Williams took the life of Ayrton.I wiil allways remember him in the Mclaren.Michael would of not been 7 times world champ if Senna was there all the way.We will never know.
Will you please shut up? Williams never had ONE driver crash and die in their cars, which is more than one can say about Ferrari, Lotus, Brabham and Honda.
So after never killing one driver before Senna, they suddenly "killed" the best they ever had and which they paid an insane amount of money to get?
its amazing back in the day how exposed their head/helmet was compared to now. i used to remember when drivers entering a turn would tilt their head to help with the g forces which they don't do today cause of design and safety.
its a shame all this change happened because of senna. what's even worse he might have won the title in 96 and if he did i believe he would've retired.
also, what happened to williams? their last great years was with montoya and ralf which isn't saying much.
The FW-16 was quite a handful in the early part of 1994. It was completely different than the all-conquering FW-15C as it was stripped of all it's electronic toys (active suspension, abs, traction control, etc). The rear-end was very unstable and Senna voiced his displeasure. He was truly home-sick from McLaren and grew very close to Alain Prost again. What a sad end to a brilliant career.
It's the car that killed Senna I know, but why was it a shame he left Mclaren? Williams were definitely the team to be with...he probably would have won the championship in 94 despite his 3 opening DNFs...and would have won the championship in 96 and 97 before retiring, in my opinion.
@sutton513 it was going to be a historic time for him wasnt it , and f1 , considering damon only lost the title by a point , in 94 , sadly never happened
@sutton513 I have exactly the same opinion... olus he had title in suzuka, but Balestre was on Alain Prost's side... Frenchman for Frenchman... So he disqualified Senna's fair win...
McLaren was very bad until 1998 and Williams ruled all the years before. So it was logical to go to Williams because he couldn´t saw in the future - which could have happened in a McLaren too !!
@MrShark214 because he wanted to be in a winning team, which Williams was, by the end of the season Williams was winning races and Damon Hill only lost the championship by 1 point. Mclaren didn't win another championship until 1998 with Mika, while Williams won in 96 and 97. So though at the beginning it looked like Senna made the wrong move he was in the right car, sadly we all know the end to the story RIP.
@MrShark214 because mclaren wasn't doing too well for him in 1992 and 1993 and williams were considered the best team for a championship victory so he wanted to move there because he wanted to win but unfortunately the car didn't deliver the goods for him and he ended up losing his life because of a car failiure
Did people blame Ferrari for building a bad car for Gilles Villeneuve? Was the Ferrari "Shark-nose" of 1961 so bad it killed Ferrari's ace driver Wolfgang von Trips? Did the Porsche 956 kill Stefan Bellof?? Of course not.
It wasn't a car failure. It was a circuit failure. Namely a particularly dangerous corner called Tamburello in Imola, where many drivers had crashed BEFORE. Berger in 89, Patrese 91, Alboreto 92, Barrichello 94 (practice).
Boo Williams...
