  • brilliant

  • μεγάλος τζαζίστας!

  • Shows Bill has a great ear and compliments the band wonderfully. Love his hamonics, he knows them well. It's nice to see somebody who can listen and compliment rather than be the show off flash player! I hear he even likes the MIM Teles alot. I am not the biggest Jazz person but this is refeshing.

  • So, so cool. The horn section gets props particuarly for NOT sounding like a blasting horn section. The harmonies and textures are amazing.

    Thanks for posting!

  • Very nice interplay among the musicians.I really enjoy Tony Scherrs Upright Bass lines. Thanks!

  • I'm not the most familiar with jazz or the works of mr frisell for i am infact mainly a fan of alternative music but i must say i was nicely surprised to find bills work remaniscent of alot of alternative music and post rock... its nice to hear another aspect of those sounds especially from someone so well versed... :) good vid

  • @crantonphos Listen to Naked City's 'Radio' if you want an easy starter!

  • Fantastic B. Frisell & group. Thank you.

  • "1968" is a clue. What was Miles Davis doing in '68?

  • Well, this does sound a bit like In A Silent Way...

  • ...and would it be the inspiration for this number? I think so, this is just great!

  • @iwanttowatchsomethin Nefertiti was released in '68 and you can hear a lot of that in this song. More importantly though I think Frisell is trying to capture the spirit of the era - student movements and social uprisings around the world, the DNC in Chicago, the heyday of the counterculture. '68 was a pretty hip year.

  • bill frisell ou l'art du relachement. Comme cette musique respîre, aère.

  • oui, t'as bien raison mon ami, c'est la musique sans vouloir jouer la musique. C'est la musique qui joue toute seule...

  • his melodies here are angular and minimal.. but continually morphing along the way with deft twang jazz.. don't underestimate the guy and you'll open yourself up to his truly intriguing world of music

  • You're missing the subtle contours of the melody, soaring above the ethereal backdrop of Frisell's guitar.

Listen to the melody as a jazz listener, and you hear a beautiful melody that could be to a standard, given the proper accompaniment and chords beneath. Instead Frisell flips it on its head, and employs a groove background for his melody.

  • Heard bill this morning on KCRW (amazing station) while I was driving to work. I think I was hypnotized. Good stuff.

  • Lovely. Gorgeus.

  • from bf's best album in ten years. every track a delight

  • "Another one bites the dust! Another one bites the dust! hehe ...Another one bites the dust! yeah e eee e eeeeee ee eeeeeee ah!"

  • Haha! so true

  • On what album can I find this constellation and this song?

  • the 2004 Nonesuch release 'Unspeakable'

  • Thanks, I might check it out.

  • pLEASE SO TERRIFIC, GREAT

  • This is great music! Ron Mies is the man!

  • Glad Bill is getting away from the Americana bag he was in for too long. Now if he could just remember that it's OK for a song to have some changes . . .

  • Bill has virtually no boundaries--if you're so disappointed with his genius, why don't we hear some of your shimmering licks; show us all how it should be done...please...we're waiting...

  • great drums from Kenny on this one!

  • too smooth for me

give me some rough guitar like Billy Jenkins!

  • That would be Tony Scherr.

  • what a dude the bassist

  • This is the sound i like that Bill plays... some of the other stuff is kinda country .......not for me but this is!
