Thanks man, we had constructed a new castle, that went from hell all the way to the top of the map, but had to scrap out plans to make a video because a dragon moved into our attic, and harpies started living on our roof. We cant go in there without dieing now

Drain the ocean into it. However not possible anymore, as water evaporates when it's going to hell :).

We just drained a bunch of the underground water pockets and an ocean down there, you cant do it anymore, one of the updates made water in hell evaporate.

Yup, we did have 3 crosses on the roof that we would stand on and toss 30 silver coins around, but that got old and somewhat offensive, so we made a basement shrine

The end boss dungeon (aka "skeltor's house") is a random color on every map, on our map it happened to be purple bricks with green wall, if you have a high enough level hammer you can destroy the wall and re-use the chunks.

You can place walls over the rocky background walls, so depends on where the alter is, if it is below the dirt level and above the hell level you can just throw up a layer of wall behind it. If it is in the dirt level you may not be able to do it.

LOL, poor kids.

We use MS paint's circle tool to draw a very small circle. I started out by zooming in all the way and used the thinnest line, and then showed the grid, after that I just counted one pixel as one block.

The best way to build it is to start at the top, because it is the narrowest point, if you are doing one above ground the best way is to determine how wide the base will be, equip than number of blocks and then lay it down first so you will know if things are even.

Also, on the larger domes and spheres I would use the pen in MS paint to mark my progress along the circle with a different color, it also helps keep you from going insane then blind.

It's true, we probably can't change your mind, but we really didn't use cheats. We literally spent scores of hours gathering materials (not only from our world, but other worlds), experimenting with game mechanics, and farming for rare drops to get where we are. That's all not including the actual building of the castle. We're just some guys with helpful friends and a wild imagination. Is it really that hard to believe that a group would put effort into something they enjoy?

The thing is, we didnt have materials in mind when we flooded it, we just kept hitting huge pockets of water and it all drained down. At one point my partner was trying to drown me for like 30min by digging into flooded caverns above me.

Yes it is possible, the guy who was hosting the map sent it to me so I could use it to make the video, even without a steam version you should find the map files in ...

"C:\Users\[USER NAME HERE]\Documents\My Games\Terraria\Worlds"

The maps are the files ending with the".wld" extensions, you may also want to transfer the ".wld.bak" file that goes along with it, I ran into some problems that may have been because I did not transfer the backup and there was some kind of conflict.

Well.... In the underground jungle, I used the water and lava dupe exploit to get the full effect, and because it is way to much work to go to hell to carry up 24 buckets at a time. The rest of the water and lava was hand carried or drained from other caverns. Also, many of the chests were acquired from public servers. So, kinda. Every block was placed by us in game, we didnt use any editors or anything if that is what you are asking.

Wrong. I flooded hell in 1.0.5. Take a lot of gills potions with you and make a hellavator at the aboslute right or left side of the map. I did id on the right. Now the east ocean looks like a beach at high tide.

With a lack of distractions aka "real life" you can do anything. That being said, we didn't do it all at once, we just kinda added on a bit at a time, smoothed things out and decorated as we went along. When we got to the Mushroom Dome, I realized that the entire castle was 4 blocks to the right of center, so I went and moved shifted the entire basement.

We built up, then built the [BOX] out to the right, put background behind it, and filled in the spaces with hellstone bricks, and destroyed the blocks under it. The only type of block that will if nothing is under it is fall is sand.
