Having a child at 17 must be really difficult, but it can turn out well in the end. My mum was 17 and my dad 20 when I was born (condom broke/ abortions not allowed then). They got married and were together for 25 years. They have been great parents for me and I've always felt they love me so much. They call me "their most wonderful mistake". Now as an adult, I have a amazing relatioship with my mother, she isn't just my mother she's my best friend too.

Rikki is too young to have a child. This is RIDICULOUS! Women are not brood sows. They had sex, accidentally got pregnant and she should terminate the pregnancy right now and get on with her life. What is it with men acting like we're living in the dark ages. Rikki was adult enough to have sex, she's adult enough to make the right decision on her own. Having a child at 16 makes no sense in any context. It's not about Rik's life with his kid, this is not he decision. I hate when soaps do this!

Time on soaps is a funny thing, because it's definitely not 25 weeks ago that they had sex for the first time. Oh, and Rikki is 17 (they mentioned that at Nina's bachelorette party). But that's still very young to have a child. I think the only options right now are having this child or giving the baby up for adoption.

@GTSTfanMark I know some women say that. But as a woman, I just don't believe it sugar. Women's bodies just don't work that way. You'd have to be completely uneducated about menstruation, ovulation, and the regular workings of your body not to notice that you are pregnant. I'll grant there are loads of women who say they didn't know but it just isn't possible.
Any woman who has been pregnant will tell you that just getting "bigger" and not having a period are not the only signs of pregnancy
@PlatypusRising55 Women experience pregnancy and childbirth differently. Some women have lots of symptoms, some don't. I have two friends, one who beyond her missed period and increasing waistline had none of the symptoms, aches, bladder issues, tiredness etc etc etc associated with pregnancy, right up until she gave birth. The other describes her unmedicated labour and delivery as not much worse than period pains. Neither woman is typical, neither was lying. That's just how their bodies work.
@PlatypusRising55 It's possible and it's called "Denial of pregnancy". You can google it for explanations. It's very rare though. It can happen that a woman who is several moths pregnant has no symptoms (no baby belly, still periods...), because as her mind hasn't understand that she is pregnant her body doesn't show it either. There are many variables we must take into consideration. The persons culture. religion. personal views, etc. And no, it is not just the religious folk whom may have an issue with abortion.
I know of girls who are not religious atheists and culturally wise pretty liberal yet they would not have abortions because they feel that they could not bring themselves to do it. I myself know people that got pregnet at a very young age. Some had abortions others didn't. It isn't a matter of century but the girls own decision. And yes Rikki wanted an abortion, but seeing as they made it that she's 25 weeks she can't. And I'm guessing the writers wanted a longer storyline with her=pregnancy

@7Amthyste7 Lieke van Lexmond (Charlie) is one of the few actors who has a permanent contract so she doesn't have to leave for three months. Her exit is permanent (although she did say she wants to come back for visits in the future).

yeah sjoerd is acting like an ass but he will be terrified, he should be with rikki i know that when i was pregnant it was really scary we were both young and it took time to come round but we got there in the end now i would not be without my 6yr old

I am just wondering how the writers are going to mess up Lucas, I know he will be back at the end of September but curious if he will have to learn to walk on his eye lashes or what. Very sweet of Anton to take the time to talk about Lucas and encourage Edwin to stay postive-just shows how far he's come. Sjoerd will come around-seems like he's scared and Rik is forcing him to make decisions he's not ready to make. He hasn't got alot of time left, but he hasn't had a chance to process all of this yet.
