I have heard a tom gobble in late December while hunting woodies ( A first for me,one other time in mid February since.) but he did it on his own with no prompting from any yelping.. This sounds like a tom answering hen yelps in the spring.

you should go look at the yahoo story about the increase in bear population and how that even black bears are growing less and less scared of humans and so more attacks on humans are happening then maybe you won't complain about shooting them..
