As long as they are the same size they will be ok..but if that bass can fit a fish in his mouth thats when you have problems

large mouth bass look at there mouths, there mouth line goes behind the eyes and for small mouth bass mouth line is right under the eyes and no feather, thats how u can tell a large mouth from a small mouth. althought its hard to tell looking a moving bass in the tank.

How did u get your native fish in the tank without killing them. I have been trying to catch and keep bluegill and bass bc i want to use them next year in my aquaponics system but i cant seem to keep them alive for more than an hour.?. I have a 10 gal tank bc i am catching small fish that will be moved to a 220 gal tank next spring and it has just a regular pump and air bubbler. Not sure what I'v been doing wrong.

@TheDaniandco transport them with a battery powered air pump, they are 15 bucks at walmart and 7 bucks at harbor freight if you have one in your town. good luck on your auquaponics I have thought of doing that too.

@fisherfanatic1 Definitely a largemouth, smallmouth don't have that lateral stripe and have very white bellies and the spiny dorsal fin is nearly separate from a soft-rayed second fin which is indicitive of largemouth, smallmouth don't have this gap ,

Beautiful fish nontheless. I used to have a largemouth, he got to be about 5 pounds. Before getting a disease from some cheap department store feeder fish someone bought me. :( I miss him, he was awesome, would get excited when i was near.

@derrell9501 you can buy them from a hatchery or you can go to a buddy's pond and catch one the second one is probably going to be easier, assuming you're a fisherman.
