  • 2:24 OMGEE Vista!

  • i wanna slap these people with an ipad!

  • hope those people are still alive and looking back at how dumb this was lol

  • Can this be used as JUST a backup device, and have nothing whatsoever to do with my router / modem ?

  • WTF IS AT?! A dik in a box?!

  • So in 1997 they had holographic technology, AppleShades with tiny ass floppy disks / SD cards, and computers that order parts for itself... So they have enough special effects for that shit but not enough for something remotely similar to... idk... Flatpanel technology?!?!!? stop showing off current tech and trying to pass it off as future tech when you yourself state how computer tech "...doubles every 2 years" :/

If you can pull THAT shit out of your ass you can pull out a Flatpanel display

  • thats why APPLE is great because chuck norris is one of the designers of it. thumbs up?

  • WoW they were dead on about the comedy.

  • jack tramiel opened an new restaurant today!!!! hahahahahaahhaha

  • LOL 1:11 macbooth?

    5:47 imac g5 reference?

  • Is there anything in this video about their entire corporation being saved by their Walkman division?

  • Maybe they jinxed themselves :P

  • the Vista Mac II? really? lol Mac is a joke.

  • i like how the mac plus and SE's have color screens and can produce pitch-perfect human voices

  • It's Funny how they predict what will 1997 look like when this video was made in 1987

They think they will still have the same First Mac Design and the Apple II and thinks John Sculley will still be chairman

Apple almost went bankrupt in 1997

Its good how they predicted the internet =D

  • @sirable1 Apple didn't "predict" the Internet. The Internet was about 10 years old in 1987. Sure, regular people didn't have it/need it yet, but Apple knew about it.

  • LOL @ 6:30. God bless you, Jack Tramiel.

  • Vista Mac? What the heck. Apple was copying Microsoft even back then.

  • I really hate you.

  • Why? Just about everyone knows that Mac really copied much of Windows already. Thats why Macs only have 1% of the world market, while Microsoft is 98% percent. Macs are just an afterthought.

  • Mac OS copied Windows. Bravo. Mac OS copied Xerox, there was NO Windows then.

  • Obvious troll, fly away. What you say makes no sense. Nobody shall believe you.

  • Why am I labelled a troll when all I'm saying is the truth. Windows 1.0 was well on its way before the Mac. Everyone knows that, and jobs got mad at Bill Gates and tried to blame him for stealing apple interface. It's a load of lies.

  • But it's not the truth. microsoft were notified about everything happening in the mac project as early as 1981, they were second party developers. Most likely they started on windows after the initial mac tech demo of july in that year. Note that windows 1.0 was far, far more simplistic yet still came out a year later.

  • Sure if thats what Mac people believe. The only truth out there is that 98% of the planet uses Windows, because its the best. If macs where the best it would be more than its little tiny 2%. Thats a fact.

  • I've got actual proof of how apple and Microsoft interacted, from the accounts of someone who was actually there. I know what the events of Macintosh development were. I should point out that Microsoft knew of, and had seen a prototype of the Mac before the first PC ever hit store shelves.

Your statistics are wrong. By 2009 Apple had 9.63 of the market. That's a fact.

Windows is only used by most people because of shady business practices. you forget the 90s Anti-trust case?

  • 9.63 percent of the market? After more than 20 years? ahahaha thats pathetic. Like I said, Microsoft is the best and the market proves it. Thanks for letting everyone know.

  • The best at bullshit maybe. They got the IBM PC contract by what? Lying. they said they had a CP/M clone ready for the 8088 and 8086 and they didn't. They had to go out and buy QDOS. The PC platform spread because that hardware was easy to copy, then MS just provided the last of the puzzle. and Win32 was based on OS/2 which was mostly IBM work.

Why didn't they lose to other os'? because they forced OEMs into only shipping windows.

Do your research, don't just make shit up.

  • I'm not making anything up. You said it yourself. 9.63 market for mac. After 20 or more years, thats all they got, while Microsoft is 90% or more. That means people prefer Windows over those crappy macs. Thats why people who buy them don't know any better. Windows is superior and the market proves it.

  • People bought PCs with windows because there was nothing else in the store. There was nothing else in the store because Microsoft forbid OEMSs from selling computers with non-MS operating systems.

The PC hardware itself became popular because it was possible to clone it with the cheapest parts, and MS licenced to anybody. Economy of scale snowballed from there.

And don't say the market proves it's superior. The market proves it is cheaper. How much of the 80's systems have you even used?

  • To expand on my question, are you also aware of the DOJ Anti-trust case against Microsoft in the 90's? They were convicted of anti-competitive practices. They are also getting their arses kicked for the same thing by the EU.

And have you ever used Commodore Amiga? Atari ST? Acorn RISC? at launch each machine in those product lines wiped the floor with the PC/DOS/WINDOWS market in performance and price. So much for your stupid idea that the best products are most popular on the free market.

  • They have to blame SOMEBODY.. not themselves of course :) The real reason for their failure is being overprice. Why would I spend $2000 on a piece of proprietary hardware that I can't even play games on? lol I'd rather buy a $400 pc that I can actually buy software for. Apple should just give up and start shipping all their stuff with Linux..

  • Or close down or just license Windows on their machines. Windows 7 runs better than mac x anyway. Everyone knows that.

  • It doesn't. 7 runs about the same as OS X lepoard. I've got both on the same home built PC and the boot times and general responsiveness are the same.

And why would they give up when they are a single company that's got a whole ten percent of the market? Considering the hundreds of PC manufacturers that's an amazing achievement.

  • Look, your just "maybe" 9% of the market vs 90+% of Windows buyers/users. Lucky to be allowed to exist by Microsoft. Thats why MS felt sorry for Apple and gave them some moral boost by buying some shares that means nothing to Microsoft, since they would have won that lawsuit anyway. If anything Apple should be grateful for Microsoft saving that company.

  • Allowed to exist? Look mate, apple is chipping away at windows market share all the time. and even if they didn't sell to normal customers anymore they'd still have the media (sound video and desktop publishing) markets which PCs have been traditionally too crap to compete in.

Why don't you answer my questions? Is it because you are to much of a coward to admit you don't know? that you've only ever used Microsoft products? you're pathetic.

  • Here is your proof that macs are not selling well at all. It's falling behind. Arstechnica just posted charts. Apple is so low its laughable to even add it on the list.

  • Not selling well? According to that they actually sold even more units, but the other companies sold more still. Might I point out they are beating Toshiba? enough of your spin doctoring.

You are still avoiding my questions, coward.

  • Spin? ahahaha mac hardware and os sales are pathetic. Look at the chart again please. All those venders are for Windows. Thats right. Windows OS and hardware vendors combined crushes the mac easily. One vender may sell less than the other, but its still the same Windows OS for the hardware. Who's spinning the numbers now? Mac people are so desperate...

  • One moment you're looking at hardware sales from companies, the next you're looking at preinstalled OS sales. Looks like spin to me. And don't call me a mac person, the only mac I own is eleven years old and I bought it second hand in 2006.

It's funny you call me desperate, yet YOU HAVE CONSISTENTLY FAILED TO ANSWER MY QUESTIONS. Speak up cowardly troll, lest the entire internet see your ignorance.

  • The ignorance is not knowing how to read a simple chart that proves my point. Arstechnica has plenty of these simple charts for you. Apple is 9% maybe market share if your being generou, Windows is 90+%. Meaning a WIN for Windows!!! A big fat loser for Apple. Facts! LOL

  • Oh I read the chart, I look at the numbers involved, and see that apple grew less. not that they shrunk, but they grew less. last year windows lost 1.53% market share after losing 1.46 the previous year. Hell, linux reached 1% in November.

    Answer my questions.

  • Haha.. you FAIL! LOL Thanks for confirming Apple losing again.

  • I actually pointed out that apple hadn't lost any sales and in fact were still gaining, and that microsoft are losing OS marketshare at roughly 1.5% a year. You just seem to ignore reality and fabricate your own happy land in your head.

Answer my questions. it's been thirteen posts and you're still ignoring them. Scroll up.

  • The only accurate thing in the video about the future was the stock price.

  • lol at 2:36.

  • they not even mentioned the internet LOL

  • That's because Al Gore made them sign a NDA.. but he was working on it ;-p

  • My favourite wrong prediction in the whole video:

John Sculley still in a job.

  • as well as Mr. Performa himself, Michael Spindler.

  • Haha, Entire computer system in a minidisc sized case, Colour compact macs that talk... Goddamn, Why not?

Does the co-op multitasking cause any problems in the far off land of 1997?

  • @richardmaudsley77 Why not? Because Sculley fired the one person at Apple who even had real vision. Imagine if Steve had been with Apple all through the 90's instead?

  • To be fair, Sculley did have post traumatic stress from the cola wars.

  • LOL, I bet he has flashbacks every time he sees a Coke bottle.

  • this proves that mac wants to take over the world.

Google has beaten them in recent years though.

  • Hehe... Vista Mac.

  • Wow considering all the horrible things that happened to Apple during the 90s this is hilarious.

  • This Very Funny And Interesting ! I Like It.

  • Lol, they thought that the Apple II would still be around in '97

    wow, just wow

  • 1987 fashion in 1997. lol!

  • Only if Jobs had stood in place all time long, Scully has no vision, no taste, he does not know anything about what people want, about how to manage with the company image.

  • Jobs was out of control too. He had failures as well.

However, you are right about Scully. How could anyone do worse (even an out of control lunatic Jobs).

  • how long had you hatt this fealing:P loool

  • apple sign then was sooooo gay....

  • Oct.5 :O thats my birth day sveeeeeeeet lolol!!!

  • Macintosh X !!

  • What they blew in marketshare for PC's, they won for iPods and iPhones.

  • Take a look know

  • Take a look at what? Same situation: big iPhone and iPod markets, small PC market. What changed?

  • love the Vista-Mac

  • 3:44.... looks almost like Bob Ross.... lol.

  • In 1997, I still had my Macintosh Classic, and it still worked.

  • 2:37 - was that a tiny floppy disk? Maybe we should paint flash memory cards to look like tiny floppies :p

  • Haha...presenting the Vista Mac!

  • Bitchin' graphics at 2:20.

  • This is hilarious. I found this vid on a paleo future site.

  • Holographic video calls are made on the iPhone

Voice commands are on most cell phones and there is the MacBook for using laptops and computer narrators already exist

  • "I think we should say something about wine and cheese..."

  • Its not Apple, Its the third-party companies dumpass.

  • Apple hate gamers? Seriously?

  • So what computer would I buy for gaming on Mac??

There are no games to Mac because Apple was never interested to build a rig for gaming that was affordable.

  • Doesn't mean they hate gamers. However, if I were to take up gaming, I would buy a console. If I wanted to play on my computer, I'd get a Windows system.

I don't believe the gaming argument is valid anyway.

  • "What not valid" for you maybe?

I don´t that want to play FPS or RTS with a gimppad and crapy resolution, I dont even own a TV to play it on.

I do 3 things on my compuer, watch movies playing games and surf the net.

I can only do those things on a PC at a affordable price.

  • Mac users can be some of the worst fanboys in the world. Mac has its pros and cons as does PC but Mac user rarely ever find fault in Mac. I think a lot of Mac users buy one simply to be "anti-conformist" and "stick it to 'the man' " Even though Apple is a huge corporation who is after your money just as much as Microsoft. Apple just has trendy marketing. The biggest problem with PC now is the bloated, cankerous excuse for an OS called Vista..

  • Can't forget the really annoying fanboys on the PC side of the fence. I've seen some really terrible ones. assholes on both sides. Actually, why are there even sides? I don't think the choice of computer matters much.

  • hard to play a FPS with one mouse button ;)

  • Haven't you heard? Mac mice have had two buttons for quite a while now! Amazing! They even have some configurable side buttons as well.

I heard you could also plug *other* mice in, and use their two buttons! Astounding.

  • wow.. so progress is being made despite their proprietary nature and the fact that they are 10 times more expensive than a PC. BUT it IS much easier to find a Mac that matches your clock radio and that has to count for something..

  • Dont exaggerate.

  • @brandon9271 Back then there was no such thing as an FPS. LOL, Apple could predict the future but not the invention of real computer gaming? Thank goodness id Software was around.

  • Maybe if Doom had been exclusive to Apple I might be typing this on a Mac right now! :D

  • lol Microsoft pretty much dominated the 90's :P This is why it's funny.

  • That was strange too, because the Macintosh was a better computer, had a mouse, better graphics, had sound, more peripherals compared to PC's, but there were more PC's. It didn't really make any sense, other than the PC's were cheaper. Crappy, but cheaper, so there were more of them.

  • this is amazing. beyond really. the new jedi order would like to form alliance. are you able to help us acquire a higher quality version???

    thank you

  • Cocaine's a hell of a drug

  • "In other news, Jack Tramiel opened a new restaurant today."

    Low, guys, low. But LOL

  • Terrorific...

  • Does blood void a warranty in a cracked glass trackpad? O_o [macshill (chris mccaw)]

  • this obviously didn't happen

  • Woah, Vista Mac. That's some serious fortunetelling shit.

  • now we know where vista came from!

  • They had a good call on Internet kiosks at the airports... Can't say I saw that coming in 1987. As far as Vista Mac, see the iPod accessory called myvu... Scary.

  • What if they show it the Macbook Air in that time?

  • Not to worry. Skynet will become self-aware and start a nuclear war against humanity on August 29, 1997.

  • Skynet still waiting the moment...

  • ... the release of Windows 7? :-D

  • CUTTING-EDGE COMPUTER GRAPHICS at 2:22

  • lol

  • OMFG!

    Just... OMFG!!!

    Dugg!

  • 1997 steve jobs became the iCEO (interim c.e.o.) of Apple, and got apple back in shape.

on that point Steve Wozniak was sorta right in 1987 about apple in 1997 ;)

  • without 1996/97 there wouldn't be an Apple like there is today.

  • Did TBWA produce this? What a bizarre vision of the future.

  • wow. This video... Man.... I don't know what to say... but want to leave a comment.... so cheesy.

Hrmm. modules.... funny. Man.... where's my mac booth at the airport?

  • Oh my my. The mid-1990s to the early 2000s were one of Apple's worst years!

  • Haha, hilarious!

  • Oh, dear... 1997 in reality was about the worst year Apple ever had. Thanks for posting the video!

  • This video made my day.

  • Yeah, "the Apple vision": become the president of the company, fire it's founder and CEO, then lead the company itself to the disaster, till they fire YOU and pray HIM to come back 15 years later and save the day.

    That's what you did assface!

  • lol so windows stole the idea for the name "vista"

  • And then Scully almost ran the company into the ground. Maybe Jobs should have left him selling sugarwater.

  • wow woz used to be skinny

  • Oh deer.. shame it was 1997 .. the year they nearly went bankrupt

  • lol. "Gravenstein"? "Macintosh X"?

  • The Vista mac?! WTF?!
