Life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the ones who treat you right, forget the ones who don’t. Remember that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance take it......
i never really understood or liked the song, but then both my grandparents passed away in 1 month and i listened to it now i cry like a baby every time
I miss the chicks, they touch my soul. I am so glad I can listen here. Thank you for touching my world with your music and strength. Love and bless you ladies.
i will support Dixi chicks, come on Australia!!!!, we will well i will make a petition to support the girls and there beautiful singing, violin playing and guitar fiddle sounds love Alexandra, country girl N.S.W wagga wagga
Perhaps the three of the greatest singer, songwriter, musicians, performers, we are likely to ever see. I miss the chicks. Somebody need to do something.
This is one of the sadiest music videos i have ever seen. it made me cry so much that I couldn't even finish the video. its such a sad, but beautiful, song.
I saw them preform this song live in Ottawa . The cd had just come out so no body really knew the song. They turned off every light in the arena and put on three spot lights then played the video on the big screen. They had 20 000 people cry, I have never experinced anything like that ever.
MY HUSBAND IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE AN ARMY SOLDIER. HE IS NOW CONSIDIERED DISABLBLED. IT TOOK US 3 YEARS TO GET HIS. NOW I AM AN ARMY WIFE WHO IS DEALING WITH A MAN THAT IS NOT THE SAME AT ALL. HE IS ON MEDS AND DEALING BUT IT IS SO VERY HARD TO BE A SUPPORT FOR HIM. I AM ASKING FOR ME AND MY KIDS. KAT
This video is sad but its evening sadder that this is reality for so many people I hope mankind ends this cycle. To those who can not love because of the past you must try your children need your love. Saying I love you is important but showing your children your wife or your husband unconditional love is more important then anything thing.
OMG i'm crying right now! such a sad song, i've always thought but has never seen the video till just now. now every time i hear this song i'll think of this video and the song will be so much more sad!
I was sitting outside 1 night visiting my mom,nd I asked her why had she never said 2 any1 of her children that she loved us.(We all knew of cause that she did)But I wanted 2 know why she hadn't said those 3 little wrds that I cld ever remb nd I was 39 at the time,nd she simply said "u know I do so why say it" I told her it wld be nice 2 actually hear those wrds from her mouth before she ever passed away. That was 5yr's ago now and we ring each other once a wk nd she neva fails to say I LUV YOU.
@happyperson3131 My brother played this song on the piano along with the original song and it sounded amazing, it's a very powerful song even with out the piano :)
this reminds me of my family so much, it all started with my grandma. She never really encouraged my mom to go past her fears and show other people how much you love them. so my mom has never really done that for me... If I ever have kids I plan on showing them as much love as i can, even if it kills me. I'll never degrade my kids like my grandma and mom have done
@snow cat - we may be related..... although i cant imagine my father having two families when most of the time he couldn't "participate" in one. @therealmensa -- you're a complete douchebag.
At what point do you value one person over the next? Where do you begin to draw the line between who matters and who does not.
If I can't make my life, matter to me, I can still make it somehow significant to any of the billions of people on this Earth.
Because when one person dies they take so many others with them. So tell me if you really do believe this, and then tell me how does one human life not matter?
Did you seriously just tell me to kill myself? What is your problem? Who the fuck do you think you are? I try not to feed the trolls but this is just over the fucking line.
@Therealmensa How dare you! It's people like you who push people to the limit, where they might slip and take their own life. You're disgusting. How dare we not love one another unconditionally. Treat others the way you wish to be treated. Grow the f*** up, and stop attacking people who have had enough sh** in their lives already.
my mom was treated terrible by him and hated her, she reminded him of how he was. he treated her bad because his mother treated bad. and he wanted to show her how it felt. But when my mom turned 16 she wanted to get married to my father yet she stood up to him and told him she loved my father. when he wouldnt listen my mother came up to him and said " one day youll regret being this way but it would be to late.." and my mother married my father.. and even tho she was treated badly from my grampa
this reminds me of my grampa on my moms side, he was treated terrible, his mother was divorsed by his father, because she was a lil witch. So she took it all on him and every day he said he loved her.... she would say "thats what your father said, look at him now" and she would walk away. whn he turned 10 she would leave him home alone while she went to work and as he grew up he found a women who he made marry him, she tried make him feel better about himself. they evanually had my mom
Thumb up if you are listening to this in 2011 and still think that Dixie Chicks kick ass! First time I heard this, must have been ten years ago. Still in love with it. <3
I listened to this for the first time a little while after it came out. Although I amn't obsessed with the Dixie Chicks, I never ever forget this song, and I'm always coming back to it.
@BlondexBabey94 It's about three generations of women. The first one could not give any love to her son. He grows up without being able to experience parental love. As a consequence he cannot love his wife or daughter. The mother of his daughter does know how to give love to the child. She breaks the chain. The girl can give love to her daughter and to her old father. The father regrets that he has never been able to show his love. He dies an unhappy man.
I find this song so beautiful and emotional and I've listened to it dozens of times and I still find it just as beautiful as the first time I played it.
i love this song, but why it breaks my heart is because with parents.we do not see them has human like they dont feel like we do.at least when i was alittle girl what i thought.so this song to me is a symbol of that.
I love this song . I hope to brake the chain of my crazy family by not having any kids . My sisters have had kids and I can see already that there kids have the same problems that their parents have . You can only blame your parents for so long and than at some point in your life you have to say NO MORE - I am not going to be like them ...

Powerful message, and just from a musical standpoint the part starting at 3:50 on has excellent counterpoint.
