whit the bone of this fruits, you can make a terrific natural eye lashes natural rimel, that makes them grow so much, you just ground the bone and mix whit some natural almond or cacao oil, the recipe is mexican, for that many mexican woman stop using usa and other brand of rimels
Oh, No! It IS possible that still may be mature. Try taking a knife and scratching it, just a little, to check the color of the skin underneath. It should be a reddish-orange color. Even mature fruits can be very hard, but you should be able to scratch through the skin. Be sure to do the scratch test at the market before you buy it, so you can be sure that it will ripen.
Good luck to you - I hope that your fruit will eventually ripen for you.
I bought a mamey at the market and the skin isn't even scratch-able--it's so hard! I think it was picked way too early...unless I have the wrong fruit, but I don't think so.
Thanks so much! I'm sitting here in the Dominican Republic and bought this beautiful fruit at the grocery store yesterday. I lept the tag off the packaging and googled the name. Your video is exactly what i was looking for!! Thanks for the great info. Now i can look like i know what i'm talking about!!!! thx......
Glad to hear that you liked our video! We tried to include very practical information in ALL of our videos so that you can enjoy the fruit. Let me know if you'd like to have other information, either in future videos, or on our website.
Sorry, I just saw your comment. Mamey have specific soil and weather requirements, so I would contact your local County Extension agent and ask them. I would take the University of Florida's mamey information sheet with you so the agent can see what the mameys need to grow in your area. You can access that information sheet here on our mamey page on our website, tropicalfruitgrowers(dot)com Good luck!
Yes, mamey IS delicious! It is large (2-5 lbs), has a creamy texture and one big seed. We grow another fruit called sapodilla here in south Florida that is smaller than the mamey, and has 3-5 small, brown seeds inside. The flesh has the texture of a pear, and the flavor of brown sugar. They are in season right now!
Visit our website for more on the sapodilla and to place an order.
A sapodilla video comes out this month! Stay tuned to our channel!
