I heard so many good things about this game.

I started watching luchajin's Let's Play.

I am amazed at how such an amazing tale can be woven, with such amazing characters, personalities, backgrounds, diversities, and OSTs. Some of the most amazing music I've ever heard in games lies within Chrono Cross. I wish I had a PS1 now...or a better PC so I could emulate it >>

@blargityish I could not disagree more. I think the PS1 holds at least 5 out of 10 of the best RPG's I've ever played. This being one of them. I didn't like a single Square Enix or SCEA RPG for the PS2 and not for the Xbox or PS3 yet either. Or I liked a few but I haven't love a game since the PS1.

I haven't loved an RPG since the PS1 days, but there are a few games I love (Fatal Frame, RE Veronica, Mirror's Edge).

I agree, the PS1 had some good RPG's, but I think the 16-bit era was the golden age of RPG's (FF6, Mana, CTrigger, Phantasia, Phantasy Star)... just amazing RPG's that were like good books.  The 8-bit era even had better RPG's than today.

@blargityish i have played all of theses games except: baroque dark cloud dragon shadow spell, drakengard which is not a ps2 native game kingdom hearts and i find it a lame excuse for a rpg okage sakura wars started as a dreamcast and window games so you cannot count it either the same i say for the suikodens and the ys series ARE of pc origin you no add them to ps2 catalogue not to mention theses version suck compared to original xeno atlus and odin are only worth of my respect so far and grow

@blargityish well i have played quite a lot of ps2 games and very few of them manage to evoke what ps1 did, ps1 is not so-so ps1 is a console that shined precisely because rpgs most rpgs of the ps2 focus on graphics and open world gameplay while ps1 focused on heavy story good music among other things i don't deny ps2 have good stuffs such as xenosaga but you can never compare ps1 have way more touching and fitting rpgs

@link000000 While I understand what you're saying and why you're saying it - I have thought similar thoughts many times - I think you should reconsider that statement. Some of the reasons games, movies, books etc often are so captivating is that they include only the best parts of stories, and there's no risk involved for us consumers; unlike the real world. You should at least try to have a different mindset than "Our world sucks". A different one might not have included, for instance, CC. ;)
