Lightning was obviously modded. They typically ran low/mid 14's for most drivers, stock, @ about 98mph (Car and Driver, Road and Track, etc). The Integra was good for a high 14 @ ~93-94mph. You could also see the factory boost gauge on the Lightning indicating well over 8psi (probably a 14psi pulley from the looks of it). And no, that truck doesn't weigh "more than double" the ITR. Curb was 4,670 compared to 2,639 lbs.

It only seats 2 people, anything kept in the back is exposed to the elements and to theft unless you buy a locking cover, and the skidpad is only "decent" when compared to other pickup trucks (0.85G in the Ford, vs 0.91G for the Integra R and 0.97G for the FD RX7. Better keep your truck off the AutoX.

I really don't know why I defended the honda so much, I don't even like them, yeah the lightning will win out against a type R, you won the gold trophy. Oh wait this isn't a competition. @850wagonT5 Obviously I was making the comparison that a Lighting would perform more competently in an autocross that an RX-7 or Type R would in towing a boat. The point being the Lightning's faults aren't as glaring as the faults of the RX-7 or Type R in terms of practicality. I hope this explanation is easier for you to process.

@FoDaddy: Faults are relative. People buying RX7's and Type R's probably don't have a need to tow boats with them. However, looking at it the other way...the Lightning has some glaring faults too. It only seats 2 people, anything kept in the back is exposed to the elements and to theft unless you buy a locking cover, and the skidpad is only "decent" when compared to other pickup trucks (0.85G in the Ford, vs 0.91G for the Integra R and 0.97G for the FD RX7. Better keep your truck off the AutoX.

@850wagonT5 So the Lightning offers up 87%-93% of the roadholding capability of the Type R and RX7. Do the Integra and RX7 offer 87-83% of the Lightning's towing and/or cargo capacity? In such comparsion it seems that you give up more capability with the two cars than you do the pickup. Oh and I don't have a Lighting.

How far can that Lightning go on 10 gallons of gas, vs 10 gallons in the other cars above? How about mileage while towing a boat? EPA says 12 city/16 hwy stock...how about when towing 5000 lbs? While the Type R is getting an EPA rated 25 city/30 hwy. Oh, and I don't have a Honda. But I did have a Ford! :)

Makes about as much sense as using a "performance vehicle" as a "tow rig" if you ask me. ;) Again, people buying CARS as performance toys probably don't own a boat, therefore, couldn't care any less about a towing capacity. Those who do, probably have a tow rig already. That said, my race car was the only thing I ever needed to tow, and my Volvo could tow it just fine. lol! Under 3k lbs with trailer. I'm just not a truck guy. =\ I'd rather seat 4+.

You'll also need other performance parts to support the system and a decent tune as well, which in terms makes it unfair running a stock Lightening. Like I said there's a lot of variables involve and it's ridiculous to compare. And if the motor did lose 4 cylinders it would be different yes, but still can't compare because we don't know what the specs are. Both cars are amazing and unique in their own wy

@02honda4eva Ok first of all a Lightning will run mid 13s average and have ran just into the 12 range with good drivers, second you might want to to keep that power to wieght ratio stuff to yourself a lightning has 450lbs of tq and 380 supercharged horsepower. Prolly bbetter than the R. This aint the old farm ford here this is a sport truck that has no problems leaving the line hell they run neck and neck with the vettes of that same year in the 1/4 mi ofcourse not topend.

Even if the ITR floored it theres no way a b18c will stay up with a svt cobra on a top speed run no possible way ever. Ive owned plenty of hondas and now i have a fully tubbed/built 99' lightning. IDC what u say my k24 eg with 250hp all motor cant even stay up with stock cobras. the cobra has twice the displacement not to mention its supercharger has the same displacement of the b18c. That ITR is 1 of my dream cars and i would happily take 1 over a cobra even if i already own a ford:D
