It's funny how ppl say thy gts hav loads of power. I thought tht too when I had my 03 gt. Wrecked it, bought a 04 cobra. Now.... Thts power. Can't describe the feeling til u are n one.
stock GT tranny. This was with 3.30 rear end. I bought it used, and I think the guy before me put in a 3:30 for gas mileage. It was pretty long gearing, but did cruze at like 2k rpm at 70mph. I later put in the 4:10s and it made all the difference in the world. V8 + 4:10 = winning.
Oh I'm sorry. I thought you were just joking. I didn't read your channel so I didn't know you were 15. To answer your question, this is the 4.6L V8 with 300 HP and 320 LBFT. It is the stock 5 speed manual transmission with a hurst short throw shifter added. If theres anything else you want to know, just ask. I'll be glad to help you. Your going to love this car when you get it! Just be careful, it has a lot of power.
I have a 07 GT and recently installed the Hurst billet shifter. I had to use the stock rubber bushing on front mount. The hole in the poly bushing is too small to accomodate the steel sleeve insert (the thing the bolt goes through. The Hurst shifter does not come with a steel insert. It was late at night and I had to get the car back together. It works fine this way. If anything, it may be a bit quieter. I installed the rear poly mount that came with the Hurst. It is the important one.
at the beginning it looks like your car turn right when you turned the steering wheel left! omg lmao!! nvm i wasn't paying attention to you putting it in reverse! lol
@bwilliams2049 yup, its sort of a pain. I bought separate locking nuts from the hardware store and used locktite. That seemed to do it. The problem is the thing rattles like crazy at high rpms, and those bolts take the brunt of it.
@bigmike97dak I have not driven a 03 style so I cant speak from experience, but I hear the S197 (newer), are a much better chassis. (Stiffer, more responsive) My favorite part about the car is the sound, and thats going to be similar in both cases. I'd say get whatever you can get the best deal. Look for one where the previous owner did some expensive mods, and you can basically get the mods for free (If you trust the previous owners ability to install mods).
thanks for your imput! Im going to brandon ford tomoro to see whats up test drive a 06 mustang gt, and my brother is loaning me his car to go up there (03 gt) so I guess Ill feel tomoro wich one I want
@bigmike97dak I have owned both an 03 Mach1 and an 08 GT and I can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt the new one is more comfortable and feels better built but that Mach1 was WAY more brutal. The 4 valve DOHC 4.6 kicks the SHIT out of the 3 valve SOHC despite the nearly identical performance figures. The 08 just doesn't feel anywhere close to the ass kicking brutality of that Mach in my opinion. You can get a Mach1 right now for like 12-15k with low miles. I'd go that route if I were you.
@THEUrinalCake hell yeah bro the 4 valve is what i been hearin kicks ass, I think im gunna build my truck first tho check my vids soon and ill get some up
yes, it is an upgraded shifter. It reduces the distance between gears, so you can shift more quickly. It also gives a more precise feel to the shifting, so you can be sure you'll hit the gear you want. Basically, it makes driving a manual much more fun.
hey just one more question, i neve ractualy installed a hurst shifter my self ive just driven them, i know i can install them but i was just wondering on how ahrd it actualy is, i read a install guide for them and it seems fair easy and straight foward. just wondering what you thought
I would say it is an easy to moderate install. There are just a few bolts that hold it in place, the hardest one to reach requires an extension, I think. It has been awhile since I did the install, but it probably took about 4 hours, I had no problems.
Hey, thanks for the comments. mods list: Hurst Billet, C&L Racer intake with tune, boomtubes, some dynamat in the trunk, spoiler delete, 3D Carbon Eleanor grill... I think thats it. The hurst was the most dramatic change in the car. I'd like to get a Roush suspension next, but... pricey.
I hate a shifter that moves when you let go of it in gear. My Hurst in my GTO did that so I pulled it out the same day I installed it.

Hell of a time getting the boot to look decent thought. I had to use a zip tie on the connection to the rubber boot and it sticks out a tad

Got it installed, thanks for the lock tight tip. Had a he'll

Did you have any problems with the bolts at the bottom of the arm coming loose?

This must be the shortest throws i've ever seen, especially in a mustang! This thing is a beast!

Hi, did the hurst shifter come with a boot.
Or do you just have to use stock
TatteredStraw 2 years ago
no boot, I did reuse the stocker. It does come with a new flange that fits over the hurst stick better.
