  • Yes, I think you´re right - thank you!

  • My fave WVB quote is about the USA: "Everyone's a crackpot until they hit the jackpot!"

  • We shot you on the moon (Wernher von Braun...), without german rocket-technology you would still try to get there with a propeller(!)-aircraft. Didn't you learn this in school ?

  • Did you even go to school?

  • von Braun got a lot from Goddard's research. The US didn't fund rocketry as the Germans did out of war desperation.

  • Von Braun still kicked the asses of his "US rivals" who werent able to show any usuable results in means of closing in on the russian space programm. The US didnt want Von Braun to lead the space programm, they didnt had any other choice cause the US researches all sucked ass.

  • Ahem.... simply.. Robert Goddard.... say, adieu my good fool!

  • "Goddart", as important as he was in this field of technology, has never achieved was "von Braun" achieved: developing the first working rockets and brining your sorry US asses to the moon. As this point of time, no US team was able to accomplish the mission. Even not with all the robbed german technology at your hands which the us tried to backward engineer.

So much for the "fool", fool.

  • The US did not need rocket tech. because they had heavy bombers, so it was not developed (as was the A-bomb). The V-2 was not a very useful weapon. The germans took a lot from Dr. Goddard's work.

  • "The US didnt need rocket tech" LooL

And the reason the V-2 wasnt "a very useful weapon" was that germany hadnt had the resources (and time) to deploy them large scale.

  • B-17, B-24, B-26, B-25, Lancaster etc. The US didn't need it during WWII. They were not accurate. Germany what the He-111 effective in 1940, feeble by 1944. They would have been better off building more tanks than the V-2, but their situation was desparate. And w/o Goddard's research they would have not been able to produce their "wonder weapon"

  • Well, firstly the US hasnt been able to create any mention worthy rocket technology even with goddards early developments. Otherwise the wouldnt had been forced to take von Braun for their space program.

Secondly the "wonder weapons" covered a very wide range of technology like jet propulsion, ramjet propulsion and very advanced aircraft and rocket development in general. (i.e. see the Horten Ho 229) Only part of the rocket development may has been influenced by Goddard.

  • We are talking this particular "wonder weapon", the V-2. The Germans copied from past work that was vital to its developement. Von Braun even said that. The Germans got the jump on the rocket tech. because the Allies did not fund R&D and concentrated on weapons that would win the war not the space race.

  • His name is "Wernher von Braun". And the Americans engaged a lot of old nazis, for work against communists and in space&weapons research.

  • IN GERMAN OR ENGLISH I KNOW HOW TO COUNT DOWN.......UNT I'M LEARNING CHINESE SAYS WERNER VON BRAUN!!! xD

  • lehrer says "UND"

  • He actually sings IN GERMAN ODER ENGLISH

  • your reply to me proves that you can't fucking spell consistency right.

  • why are your balls in such an uproar? It's a clever song written by an American in the early sixties during the space race. Just because Werner got us to the moon doesn't mean American and Brits alike who fought in Europe should have any love for the man. Most of them weren't Jewish. What's up with you and Jews anyhow? Are you president of the Werner Von Braun fanclub?

  • your reply proves that, " consistancy is the last refuge of the unimaginative"!

    ditto hughtub

  • What a BULLSHIT song. More Germans died in Dresden ALONE, than all combined who died in England. England started the war, remember? Germany simply acted to stop the slaughter of ethnic Germans being killed by Bolsheviks in the area that was stolen from Germany after WW1 and given to Poland. Didn't read that in history, did ya? Google "Bromberg Bloody Sunday".

  • As asdodge mentioned, this is a satirical song. Satire makes fun of someone/a group of people, Therefore is not serious.

  • England didn't start the war. Britain set an ultimatum and once Germany invaded Poland we were at war.

It's a brilliant song and satire.

  • How did England gain its empire? Through conquest. The victors of WW1 stole part of Germany and gave it to Poland. Germany wanted it back, so they went to get it. England, the empire-tyrants they were, felt German strength would harm their power, so they made that incident worthy of a war that ultimately killed tens of millions of people. Again, did England declare war first or didn't they?

  • the CIA should have listed to Tom when this was written. maybe the balance of trade would be different

    today?

  • Tom Lehrer is Jewish, correct? I guess that explains why he doesn't like the man who single handedly got us to the moon, and could have saved Germany and Europe from Communism if the Nazis had been victorious, if we had sided with the Axis powers instead of Stalin.

  • No, Tom Lehrer is not a Jew. And Werner von Braun is in gehenna YM"SM, and so is your buddy Hilter, YM"SM.

  • Actually Tom Lehrer IS Jewish. Why lie, cosmo? Why?

  • So what if Lehrer would be Jewish -- would that affect the quality of his stuff in any way???

    Assholes

  • No but it just shows how hate-filled some jews are towards Germans.

  • ...and some, like the ones whose relatives were butchered, with good reason

  • Jews punched first. They started and led every Communist effort in Europe. It was Jews alone who actually butchered the Russian Czar family. Jews killed over 30 million in Russia with Stalin as their leader. It would have been much higher had Hitler not came to power. Churchill said "we killed the wrong pig".

  • no use debating with your kind.

  • Stop using the damned holocaust wild card. Stalin let million of Ukrainians starve to death and yet you dont hear them bitch about it. Yes, what the nazis did was horrible but there are a million other genocides all over the world. So buck up.

  • Yes, you do hear them, actually.

  • Either way, Werner came to USA to work for Nasa. Interesting how the USA took the best Nazi scientist to come live here.

  • Typical of young fools, especially overly jingoistic ones and racists. The song is by Tom Lehrer on his "The Year That Was: 1965" album. It is satirical. And, while Borwn built rockets that got US to the moon, he was a full Nazi-believer and a potential war-criminal. The US has a blind eye to a person's past, as long as they can help us NOW. We haven't changed.

  • Von Braun was a great man, the only reason there are human bootprints on the moon. Unfortunately, the Nazis were right. Communism was a big threat, and we should have sided with them, if not for "some of my best friends are Communist" FDR, himself part Jewish and surrounded by Jewish cabinet members. 1941, Jews pushed for every German to be sterilized. This BEFORE any concentration camp deaths. Google "Germany must Perish".

  • Heh the post I was replying to disappeared. Nevermind then

  • This song was written long after WW2 during space race. Check your facts.

  • nazi? smazi!

  • Good job! Lol.

And it's true, he did do quite a bit for the U.S. space program.

  • Looking at it through the lens of history, maybe. VERY maybe. But from then, he was an evil man.

  • More Jew "German Bashing. Hey kikes WW2 has been over for 62years! ; but the holocaust crap and Nazi/German bashing contiues unabated. Von Braun was a great scientist, and did much for America unlike the greasy Zionist worms who are rotting out our country.

  • d00d jkt8012 this song was writet in ww2 wen he was a jerkwad

  • Go check israel21c * com and see if the "Zionists" are really worms...

And then you can just jump from the nearest window.

  • He man this is not cool von braun was a genius he was forced by the nazi's.

  • Oh, I think von Braun (who was still very much alive when this song was written and performed) probably got a good chuckle from this. That peculiar German sense of humor, you know.

  • He was alive when this was made. And i know for a fact that he thought it was funny

  • This was obscenely disrespectful.

  • Well, it'd hardly be good satire if it wasn't now, would it?

  • Yeah, Von Braun was alright. Tom Lehrer though, he's a genius!

  • when the first V2 hit London, von Braun said "It was a successful launch, but it landed on the wrong planet"

  • He aimed at the stars but sometimes he hit london

  • What an utterly ridiculous song.

  • Von Braun was a genious. American modern space and missile technology, all based on German sciences and von Braun's plans and notes.

  • Early USSR as well in 30/40s, actually Germans helped the Soviets in developing science before they attacked, & Stalin was giving oil, row materials...

  • But after World War II, our Germans were better than their Germans!

  • Lehrer was right: the Chinese are today way ahead in the new Space Race. If Von Braun were alive today, he'd be certainly learning Mandarin!

  • von Braun was a genius, its a shame that he dont get much attention these days. He was basically the man that reached the moon and kennedy hired him after the american rocket team failed.

  • I always thought it was nice how we showed off our moral superiority in beating the commies in the space race by putting a prominent Nazi in charge of the effort.... not to mention all the other Nazi's we hired less publicly.

  • Thanks

  • By the way the vid is hilarious! hauhua

  • I once had a Jewish girlfriend who stated she would never visit Germany, yet the very soil she stands on is tainted with the blood of several hundred years of slavery, manifest destiny, and the wholesale slaughter of Indians. Thank God, America got the BEST rocket scientist out of all of them in Germany. Another reason why the best cars in the world come from...Germany.

  • But It's funny how they ignored in the same time their own best rocket scientist...Robert Goddard in the first place

  • Goddard was good, but a little too much eccentric, and not quite as gifted as Von Braun intellectually. I don't know if Braun's vision combined with leadership was the pivotal reason why he became flight director, etc of NASA. But both contributed big time.

  • I agree about the leadership skills of Von Braun but not about being more gifted than Goddard:It's the opposite.Wernher Von Braun relied on Goddard's work during the developement of the V2 and before the '39 many Germ.scientist very often contacted him with technical questions that drove'em nuts...misunderstood genius

  • Nice coordination of images with Lehrer's lyrics.

  • Thanks
