Day Of The Dead is Romero's masterpiece, Tom Savini topped his effects in the epic Dawn Of The Dead and the horror comic anthology Creepshow, it's too bad the studio Laurel Entertainment wouldn't provide the 7 million dollar budget Romero's original Day draft required, it would have been the ultimate end of the world zombie gorefest fan's were expecting

Either way, Romero has a true sense of classic horror, and I'm glad he doesn't explain how the zombies were born without making an ass of himself. I hear he's got another one coming up soon, but I don't think it's been comfirmed ^^

The water table in Florida is about 3 or 4' down. Go to any house, especially in southern FL and see if anyone has a basement. You can, unless you build an above ground basement, you know a couple thousand sq ft of dirty above ground and put a basement in that. So how the hell do they have a below ground complex?

@sinusbradycardia Just because you have a higher water table doesn't mean you can't have an underground structure. It just means it's gonna be uneconomical for the avg person. Texas has a high water table as well, but they dug 210ft deep tunnels for the Super Conducting Super Collider in Texas. They kept it dry with pumps but since they pretty much abandoned it it's full of water now.

George Romero's Day Of The Dead is a horror gore classic of the 80's, it's a shame Romero couldn't make the movie he planned on filming: about a rag tag group of survivors of the worldwide zombie plague who make it to a caribbean island with the last living humans ruled by an insane tyrant with an army of trained soldier zombies. The original script had more action set-pieces, more characters, and lots,lots more extreme gore and bloodletting than in the move that ended up being made.
