Just saw the TIV upgrades, incorporating lighter-weight armour and the two hydraulic spikes. Very cool. Looks kinda like an APC... going to war with Mother Nature.

TIV mk II: lose all the armour plating in favour of welded steel tube roll/debris cage + steel mesh+kevlar for lighter weight vehicle, two plexiglas layers with steel mesh between for windows, and here's the cool bit... so that you don't get blown over, four reloadable explosive ground spikes with retractable anchoring teeth to prevent retraction even if the primary spikes come loose. Sensor launching canon on the roof, lots of antennas, LCD screens etc. Nice big Discovery Channel logo too.

It weighs a whopping 9 tons. That's a pretty substantial amount of dead weight to be lifted by menacing winds of a tornado. That doesn't mean it can't, couldn't and won't be lifted by any means, but most tornadoes doen't weild that much force. I am from Kansas too and I don't even think I would have the nerve to drive inside of one either, lol.
