  • this song was way ahead of its time...

  • I too get quite emotional as to how poignant this song even is today.... the beat is classic, ryhmes are on point, yet saying something, mixed with real conversation between man and woman w/out disrespecting each other. Look how fly the ladies are without getting naked. yes dudes were allowed to dance back then- all in all just a classic song and video all time top 20 @ the least.... there is a way to creatively talk about Loius, gucci, etc. My heart bleeds for this time period

  • Life seemed so simple back then!!!

  • Dayum he had that Gumby lookin' tight.

    LOL

  • Man, this makes.me cry it was so innocent....todays crap did a complete 180 degree turn....this IS hip hop...

  • IF ANYBODY YOUNGER THAN U ,under 19--SAYS "THIS OLD SCHOOL HIP-HOP IS WACK/CORNY," DONT B 2 QUICK 2 FLY OFF THE HANDLE AND GET IN ATTACK MODE. especaily A FAMILY MEMBER ,SIT NOT SMACK THEM DOWN AND EXPLAIN 2 THEM ITS NOT ALWAYS WHAT U HEAR ITS WHAT" U" FEEL. LET THEM KNOW 2 SHOW RESPECT 2 THOSE THAT PAVED THE WAY , LL,PUBLIC ENEMY ,RUN DMC,JAMES BROWN,P-FUNK,ETC, TO NEVER DISMISS NOR DISRESPECT SOMETHING JUST BECAUSE ITS"b4 there time." JUST BECAUSE A SONG/MOVIE CAME OUT B4 THEM

  • if I had to choose one hip-hop joint from the greatest era ever - this just might be the one

  • Nice 5.0 convertible in this video. Love those rims. Oh, also a great hip hop track from Philly.

  • look at that...if anyone had listened to EST...most of us would be well-off by now..."i refuse to abuse my savings and loans...so if you want some ends baby, best go get your own"

    ...wise damn words.

  • this takes me backkkkkkkkkkkk

  • Man, this was the song!!!! Music don't feel like this anymore!

    Definitely DOPE!!!

  • Here's a trivia question for anyone: In 1991, who was the group that also used this beat (or something VERY similar thereto) and what was the song?

  • @phillyspartanfan geto boys "quickie"

  • @teelicious75 Ding ding ding!

  • @phillyspartanfan Geto Boys

  • my G said, "they call me ES, the overlord of fresh" #realhiphop 3XDope indeed.

  • This was that STUFF.

  • People said the same thing about this music as well. Every generation has their right to enjoy the type of music they want. Music evolves, things change, and the world moves forward. Luckily we have music like this on record to conjure of feelings of nostalgia. Just enjoy the music because I gurauntee you the previous generation could not stand it. They thought we were butchering their favorite songs. We had bullshit coming up during our time too.

  • Shit is dope! But don't go dissin new artists. Em, Wayne, etc.. These dudes are goin hard. BTW WHAT'S GOOD PHILLY ? I LOVE YOU FAM !

  • Damn this was my joint back in the day. Philly stand up!!

  • 2s about to kill ya all you need is 1.classic

  • @blacksultan85 You're missing the point.......If you look at your man as a ATM and blow money on bullshit maybe you need to find yourself by yourself and see if you're still ballin' with your own ends. He said he don't mind giving any woman money, but you can't buy love. People using you is not right, so they get left. Look how she did Cool C, and he gave her everything.

  • If you want some ends baby bets go get your own.

  • I was ten years old when this joint was out. Just a snot nose kid in Detroit... Brings back memories for me. Straight dope :)

  • @mjbdetroit Hell yea nothing like a Detroit summer in the 80's for real

  • I don't blame Michelle for any of this. EST was just a cheap ass bastard..

  • Ha Ha Ha. I Love The Ha Sounds On This.

  • There is nothing like old school HIP HOP. Lil Wayne , Gucci Mane etc you'll need to take notes

  • @intgerman1 Why would they need to take notes? I mean, I get what you're trying to say, but thats a stupid statement. You're telling millionaires that they need to take notes from a group that probably never even saw more than $100k, lol..

  • It was cool that they used a Flip Wilson line "That's the 3rd dress THIS WEEK!!"

  • @YellaDevil1 why is that cool?

  • you new young punks dont appreciate this type of hip- hop

  • THE WORLD IS VERY DIFFERENT NOW

  • This is real hip hop not that peanut butter and jelly crap !!!

  • @smac3138 why do people always have to leave that same played out comment on every old-school rap video? I think if someone is here watching it, then they are aware of that fact.. Is it in case a lil' wayne find stumbles across this video and asks "what this?" then he reads your comment and says "oh, this is real hip hop, okay I didnt know", lol..

  • @smac3138 i miss hiphop...im from the bronx and this wuz when hiphop wuz hiphop...fuck the illuminati

  • I still bang this today... Damn Michelle was a tramp ... Lmao

  • @Cyrious she wasnt a tramp, she was just a gold digger.. She never slept around.. EST was just a cheap ass bastard..

  • i hate that everyone feels like they need to pick sides. great hip hop is great hip hop. old school or new school. doesnt matter. there are a lot of dope mc's right now. you have to find it. just like you did when this song came out. much love to 3x Dope. Great song.

  • @yaboymenace

Agreed. I remember back in those days there were alot garbage MCs to, its just that the top ones were the ones most heard. The only difference is that nowadays the garbage MCs are being forced in our faced.

  • @jedimind24 your dad must have listened to this

  • Back in 89 i had the cassette single of this and would play it for hours thanks to a auto reverse cassette deck. :D

  • @Ui2019 me too...

  • Hip Hop is Black Music/Culture. Non Blacks try to call it "Universal Music" cause they wanna be down with what we've created.

  • "the world is very different now"....how true is that?

  • @RonMexico414 VERY TRUE!!!!!

  • this is the true test of music - if it still relates, it's a classic. Guess what it's a classic - why? because we're STILL dealing with the same thing...

"she got you for your dividends."

  • I love the sample. It came from "Oh Honey" by Delegation.

  • @hondaciviccoupe10 I didn't know this..thanks for the info..have to add it to my knowledge base of smaples

  • @DutchXIII I generally agree with your comment but don't agree that Eminem should be among your targets. His abilities are well-respected throughout the hip-hop community and with good reason.
