  • this song is ALOT easier to play in shephens grip...i played it in 8th grade and it was alot easier to use that grip

  • very nice and flowing i like wht ur doing with ur arms and very nce playing area

  • very cool dude.

  • haha i hate those mallets

  • @poptartman27 Hey me too !! I bought them on an online store a fews months ago and I got refund the day I got them!! The head of the mallet couldn't stay on the stick !! The glue wasn't good enough or whatever !! And those little sticks aren't cheap !!

  • You're an idiot....

  • hey he's playing that wrong

  • For anyone who's wondering, this is the 3rd movement from "Trilogy" for Solo Vibraphone, by Tim Huesgen, entitled "With A Mazy Motion".

  • Folks,

What greatr coments. I am not a musician. I have just enough talent to play the stereo. But what an insight I get watching theses things when there is such positive feedback to the poster. I learn a bit about mallet hardness and grips, and insturments. Thank you all and especially you, Krayze, that was a tasty piece. And youtube great (at least when they don't yank positngs for copywrite stuff)!

  • personally, i think your mallets are to hard for this piece, mike balter reds are maybe more of a better choice. Maybe more time and care could be taken over it, nd it may sound better slowed down.

  • those were fine. their musser good vibes i think their plenty soft.

  • I really like the mallet choice

  • musser good-vibes

  • @Vincepp why?

  • The first part (in G minor) can be interpreted in more ways that the second part (in C major).may be a child at bedtime that is afraid and needs his mother, or as I said before, someone confused. Really good song

  • the next stage for me, is a dream or an adventure that this character lives. The first part is repeated twice, it's like a dream or something. then comes a part where you must traverse OBSTACLES or problems. and then they have reverted back to a confusion or uncertainty. The song ends with a major chord.

  • Hi, I'm chilean and my English is not good.

I liked this song because the emotions are contained within the same context. maybe if you make an arrangement with more instruments would be very exciting. the beginning (the question) I can be a way to uncertainty, or confusion between two paths, as follows (the response) is the answer to that (it's like: you have to go there), and then comes a joy for having found the answer (is that good, to achieve this, I felt when I knew so well)

  • haha wow for something that's supposed to be incomplete and shitty that sounded pretty damn good.

  • why buton grip???

  • Vibes and Xylo = Burton. Burton is better for dampening on Vibes, and the keys aren't so far apart as Marimba for stevens.

  • not necessarily, there is no real difference. There are advantages to playing Steven's on vibes as well. The cavaliers for instance use Steven's on Xylo.

  • @KrayzeKriZ use whatever grip you use best for anything lol. burton grip is more of a jazzy thing lol

  • its so beautifull ! the sound,..all!

    i want a vibraphoneeeeeeee!!! =(

  • man that's from trilogy

the first movement (a vision in a dream) and this one are so freaking great

  • sounds good. you don't have to call yourself "awful" the music speaks for itself. Nice phrasing.

  • ooh, id love to play that piece. whats the song called? is it actually mazy motion?

  • "With a Mazy Motion"

  • it's actually the 3rd movement of a piece called trilogy. i like movement 1 too...it sounds amazing

  • Is it? Hmm.

I'll have to look up the other movements.

Thanks for that bit of info!

  • @KrayzeKriZ I'm working on the Trilogy right now. The first piece is called "A Vision in a Dream". Could you PLEASE learn that? It's so pretty and I love your playing. haha. Even when your'e just messing around.

  • Love it! Although there was a moment when i felt i needed to hear a different key, thats great music to listen to the notes that aren't being played. I tink this guys bein quite modest.

  • very great melody!

i wonder what the structures underneath the bars used for? they move up a little frequently

  • It's a Vibraphone.

The mechanism under the keys is a "pedal". It's like a piano. The felt under the keys stops the vibration so the keys stop resonating.

  • great job i also play the vibes but im in high school and i hope to be playing on a marimba next year and kick off this junior i dont like lol

  • this song is amazing

i played it at solo and ensemble last year

  • wuz it called? is it actually called mazy motion?

  • lol

  • if you google a bit, you will find the full version on vibraphone or other examples on piano

  • Yes, it's three octaves.... but what?

  • Hi there,

I recognize it, I played it about 10 years ago when I graduated in music school. What you played is the 3rd part of 'A vision in a dream'. :) This is indeed called 'With a mazy motion'. The second part was called 'A fragment'. The song was composed by Tim Huesgen.

    nice to hear it again...

  • Ah! That's cool. I didn't know that :)

  • vibraphone is a nice sounding instrument. I wonder why its not as popular as other instruments.

  • God this sounds great. I want to play vibe.

  • how3 many octivs is ur vib??

  • looks like 2 octaves

  • i'd say thats about right.

  • one note short of being 3 octaves, heh.

  • maby one note is missimg...

  • It's perfectly 3 octaves. Some people can't count, lol.

  • You might think it was crummy, but I thought it was really a pretty sounding solo. I love the sounds of the vibraphone.

You appear to be really very talented, I watched one of your marimba videos as well.

  • nice playing

  • ALAS!! Trilogy for vibraphone by tim huesgen

  • interesting interpretation lol! Im using that piece for college auditions, it's called 'with a mazy motion' from trilogy! U took the middle bit too fast and could have held the pauses longer but was pretty gd for someone who cant remember it properly! Liked the new ending lol!

  • It isn't all wrist in fact. I'm not music teacher, but I think the wrist should do the bigger part of the movement and the arm is involved in order to have a more ample and relaxed movement. You can't play vibes without using your arms at all.

Remember the most importent thing when playing an instrument : feeling at ease, and producing the best sound you can.

    It's all about music, really.

    (Very good job anyway ^^)

  • shit ur good. i belive that you can remeber that. damn. wat mallets u using.

  • You gotta be open to more things. There's more than one way to play.

Using all wrist is what gave me tendonitis in High School.

So you might wanna take that into consideration.

  • that was really good

  • sounds good, man

  • that's awesome! i'm gonna play vibraphone next year, i played marimba this year for marching band. i play flute too.

  • do you have a snare in the background?

i think i hear its chain rattaling against the bottom head

  • I play vibes too, but never that good

  • I love it! Awesome technique, I play vibes as well, and you've definitely got mad skills ^ ^

  • Pretty....Still, you should do more on flute.

  • What's up, kriz? Xylophones are cool. Oh, a vibraphone. Wow, that sounds like something from a video game. Still, it was very awesome. 5 STARS!!!!
