it hasn't stopped, but there hasn't been any new episodes lately due to the Writer's Strike, it should return in the summer or fall season depending if they can get some storylines together on time.

writers strike didnt effect weeds it always goes on hiatus until the summer

The writers strike effected EVERYTHING. When a shows on hiatus, the writers are writing the new season. The writers strike turned everything into a huge clusterfuck for the next year. I'd be very surprised if Weeds is back on at its regular time this year. Rescue Me (one of my favorites) usually starts in may or june and plays all summer, but it wont even be on this year because of the strike
