Watched their road test on the 2012 Civic and compared it to this. Prime rivals of the current age of compacts, and it seems like they favored the civic more in their tone of voice, but looked down on the Elantra even though it seems better. Least they kept it as unbiased sounding as possible. Either way both are nice cars, been debating about both for months and went with the Elantra.
This car has overall decreased in engine size, backseat room, ride quality, and performance. My 2007 is boring but at lease it has a spare tire and a 2.0 engine, room and is quiet over the road.
@heroheroic Hyundai also has to prove much in the realm of long-term reliability! Some consider the 10yr/100k mi warranty is a selling point...however people don't buy Honda and Toyota expecting for powertrain problems! Let's see a 2012 Elantra and Civic with 120k+ mi in 7+ years and see which has been more reliable...Hyundai and Ford have no doubt improved (at least style-wise), but they need to prove long-term reliability before I'm convinced!
Good job Hyundai looking much better these days all around. Better than those gas hog American cars and better quality then them. Keep up the good work Foreign car makers you'll always be on top in my book.
@yynotnnh *Read comment before* This is the end i've finally grown tired of your ignorance, watch you'll message me back and i won't even give it a look and just delete it. This is how you truly end talking on youtube by not commenting back. HAHAHA U MAD BRO!
@yynotnnh coming back for more huh, see this is what i mean, you don't want to talk yet you still comment back, then when you get called out as being a whimp you get all butthurt then in the very next comment section you go "i'll report you to youtube" proving that you're being scared and a whimp. Sorry Fanboy but you're in denial and you're wrong about the Cruze and Fusion about the mpg, just go back to your little cave and all will be well. You must not have learned anything in those 15 years
@yynotnnh Go ahead and report, nothing's going to happen, look who is stalking who looking at my profile i haven't once went to yours period. Fanboy for days and days and still proving how ignorant you are There's a Delete button in the inbox all you have to do is one click haha. I can defend any car i want doesn't matter what car it is. Man you know nothing about cars period, how about you stop writing back, cut the crap and i won't need to address you any more.
@yynotnnh then stop writing back, that's why you keep deleting your comment because you don't have anything to back up what you said. Man such a useless Fanboy, nothing more than a little wimp.
@yynotnnh you know i still get message right? i'm on the video because i like motorweek and watch every video, I'm not being a Fanboy you are i stated simple facts and you can't grasp the fact that its truth because you're too delusional to realize it. Just like a fanboy once cornered they go on and say something that is irrelevant to the point. Go on and cry your bs is useless here.
@yynotnnh And again You are just being a Fanboy and spewing ignorance it is not a fact using a sweeping statement proves this by far. Ford Fusion and Chevy Cruze have been proving to get the fuel economy they said. Go do some actual research before spouting BS.
Almost everything he said in this review is true. For a car in the compact sedan segment, this new design of the Elantra is very upscale and roomy-did you know that it has more interior space than a Nissan Maxima? When you step on the throttle the engine noise is very smooth though somewhat noisy but once you get up to cruising speed it's very quiet. This makes the road noise that much more noticeable. It's still the best value in the segment and the '11 YTD sales are proving that.
@lrossi888 thats really funny, cause my friend spent 35k on bmw, and its been nothing but a headache since the moment he bought it. so yeah its not always true. and my fathers 20 toyota lasted him 13 years before he sold it..you dont get what you pay for with cars, they are status symbols and depreciate like no other product. most of the time its better value to buy cheap..
Hyundai's have really made leaps and bounds with their new models...they are definetly going to eat into Honda and Toyota...I just cannot believe myself saying that I am disappointed I am unable to buy a hyundai as I got an Accord just a couple of yrs ago :-(..I am really itching to trade it in now
And only 10 years ago Hyundai was considered absolute bottom of the pack.

@danjoe79 As a suggestion, you can check out the way you drive. Maybe with some better techniques, you can get higher mileage!

@heroheroic the new engine makes the same power and has better fuel economy. Technology makes up for the size.

I agree it is still an econobox with lines. Hyundai's ride quality is nowhere near the quality of Honda or Toyota. Still needs lots of work.
