I have always wanted a U1300 with the radio box. The fact that they are removable, so much function in one vehicle, work truck and mobile home in one. For smaller transport they stopped using defenders about 8 years ago or so, not sure. they use 6x6 pinzgauers now as primary small transport, definitely an improvement as they can also can load pallets on a pinz. though for the price there's nothing better than a defender. ps, there was still a defender graveyard on the camp i was on and they sold quite a few of them while i was there.

The answer is NOT more power. Such a typical misunderstanding by so many people. The Unimog has something rediculous like 600 or 700 ft-lbs of torque anyways. Heck, I have an 80 horsepower Suzuki Samurai--it will get me where I want to go and I don't think it needds more power.
