Lucic should be going after the puck, and Miller is not fair game to get run over just because he came out of the net. That's a penalty at the least.

He is racing full speed for the puck because if he catches up to it he has a breakaway. Miller plays the puck a split second before Lucic hits him. Miller is well out of his crease and should expect contact. With Lucic and Miller both racing to the loose puck, the contact was unavoidable.

@gleeson630 I disagree. I play goal, and I have been in a similar situation, as has every goalie. When you are racing for a puck and you are that far out of the net you should expect to get hit. I don't think Lucic was trying to lay him out but like Miller says, Lucic has 50lbs on him, so it was a pretty heavy hit.

Lucic should be going after the puck, and Miller is not fair game to get run over just because he came out of the net. I know Lucic didn't put his full force into it but it was obviously intentional and a cheapshot. You're not supposed to be able to bowl the goalie over when you don't have to. That's a penalty at the least.

@gleeson630 Have you seen the full play? Lucic loses control of the puck at center ice by pushing it too far ahead. He is racing full speed for the puck because if he catches up to it he has a breakaway. Miller plays the puck a split second before Lucic hits him. Miller is well out of his crease and should expect contact. With Lucic and Miller both racing to the loose puck, the contact was unavoidable.
