this is hip hop telling how relationships work in the hood. schoolin the world about how it works in the hood. thats hip hop 4 yo ass. hip hop 4ever. satanist sellouts can never fuck with this. theres a story and a message for the people and thats what hip hop is about THE PEOPLE.
This is the best of Philly HipHop, anyone who knows about 80's Rap, Philly was on the map. we didnt do what New York did, we did our own shit. High top fades were called philly's by other cities. They followed us. My boy Pit Flow was a dancer for EST, I miss this shit.
Im from Philly and this is true hiphop when Philly was at its best. Steady B, EST, Philly had it's own swagger. We didnt do what NY did. We did our own thing. High Top fades, Dancing in the video's. The best ever.
man that's why i love youtube,i was a freshman in high school when this junt came out,& i hadn't heard this song or saw this video since about 91". soon as it began to play i still knew all the words,& it sounded as great as it did 22 years ago,& the memories damn thanks Youtube!!!!!
I too get quite emotional as to how poignant this song even is today.... the beat is classic, ryhmes are on point, yet saying something, mixed with real conversation between man and woman w/out disrespecting each other. Look how fly the ladies are without getting naked. yes dudes were allowed to dance back then- all in all just a classic song and video all time top 20 @ the least.... there is a way to creatively talk about Loius, gucci, etc. My heart bleeds for this time period
IF ANYBODY YOUNGER THAN U ,under 19--SAYS "THIS OLD SCHOOL HIP-HOP IS WACK/CORNY," DONT B 2 QUICK 2 FLY OFF THE HANDLE AND GET IN ATTACK MODE. especaily A FAMILY MEMBER ,SIT NOT SMACK THEM DOWN AND EXPLAIN 2 THEM ITS NOT ALWAYS WHAT U HEAR ITS WHAT" U" FEEL. LET THEM KNOW 2 SHOW RESPECT 2 THOSE THAT PAVED THE WAY , LL,PUBLIC ENEMY ,RUN DMC,JAMES BROWN,P-FUNK,ETC, TO NEVER DISMISS NOR DISRESPECT SOMETHING JUST BECAUSE ITS"b4 there time." JUST BECAUSE A SONG/MOVIE CAME OUT B4 THEM
look at that...if anyone had listened to EST...most of us would be well-off by now..."i refuse to abuse my savings and loans...so if you want some ends baby, best go get your own"
People said the same thing about this music as well. Every generation has their right to enjoy the type of music they want. Music evolves, things change, and the world moves forward. Luckily we have music like this on record to conjure of feelings of nostalgia. Just enjoy the music because I gurauntee you the previous generation could not stand it. They thought we were butchering their favorite songs. We had bullshit coming up during our time too.
@blacksultan85 You're missing the point.......If you look at your man as a ATM and blow money on bullshit maybe you need to find yourself by yourself and see if you're still ballin' with your own ends. He said he don't mind giving any woman money, but you can't buy love. People using you is not right, so they get left. Look how she did Cool C, and he gave her everything.
@intgerman1 Why would they need to take notes? I mean, I get what you're trying to say, but thats a stupid statement. You're telling millionaires that they need to take notes from a group that probably never even saw more than $100k, lol..
@smac3138 why do people always have to leave that same played out comment on every old-school rap video? I think if someone is here watching it, then they are aware of that fact.. Is it in case a lil' wayne find stumbles across this video and asks "what this?" then he reads your comment and says "oh, this is real hip hop, okay I didnt know", lol..
i hate that everyone feels like they need to pick sides. great hip hop is great hip hop. old school or new school. doesnt matter. there are a lot of dope mc's right now. you have to find it. just like you did when this song came out. much love to 3x Dope. Great song.
Agreed. I remember back in those days there were alot garbage MCs to, its just that the top ones were the ones most heard. The only difference is that nowadays the garbage MCs are being forced in our faced.
I simply love this song .. Reminds me of old, better times in my young life ... Thx for posting this ... btw I'm 20 and this was my soundtrack with 13/14

this is the true test of music - if it still relates, it's a classic. Guess what it's a classic - why? because we're STILL dealing with the same thing...
