a big reason is becuz of there religious opinion wich is deep rooted in islamic history,an incredibly deep subject that has to do with the succession to the prophet,another reason is the shiia rising power in the climate,for almost a millenia t sunnis have ruled the islamic world,especially iraq,now it almost seems as if the shia do,so its kinda like the underdogs are rising up
