I usually get over bands quickly, you know when things change and you need something new to relate to... but Mewithoutyou, I just have this deep, undying love for... they never get old.
The lyrics are passionate and beautiful, and I love the intensity in the guitar parts. This is a different type of music that I get more used to the more I listen to it. To an outsider, the vocals might be a little hard to listen to because it isn't singing in a traditional sense. A person has to understand where they're going with it and be able to feel it for themselves...and get lost in the words. I appreciate the innovative nature of this music.
@travisxgreggxajax1 That's a very good analysis of this song. He isn't singing per se, because the lyrics are full of intensity and the blunt, honest truth. If he just sang it, it wouldn't have the tender, yet cutting and brutal edge that it does. It's comforting, yet it's haunting. The guitar riffs are a damn near perfect compliment, and the pacing is beautiful. It doesn't get overly hammy, but it doesn't get too dark either. It's the perfect medium, and shows the pain of a weathered man.
@chosentonessournotes Thanks man. I appreciate it. I was in a band called Adam Aorta for awhile. I'm trying to get them back together now. The front man, Andrew Doss, was really depressed when he wrote all of the music. Now he isn't, and he has had trouble writing new material because of it. It's interesting how creative minds work...and how certain conditions have to be present in order for the material to be expressed.
@travisxgreggxajax1 Yeah, different emotions do different things for people. Me personally, I find my creative juices flow a lot more freely when I'm feeling love or feeling loved. Depression just throws me off. I tend to be a lot more spiteful and unfair when I'm feeling heartbroken. Angry? I talk about the bloodlust of the human condition and how mankind will end themselves. Being an acoustic artist, some of these aren't bad. But the anger... I'm not in a hardcore/black metal band.
@chosentonessournotes You would definitely get along with the people I play with. I'm more accustomed to playing really heavy metalcore music and incorporating breakdowns and other elements into the mix, while the other guys are more into the mello sounds. It all seems to equal out into something nice and balanced though. We're finally having a band practice next week after 3 months! I'm stoked man...
@travisxgreggxajax1 Hahaha, I USED to be in plenty of metalcore bands. Since I was 15 or 16. I'm 24 now. I just lost my love for playing that kind of music. It was fun for a long time, just not anymore. I'm more into the acoustic/indie/folk stuff right now; Circa Survive, City & Colour, Good Old War, Simon And Garfunkel, Ben Folds... Stuff like that.
@chosentonessournotes Well I'm sorry the relationship didn't work man. My girlfriend just recently warmed up to me being in a band...and we've been together for a year since yesterday. lol. Her grandpa is an old blues guy, and I got to jam with him earlier today. It was awsome. I still like my hard rock, but my taste is more versatile now than it once was. I prefer all of the underground bands people never hear on the radio though:)
Silencer, "I have another plan..." Self inflicted death over the breakup of a relationship. Yeah, definitely been there. Youth and intensity will cause these states, which can be very serious indeed. Compare with "Bullet to Binary", for instance, and the later reprise of that song "bullet to binary pt 2". It's like the first time that you fall in love for real, and you see now that it's serious business, you're not messing around. People can get hurt so, so badly.

Agreed, in a sense.
I don't know if it's genius though, more just heartfelt.
Whether it's a true story being converted to song or a fictional narrator, it is very in depth.
