When I was in about 7th Grade, I was in charge of some silly project our class was working on, and too many things were placed on my desk in too short a time. I said "Calgon, take me awayyyyy!" to the shocked and somewhat amused stares of my classmates...
the message here is that you are helpless in dealing effectively with someone who is screaming or barking. Its not them upsetting you, its you upsetting you, get it? You don't need calgon. Even though calgon is great, don't get me wrong. ;-) go to my channel for more on why everyone is such a A-Hole.
@nozcr It's actually 1982. I know the actress in the commercial, Lois Robbins (appearing in Cactus Flower in NYC right now) and we went to school together. This was her first "break"!
Calgon has never taken me away or made me have an outdoor bathing rescue surrounded by columns....But yes I have done the falling back into a pool and off of a flight of stairs, so I suppose Calgon has taken me away!
I want to jump into that sudsy, silky water and bang the bejesus out of her doggy style. woof woof.

I haven't taken a bath since early 1972. But then again, I live in Pittsburgh.

I think this aired in the early 80's, not the 70's. Those blouses didn't hit retail racks until 1980 or '81.

@Diem66 i just read an article on bbc about feminism being turned to indulgence consumerism in the 70s

@jerzkid87 Sad, but true. True feminism is largely misunderstood.
