The legendary Ms Ruth Pointer, and her daughter Issa, and the fabulous Sadako played Auckland, New Zeland last month. FABULOUS. And thanks for signing my cd Roxy. You are a truly talented family.
You are wrong, the pointer sisters are singing live, I have the record in my house and the sound of the voices are different and the end of the record is still different .
I lament the absence of wonderfull ladies like these... and Millie Jackson, Nona Hendrix, Roberta Flack, Gladys Knight... there just isn't any sould left in music... and we're supposed to fill the void with Beyoncé Knowles? I don't think so.
The Pointer Sisters released this in the Spring of 1981, then Del Reeves covered it later that same year. Conway Twitty's cover in 1982 was good, but not THIS good.
@krimsonpage No, no, no. This song was written FOR the Pointer Sisters by John Bettis and Michael Clark. Conway Twitty covered it afterward. I'm sure the Pointers approved of his version!
Awesome ! I can still remember listening to this on the beach in Seaside Park . My eyes closed listening to the waves and the song at the same time A beautiful summer . Young and in love with my future wife .
Wow, that's me Barry Coates/guitar(Gibson L-5) playing with Ramsey Embick/piano, Doug Florence/drums, Joe Mumford/guitar, Donald Boyette/bass and Rich Eames/piano. It was a great time to be with the Pointer Sisters and they were great people.
u know wat i was thinking about this song, this would have been a perfect song to put in the Movie Scarface with Al Pacino, even know the movie was shot in 1983 the movie was depicted as being set in 1981,
Not sure who recorded it first. John Bettis &n, Conway Twitty & The Pointer Sisters recorded it. Maybe its because I heard theirs first or because I'm a girl, but I like the Pointers' best.
@WildeNotesMusic Conway Twitty also does a nice version, but I'm a guy, and seems to me the song lyrics are better suited coming from the woman's perspective? Nobody does it better than Pointer Sisters (imo). Thanx for the posting.
If the pointer sisters asked me.....I would say yes.

Beautiful. This is a Conway Twitty (peace be upon him) tune. Therefore, its a country song.
The Sisters do it so sweetly. I'm sur Conway heartily apporved. (How could he not, these women were a force to be reckoned with...so talented.)

it kind of sounds like a seduction line. LOL

Love the Pointers! Believe Anita was pregnant during this period; pretty sad - her daughter Jada passed away at a young (adult?) age.
OrchidIslander 2 years ago
nooo, Anita wasn't pregnant. Jada died in 2003; she was in her mid-late 30s. Anita had her in the late 1960s.

No, she had Jada back in the sixties.
