Look to me like more than 40 thousand dollar worth of cleanup and repair all around the house,you have to replace the fridge,the flooring,the lightings,the toilet,the sink and all that kind of sht,call in for some estimates.Call in the plumbers,the removal team and the fumigation team.Take me into the yard and the garage and around the side of the house.I want to see what the rest of the property look like.You might need the gardners,landscapers and painters as well..

OH this is SO GROSS! My neighbor was evicted after both my upstairs neighbor and I complained about him. He was stashing his trash under the porch because he was too lazy to pay for it to be taken out. He also smoked so much that it was permeating my apartment. He was on the fast track to leaving the apartment looking like yours did! Luckily he left quickly!
This is rediculous! Landlord's need to check on their property! At least every 3 months you should go in and check it out. You have rights as a lanlord....all you have to do is is giive 24 hour notice! Why let it get to this point? If I saw this I would have their asses evicted and sued them for all the damages they caused. Some people are pigs and have no respect for another persons property! Credit checks alone don't do it. Landlord's keep an eye on your property!

I rented to a college graduate in 2008 who left my property almost that nasty( minus the poo,various dildos, and maggots). Needless to say, I had the floor completely tiled. Her carpet almost made the tile guys barf. She said she didn't clean because the contract includes a cleaning fee deducted from the deposit IF the property is not returned in a clean condition. She assumed she did't need to clean anything for a whole year. Even more surprising, she had a boyfriend who she then moved with!
There's no way you can amass that much filth prior to an eviction. These people live DIRTY, and always will (probably druggies). I remember doing landscaping as a kid to make some cash, and this guy took his family on vacation. He paid me to watch over his place, and clean up the house if necessary. It was FOUL.
How can one live like this? Even our paleolithic brethren had the decency to walk out of the cave or hut and take a dump. DISGUSTING!
I feel for the landlords. But even though they know they have dozens (hundreds?) of hours of work to make this place rentable again, they still are upbeat enough to joke with one another. You've got to love people that can take such a terrible situation and get laughter out of it.

I had a long rental on a house in France. The first tenants stole a lot of furniture and pretty fitted wall lights. Then they moved out without paying. There was a flood, I renovated. Next tenants then had dogs, when they left there was dog poo everywhere and the flied and rats. The house is on a river. These tenants removed all the electric radiators and replaced them with petrol heaters.They said the house was damp but it was caused by the heaters causing black damp round all the windows.
I had lower end properties in the late 80s and 1 in 8 would leave properties in similar or worse condition. Should be a 3 day turn around if there's not permanent staining, broken fixtures or immutable smells, if not, you're not doing it right.
By lunch the first day all garbage should be raked into large square wheeled cans, sellable items and rtned apt fixtures/furnishings removed. the latter half spent scraping and scrubbing. Day two finish scrub and sanitize. 3 paint and replace clean fixrs
The person that used to live there should be tracked down and made to clean up the indescribable mess. By the way who eventually had to clean it up and was the house rented out one it was cleaned? What you guys had to go through was disgusting. I think the house needs 100 bottles of meth spirits and bleach and maybe 1000 rubbish bags

I don't see how this could have happened. That looks like a long time mess, like it didn't happen over night. As a landlord, don't you at least come in every couple of months or so to change air filters? Surely, you would have seen something going on long before it got this bad. If you don't normally gain access to change air filters, maybe you should start. Oh, and my dad was an alcoholic. But he NEVER lived in a mess. His house was always spotless. Being an addict didn't make this happen.

For over 45 years my parents owned rental property. Houses, apartment complex, motel and hotel all during the same period. Several times we had to clean up filth beyond description. . . I thought I had seen every thing. . .until you're video! How can anyone live like that?
My daughter is renting her beautiful home, because she relocated to another city to work. I pray that her tenants take care of the property, so far every month the rent has been late, one more time of late rent, they will be evicted. Be careful who you rent to ,rental agents are full of crap. in th above vidieo the people who lived in that house were filthty pigs.
Saw a similar place at one time. The apt was on the second floor. Former tenants split in the middle of the night knowing they would NEVER get their security deposit back. The landlord had to replace the carpet, the plywood below the carpet and 2-3 feet of sheet rock at the bottom of all the walls because the "illegally kept cats" sprayed the floors and walls.
@serutan12 I had that and replaced all the carpet with tile and vinyl. Replaced the drywall but covered it with heavy urethane coated wainscoting. Threw down some inexpensive area rugs and things were good to go. Smell will stay, unless you want to replace studding, either seal with urethane or similar, douse with odor neutralizer. Also, seal edges of subfloor in affected area with a non-hardening sealer.
Are renters ever tried and convicted of vandalism and sent to prison? The damage done here is much more expensive to fix than gang graffiti on someone's back wall. It would probably be hard to collect money from the tenant for damages, as he was likely evicted in the first place because he couldn't/wouldn't pay rent, but a long prison sentence would certainly be a deterrent to others.
@ReligiousZombie : No, they usually are not. Its considered civil, not criminal. As long as they didn't rpi the toilets and sinks off of the wall, and such, its not considered vandalism.
yeah this was the apartment of meth or crack heads..I used to own a cleaning business and while not most people even get close to living like this, I've been in a place very similar my advice to the property owners was to burn it down and claim the insurance..
This is what happens when you don't screen your tenants. References, criminal record checks and verifiable employment will reduce the chances you will get bad tenants.
Fn laywers should do something usefull and make tenants like this indentured servants to the landlords until that is cleaned up, also forget waiting for evictions a 9mm should be able to do that quicker then no mess other then tenants blood stain

I rented to a college graduate in 2008 who left my property almost that nasty( minus the poo,various dildos, and maggots). Needless to say, I had the floor completely tiled. Her carpet almost made the tile guys barf. She said she didn't clean because the contract includes a cleaning fee deducted from the deposit IF the property is not returned in a clean condition. She assumed she did't need to clean anything for a whole year. Even more surprising, she had a boyfriend who she then moved with!

There's no way you can amass that much filth prior to an eviction. These people live DIRTY, and always will (probably druggies). I remember doing landscaping as a kid to make some cash, and this guy took his family on vacation. He paid me to watch over his place, and clean up the house if necessary. It was FOUL.
How can one live like this? Even our paleolithic brethren had the decency to walk out of the cave or hut and take a dump. DISGUSTING!

I feel for the landlords. But even though they know they have dozens (hundreds?) of hours of work to make this place rentable again, they still are upbeat enough to joke with one another. You've got to love people that can take such a terrible situation and get laughter out of it.

I had a long rental on a house in France. The first tenants stole a lot of furniture and pretty fitted wall lights. Then they moved out without paying. There was a flood, I renovated. Next tenants then had dogs, when they left there was dog poo everywhere and the flied and rats. The house is on a river. These tenants removed all the electric radiators and replaced them with petrol heaters.They said the house was damp but it was caused by the heaters causing black damp round all the windows.

I had lower end properties in the late 80s and 1 in 8 would leave properties in similar or worse condition. Should be a 3 day turn around if there's not permanent staining, broken fixtures or immutable smells, if not, you're not doing it right.
By lunch the first day all garbage should be raked into large square wheeled cans, sellable items and rtned apt fixtures/furnishings removed. the latter half spent scraping and scrubbing. Day two finish scrub and sanitize. 3 paint and replace clean fixrs

I don't see how this could have happened. That looks like a long time mess, like it didn't happen over night. As a landlord, don't you at least come in every couple of months or so to change air filters? Surely, you would have seen something going on long before it got this bad. If you don't normally gain access to change air filters, maybe you should start. Oh, and my dad was an alcoholic. But he NEVER lived in a mess. His house was always spotless. Being an addict didn't make this happen.

Was this an eviction? How well did you screen these so called "people". Been a landlord for 7 years and haven't had to deal with that. Cross my fingers. Give us an update on what happened. I would love to know how long it took to clean this up and what you did to the extenants.

This is a text book example on why screening tenants extensively is beyond vital. One bad tenant in a rental is the financial equivalent of a nuclear bomb going off in your bank account.

For over 45 years my parents owned rental property. Houses, apartment complex, motel and hotel all during the same period. Several times we had to clean up filth beyond description. . . I thought I had seen every thing. . .until you're video! How can anyone live like that?

My daughter is renting her beautiful home, because she relocated to another city to work. I pray that her tenants take care of the property, so far every month the rent has been late, one more time of late rent, they will be evicted. Be careful who you rent to ,rental agents are full of crap. in th above vidieo the people who lived in that house were filthty pigs.

Saw a similar place at one time. The apt was on the second floor. Former tenants split in the middle of the night knowing they would NEVER get their security deposit back. The landlord had to replace the carpet, the plywood below the carpet and 2-3 feet of sheet rock at the bottom of all the walls because the "illegally kept cats" sprayed the floors and walls.
Still smelled like cat piss.

@serutan12 I had that and replaced all the carpet with tile and vinyl. Replaced the drywall but covered it with heavy urethane coated wainscoting. Threw down some inexpensive area rugs and things were good to go. Smell will stay, unless you want to replace studding, either seal with urethane or similar, douse with odor neutralizer. Also, seal edges of subfloor in affected area with a non-hardening sealer.

Are renters ever tried and convicted of vandalism and sent to prison? The damage done here is much more expensive to fix than gang graffiti on someone's back wall. It would probably be hard to collect money from the tenant for damages, as he was likely evicted in the first place because he couldn't/wouldn't pay rent, but a long prison sentence would certainly be a deterrent to others.

yeah this was the apartment of meth or crack heads..I used to own a cleaning business and while not most people even get close to living like this, I've been in a place very similar my advice to the property owners was to burn it down and claim the insurance..
