@TheGermanshepherd101 I use real frogs in Ontario, Canada. There populations have increased dramatically lately and we're encouraged to use them. They are really good to use up here, some of the fattest Bass and walleye's I've caught......... and stuff. There's so much open land up in the algonquin area that everything natural species flourishes...... and stuff!!

this guy is obviously not ever gonna skip this frog under tree limbs or docks, you need a shorter rod for something like that. Probably a 6'6" or 6'8" MH to H action rod. Californians are just used to open water, low cover areas though I guess.

50lb. braid that's a little intense i use 10lb. braid and tighten my drag all the way and pull in 20lb. carp i only tighten it all the way cuz like 20 feet after the way they run is really fast moving water so i would lose them in all the rocks but 10 is plenty enough.

are there any other techniques? I went fishing and had a blast with more explosions but I could not set the hook. The bass took the bait but I couldnot set it. also I wait but sometimes for long so I move. then as I move the fish explodes but know hook set. also is it better to let the bait sit for long or run it across the lilly pads or brush?

Use a long heavy fast action rod for better hooksets. Also Like others have already said you MUST wait a few seconds before setting the hook. Bass will take your lure and momentarily open their mouth, and you'll just pull it out (or get a sub-par hookset) if you set it too soon. an stuff...

I fished this frog for 8 hours yesterday in a mossy pond and had more bites in my life...But couln't set the hook on but just a few...It started pissing me off when I pulled two mounters to the bank and they spat it right into my hand before I could grab them...Any advice for that?

you gotta let the fish take the lure down what i do is count to 2 then set the hook if you set the hook when you see the splash youll lose most of em because your pullin it away but if you let them turn and take it and set the hook your pulling it to them and setting the hook properlly-GOOD LUCK MAN

Uh, no. You will break your rod on a hookset with a firm tip. Med/heavy with a good backbone but a supple tip so the braid doesn't shatter your rod on a hookset.

I really don't think that that this lure is a great bait for open water. The double hook is pressed against the platic frog body, so you will wind up missing a lot of fish when they strike. They are really geared towards fishing vegetation and can be very productive at certain times of the day. Just don't expect to hook a fish on every strike. Also... If you add a rattle in each leg-hole, your bait will gain sound and you will be able to cast it further.

You dont live in California nor do you fish the Ca Delta! A frog in August is AWSOME in Open water and Veg. Anywhere really and if you doubt it I personally invite you to fish it! Headed out to the delta right now and there spawning. Will I throw a frog ? Hell yes find a male on the bed hook him real quick and toss him in the live well put wieght in the frog till it suspends drop it on the bed and watch for mama hawg to run in and protect that bed! FISH ON! Gotta love Cali!
