  • I think it really is that slow. I am just glad that I am not the one doing it! :)

  • that is amazing! Speed is irrelevent, He took two usually seperate skills and combined them into something awasome. i love it! ^_^

  • Is this video made in slow motion or is this just a really slow machine?

  • Sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooocooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • Even lego has become gay.

  • thats awesome but realistic like a ssllooww grandma

  • tutotial please!!

  • Wow that is awesome.

  • just they grandma makes it SLOWLY #LOL :D

  • cool

  • can you do a video on how to make one, it is sooooooooooo cool and i badly need it for my homework

  • super like:))

  • That is so cool. I would have never thought that they could get lego's to knit something like that. way cool.

  • do a time lapse

  • this somehow reminded me of 2001: a space odessey. it had the same feel as all the ridiculously long shots of the ship slowly floating through space w/ the classical music going on the in the background

  • Nice!!

  • Fantastic!!!

    RMK

  • Where can I find this music?

  • @vermuchosvideo The music is Pruit Igoe by Philip Glass

  • Stargate replicators! Now we know where they come from! :D

  • My school has a Robotics program. It's great to explore NXT. We focus on taskbots. Such as sumo bots and racing. We even have a regional compotition.

  • Great clip thanks. I'm just starting out and have picked up some good pointers at ebeginnersknitting (.) com

  • what does it make?

  • a 2 minute video and now all my troubles are gone

  • i knit wayy faster than that, but still awsome machine, how did u make dis?:)

  • FUN!

  • amazing and fun

  • cool but can you make a video how to make it please thanks

  • never see the end product?

  • i find it quite relaxing to watch actually

  • Moving at a whopping speed of one sock per lightyear!

  • @Scownage thats just 1 year,

  • it is cool but too slow

  • That's incredible...

  • 3 hours later.... oh wow i got... 5 inches of a sock?

  • lol

  • @Dragonicafan No, a cord.

  • I wonder if it could run any faster

  • This thing is cooler in person

  • Run Away. It's going to assimilate us!!!

  • AH, LOL, CRAP, SPECHLESS

  • wooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! lol omg!

  • speechless lol

  • sell yer design to lego! I wanna build that!

  • 5 stars

  • hey tom pretty awesome machine you got there : )

  • You are a god! Now make me some fucking socks!

  • what does it knit?

  • Tube socks and stockings :)

  • Beautiful

  • very cool and original

  • Great, Execelent!!!!!Original!!!!!!!

  • wow :O pro

  • That must of took a while to figure out!

  • wow

  • Wow That is amazing!!!!!

  • I love it!

  • Fascinating and mesmerizing. AND amazing. Kudos.

  • Should have made a longer original vid and then sped it up.

  • interesting

  • LOVE IT!!!! =O

  • Das ist mal krass ^^ nur dauert dasd wohl ziemlich lange bis man da ein Seil mit mehreren Metern hat :-D

  • still knits faster than I do. D:

  • @healingv1sion LOL was thinking the same

  • Anyone know the name of the song/music being played in the video?

  • GTA IV!!!

  • loving the koyaanisqatsi. nice work on the machine, too.

  • very clever!

  • thats crazy, whos building a knitting machine ?

  • you should take part at a competition with that thing xD

    great!!

  • i can do that faster, but to use something like lego which is not that easy to make what you want, is pure genius. whoever made this should be very proud.

  • duh it goes slow all the parts are run by 1 motor did you see that?

  • no i meant i can do it by hand faster! by lego it is amazing

  • Well, the "Duh Awards 2009" goes to you my friend.

With that level of perception, you should apply for a spotter position in the army or something.

  • where do you get the chain

  • you get them from the healfire droid

  • a brilliant mind made this

  • how did you make that

  • Oh fuck.

    Thats genius.

  • what was the final product?

  • very creative

  • cool

  • Is it that slow? or they just made it slow? but yeah, it is a cool machine

  • Lol i could do it faster ;D

    (its cool)

  • no offense or anything just throwin it out there but would you rather sit there and do it for hours or turn it on and like go watch tv or something.

  • very cool

  • nice thing

  • cool

  • leave that on for as long as you can and see how much it makes

  • cool thing..

i love things with only one motor. very creative!

i made a LEGO NXT loom, but it requires 3...

  • very good idea!!!

  • ..... i dont thin that was knitting because i knitt and i just doesnt work like that

  • It IS knitting--it's making an I-cord.

  • that mech (with a little fine tuning) might make a good 4 legged robot!

  • what is it making?

  • a beannie by the looks of it

  • Wow! This is amazing... But I really must say, in the amount of time it took to build this thing, I could be done with whatever it was I wanted to knit. LOL

And I see that it requires alectricity, something knitting does not. :P

    Shelly

  • either way, it is still awesom!!!!

this could be used by factories in the next few years, building of this type of thing

  • it requires batteries, not electricity.

  • Thanks, Frostbyte. Good to know. It would take all the fun out of knitting for me. ;) But for those who enjoy building with legos, this would be fun. To each theri own.

  • What exactly is it meant to be knitting?

  • no need to go to the shop just make one!

  • quite intreaging Love the mechanics of this epic contraption

  • That is so amazing. I love it.

  • That is pretty awesome; I'm amazed that someone could come up with this made out of legos.

I think I could just sit and watch it for... well, for at least a half an hour before my attention span found some other shiny. But I just wanna see how the knitting turned out! ;p

  • that's a pretty cool, elegant design!

  • that is awesome. 'nuff said

  • sweat shop

  • my lego robotics coach made that.

  • Lol wtf?

  • bit slow but good effort!

  • The point of this is not to have a good knitting machine, it is to show his skill and design from engineering.

  • Exactly that.

  • dude, you are right you are so so right.

  • ok ive seen a lot of lego guns, but as soon as i saw a knitting machine i was like woooow, people r smart lol

  • ok how do people do this $&!#

  • looks kinda creppy, the music just adds to the affect.

  • what kind of evil mind, who probibly still lives with his/her mom, has time to create this. it's amazing... im just mad that i didnt come up with it first

  • This is amazing. It works just like the hand-cranked 'toy' rope knitters. I'm a spinner and hubby built my first ball winder and lazy kate from his Legos. I mentioned I could use a new loom. He just grinned.

  • YOUR A FUCKING GENIOUS

  • it's knitting a rope, a separate lego robot is tying it into a noose off screen

  • That's actually kind of creepy when combined with the music...

  • i agree, but the music also made it more interesting

  • This would take approx 500 years to make a sweater! Ill just as your grandma!

  • if you leave it on overnight can you make like a sweater

  • No, your just saying what you think. It's not that fast.

  • Amazing!!!!

  • Sure its not the fastest machine, BUT...thats bad@ss!

  • o.o

  • cool

  • hmm a bit faster and it be more efficient

  • Music score sounds like Philip Glass, like in the Quatsi documentaries. If not, the similarity makes it a good choice!

  • this is how we get robots to make us money!

  • Graet-my Grundmother would love it!!- does it work a little bit faster too?

  • The question becomes: What will you use the knitting machine to make? the holes seem pretty big

  • omg wat u cn make with lego nowadays

  • I would rate it a 5 if it went about 10x faster

  • Where is the music in this clip from? It sounds so familiar.... It fits perfectly with the machine carrying out an analog process...

  • wtf is that?

  • genius

  • oh wow, i love it! this is the kind of stuff i actually daydream about and never figure out.

  • wooow awsome!

  • now I know how to use my grown ups Lego!!!!

    LOL...rofl

  • tzzz wat een reacties

  • that is pretty sick. its kind of a simple concept tho. if u understand knitting( which i dont ) its pretty simple machine but its still sick.

  • woah i saw this in lego universe entitled death star...

    any ways thats really cool!!!

  • shut up. this is for real

  • Nah, its not real, its CGI!

  • really cool must of taken forever and a lot of patience

  • i canonly imagin some woman ou there calling her husband in the room and saying "now why can't you get me somthing usful like that for christmas.. but no you had to getm the kitchen knife set!... " lol

  • wow that must have took forever ro build

  • I'm just waiting for some know-it-all jackass to go "OMG FAKE!!!!".

  • haha brttcrowell did it 13 hours ago :) hahahaha

  • Whats even better is I got someone to bite! And even better, apparently someone thinks you can do video with photoshop now! :-)

    I still miss my legos!

  • how???

  • Really impress! Congradulation!!!

  • imagine that thing doing:1000 k/pm;(knitts per minuite) lolz

  • This is awesome you should write get a patton and write lego to buy the rights from you. You could make some money with your design!!

  • you mean patent right?

  • waaaaay better than all those lego guns. Does this end up making a tube?

  • Who needs a gran'ma now?

  • dude thats some cool shit you made.

  • OMG thanks for posting!!!

It's a great help to my project!!

  • best ever by miles of the best lego in the world

but is it in slow motion

  • great

  • thats probably the the coolest thing anyone could do with legos

  • OHHHHHHH.... MYYYY..... GOSH........

As a guy who has been tinkering with homade robots since about '85, and who uses a loom, (And who used to be in Orchestra) This had me COMPLETELY captivated. This is just In-FRAKKIN-Credible. You totally get my support for coolest video on You Tube.

BTW Where did you get this music???

  • it looks like a horror film ...

  • this is brilliant!

  • SUPER!!!

  • Make it faaaster!!!!

  • Cool tool. Since knitting spool i-cords are finer guages, seems fitting this rig somehow with fiberfill stuffing overlaid with even a muslin fabric tube-layer tube would make carpet cords or any of the usual i-cord garments or hshld items ez to mfr. Cool as it is, it wobbles a bit. The bond-america hand-crank corder works 15' cord of cotton #3 in about 5 minutes. Good inventing!

  • its kinda like sewing lets just say...
