  • derex no lyrics vide0 of dix xong... :(((

  • good but not as good as original, sorry i have to say cat stevens is muc better

  • They are both good this has a different feeling into it and cat's has a different one aswell.

  • Can anyone point me in the direction a high quality version of this? Preferably the studio version, and not an excerpt from the film. This is a beautiful song. Thanks for putting it up.

  • I learned to play guitar with Cat Stephens' music, big fan, but Elvis rocks this song! Thanks for posting this.

  • I think I only like this one better because it's on the Invention of Lying, and I adore Ricky Gervais, and everything to do with him. :)

  • this is better than the original i think

  • it's not better than the original. Cat Stevens had better voice, and more feelings.

  • it scares me how much better this is than the original

  • it's great and love elvis,, but no one can do it like cat

  • As much as I love Elvis Costello, this cover lacks the emotion that the original has. Also, I prefer that you can clearly hear the bassline in the original. I do like Costello's cover but it's definitely not as good, not to me anyway. Sorry wee Elvie Costellie! :D

  • Confirmation of my suspicions below is the existence of a page here at YouTube that speaks of a "fixed" version of Sitting, featuring a woman in a black dress on a divan but no audio track. Can someone investigate this, please? i HATE when someone screws around with people's personal property, even rich person's like Elvis Costello's, invading their privacy and mocking them.

  • I don't get a sense of genuine 'soul-searching' like in Yusuf's original from this. It's more like Elvis is doing a mocking "sexy" club-singer cover with his wife (who I believe was casually noodling on the tune at their home, inspiring him to sing it in the first place and to later flesh out the song, utilizing the original home recording throughout, even including the phone ringing at the end.) I wonder if this wasn't either stolen or borrowed, it seems too personal to wind up here.

  • @GeorgeHarrysSon Could the phone be from the movie? It is a soundtrack, after all.

  • Hey, guys, my opinion is better than yours; therefore, you must adore Cat Stevens.

  • Great song. The Invention of Lying could've been a great movie if Ricky Gervais wasn't the lead in it. Everytime he said something it annoyed me a little, good concept though.

  • he sounds so much better

  • @Moc870 Good cover but nothing beats the original

  • Costello's version is without a doubt the definitive version of this song now.

  • Wow -- one of my top favorite Cat Stevens songs, sung by my favorite artist -- I had no idea!

  • The Invention of Lying is probalbly the best movie ever.

  • holy shit! Amazing cover!

  • head like an orange.

  • Beautiful song love the chords changes Elvis sings the melody really well.

  • this is weak compared to good ol' cat/yusuf

  • ok. nice try.

  • Yes I am drinking. I did misspell at least two words. Excuse me. I love a cocktail.

  • I realize it is only a part of the original tune. Give Elvis some credit folks. He did not rape, rob, or pilage the original. It is pretty friggin good for a movie soundtrack. It made us all look it up and listen.

For those of you looking to disagress with anything. Save it.

  • I really disliked the "keep on wondering if I sleep too long" part of the original. it seemed cacophonous, somewhat obnoxious.. but I love what Costello did with that part of the song.

  • Cat Stevens wrote a great song. I really like Costello's performance. It actually sounds like something he would write. This is my new favorite song because of this performance. Thanks to both of them.

  • cat stevens no elvis costello yes!

  • Listen to this .Then ,immediately listen to the Yusef Islam version.Costello is a 10X Better vocalist than Islam. His voice just slices through your soul. True , Art : The creation of something beautiful from nothing. But in this case I think Elvis took Nothing ,and made it beautiful. Just My Opinion.

  • I am sorry ,this is soo much better than the original . He is so wizard. it was written for him ,Usef just didn't know it at the time.

  • Touch of artisiic crativity to a great song!

  • I love this part in "The Invention of Lying." Such an emotionally powerful scene.

  • @KingMP21 Agreed entirely :)

  • I WANT THIS SONG FOR MY IPOD! But there isn't anywhere to find it. Which blows

  • @Yurkowski35 go to dirpy.com

  • faq the original

  • I like this version better.

  • Does he sing "flowers growing in my hair"? funny, but the original with the "power growing in my hair" is so strong and existential ...
