What I love about watching AFL clips is seeing how many Rugby League guys are watching them too... Fact- biggest hits in AFL are big because the player doesn't see them coming so has not embraced for impact. Rugby League hits are bigger but the player is running at them. They are one dimensional and the player can protect himself for impact. The only thing league has going for it is hard hits... AFL hard hits are only one small part of the game.

afl is the tougest roughest and most tiring and physichally asking sport in the world. NFL is yes a tough sport but with their protection gear they use it makes it weak. I have played both NFL, Rugby and AFL and find AFL the toughest and best sport. I am australian but i lived in america for 2 years and played NFL while over there and came back and play AFL on a Sat and Rugby on a Sun and AFL is easily the most physichally asking sport and the tougest and roughest sport there is without a doubt.
@lukeshuey123 yeah but AFL isn't the sport it's the league that's like saying the English Premier League is the worst sport in the world when you mean soccer :P

@lukeshuey123 yeah i get what you mean but im from wa and all the people that i know that play footy including me call the sport footy or aussie rules haha
why are people saying AFL players would get smashed if they played rugby? the games are completely different: rugby players train their bodies to take those massive hits, as the sport composes of the player running at the opposition line. AFL players are agile as its not about getting hit its about avoiding a hit to move the ball forward. rugby players move the ball forward by attacking the opposition, AFL players move it forward by AVOIDING the opposition.
watching the world cup today and i dont know if thats league or union and i couldnt give 2 shits anyway but the game was absolutely shit boring slow and these hits that u rugby tosspots go on about were nonexistent
@KeARtLMoPAJFA : try some of those hits without the body armor of NFL... gues those "football" players in U.S don't last 10min on a rugby field... The only rougher sport is Australian football...
@69eightball69 well seems you dont know much about the nfl, or american football in general. those guys with all that "body armor" as you call it are still breaking bones, getting concussions, and getting knocked unconcious, and again thats WITH all that so called "body armor". you know there are american football teams/leagues in australia right? those kids are laying out some big hits. go try telling them that they are soft for wearing "body armor".
@MaddoBOY6109 its called football because they use their feet to get around, its played on foot, as apposed to on horseback. NFL is actually the most dangerous sport, and fun to watch if you get into it. Not as fun to watch as rugby or afl in my opinion. Btw Im American in case you cared.
@91gt306 When I went to the US with my brother we met some 'big name' NFL players. believe me they may be big but they are sooks. I went to the superbowl there and it is nothing compared to the grand final. The intensity is much greater than NFL. they break bones because they put themselves in that position. AFL players can quite easily break bones, as many have, but most are smart enough to not injure themselves bad;y. I'm not saying they're not tough, just not as tough as AFL.
omg stop fucking comparing. alot of sports are tough in different ways. im sure a rugby player playing footy would get smashed and a footy player playing rugby would get smashed.
@guitarplayer4556 Yes true, i like rugby league but been trying to get into the union world cup but it is such a stop start game and yes an afl player would prob be a heap of broken bones ha ha. hey but they are both great games to watch i enjoyed watching the nrl final but it was a pitty the storm wasn't playing cheers for the chat

@2smoothbra haha dude you are moron, tennis? both AFL and NRL are tough sports. you clearly for what ever reason just hate AFL... fuck off and get life bud
i'm a female and i dont think this is sexist at all ive grown up around AFL and it as a tough game with hard knocks and to distribute and handle the knocks u need relatively big guys that can handle it
@MyskokorwEpikz lol nice try with the justification, but there is no way this is true. let alone that these guys don't even wear helmets. americans just aren't that tough. sorry.
Its great to see people getting shirt fronted when they don't see it coming, but it makes you wonder how these guys can be mates off the field. Its an Aussie thing I suppose, never start a fight with someone who isn't your mate. After the confirmation of the term 'mates', its on. Gotta love the Aussie rules, we are all mates in the end.

@SMDavo hmmm let me think, AFL is basically just a lot of running, jumping, catching, punching and kicking the ball - little skill I must say.I'll give it to you that it requires a lot more aerobic fitness, but no I'm sorry you're wrong if you think it's 'rougher and tougher'. stop arguin ya numbskulls. go troll somewhere else. all codes of footy in australia are good. if you prefer one over the other, dont troll on thier vids
@Alsimo44 No it isn't, it's a cheap knock off of Rugby. Also, I box.. I doubt a tiny AFL player could do shit to me. Nice to know that you don't know the difference between Rugby and Rugby league, also nice to know that you don't know that AFL is based off things in Rugby. The shape of the ball, throw in, marks, the points goal = 6 behind = 1 try = 5 conversion = 2. There's also the ruck which are totally different, though you get the point.
@TheDoomPig Not all AFL players are tiny.. Barry Hall (103kg), Nic Natinui(101kg), Shane Mumford(102kg), Jonathan Brown(104kg). There are many more. Each one of those people would be benching close to 150kg.. Rugby Leauge is still Rugby even if it is a cheap knock off. Saying that Aussie rules is based on the Rugby (Not saying it isn't) is like saying Baseball is based on Cricket.. Similar but extremely different.
@TheDoomPig it isn't just rugby. and i wouldn't call it a "cheap knock off." AFL has elements from numerous sports. and look up Barry hall then eat your words about if any AFL player could do shit to you.
@natho155 I never said it was just Rugby. That makes AFL not very original if it needs to copy other sports, then its fans bag the sports that it was made from, I find that pathetic. I've seen the fights that Hall has been in. He can't fight, LOL.
@TheDoomPig You said "it's a cheap knock off of rugby." which would make most assume so. You didn't say "its a cheap knock off of other sports." or anything of the like.
@TheDoomPig I think if you were in Brent Staker's shoes when he got hit by Barry Hall you'd be out cold. However I can tell you would much rather be in Glenn Morrison's, Peter Jones' or Paul Bowman's shoes when Hopoate was behind them.
why do nrl fan always winge and bitch at afl players being "soft cocks"? do u play? or are u just siting there with ur beer gut...yelling chewed up bits of hot dog at people who work hard at what ever sport they play... and make more money than all of us combined! IF ANYONE IS SOFT.. ITS NRL FANS WITH NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN TROLL AFL VIDEOS..
Hey mate, hows it going? you like football manager games right? i found this cool one online footy-manager com its very similar to the football manager game. check it out. its pretty cool actually.
not critisising, but as a rugby player, all these "big hits" where all either pile ups in the air, or someone jumping in to a tackle backwards, or with an elbow?
I will be honest I didn't know much about the AFL because I live in the states. Luckily I live in Philadelphia and we got Sav Rocca as our punter I got interested in it. Then I saw some fucking pussy bitch take a cheap shot at him during his first game. And I felt sorry for him... not knowing what he was capable of. Now I feel bad for that ravens player that hit him and I would love to see even the smallest of guys in the AFL destroy one of the over-paid NFL bitches.
@Orangebike666 i saw that to and it was a cheapshot. even one of the commentators was pissed about it. guys like barry sanders, jerry rice had class and imo werent overpaid bitches . as far as an nfl guy getting destroyed sav rocca can hold his own hes actually one of the few punters that actually runs down field for the tackle after he punts, and hes retired from afl and still isnt afraid to hit. but at the end of the day they are different sports.
@goody5999 haha so tru. when i picked my host sister from japan up from th air port we took her to watch my little bro play, her first impression of australia.... bunch of 15 yo having a punch on
leave the bloke like this, it isn't sexist shut you mouths silly women, i bet he's a nice bloke and you're all just being little bitches on your rags, <--- that's sexist, abuse me.
@ihavetourettesxx Oh that was so funny I forgot to laugh. They do tackle in AFL but it just wasn't shown in this video. I bet you're one of those nerdy gamers that thinks a liking of metal music or some shit constitutes 'toughness'.
@MiKKA335 No, but if you like this i'm assuming your a dickhead, because that is exactly how you are acting. I didn't even know this sport existed and that was why i was asking what i did.
grim0033, you tell one guy on here you live in Lynwood in WA near some high school, you tell me you are at a university in Adelaide, stop telling lies. You send fake phone numbers, you troll the net as Grim0033 spruiking about next generation fighter jets, mate, you are a wanna be. Which is OK, most people are, however, they don't lie like you!!!!!
and to the females, you can play football, sometimes women show more passion for the game than the guys, but Kelli Underwood should not be allowed to commentate, she's to straightforward, no excitement, compare her with rex hunt and it's like the difference between a 97 ford laser and a bentley
To the people saying NRL is more popular, you probably can't count so i'll tell you in simple terms that the AFL has a larger fan and member base, simply because it is Australia's national sport, to those who say the rules and interpretation these days are bad, you are...correct, the games becoming less tough and rough, more athletic and protective so they introduce needless rules degrading the sport.
I don't see any big affrikaans and big maori boys playing. Bro, this game is fucking soft. You need to travel bro. If you travel, you will see that nobody overseas has any idea about your pathetic game and will laugh at you if you try to spruik about its toughness soft bro soft
@tongandennis So for a game to be hard it needs affrikaans and maori boys to play it? You make me laugh, your comments truely show a lack of brain capacity. Maybe that lack of IQ is also required to play these "hard" spots of yours eh? And for your information they are playing AFL in South Africa, its new but getting more popular.
@intelrudic2000 bro, AFL in south Africa is basically some AUSAID funded programes to feed hungry children on the provision that they sign up to ozkick, which is disgusting. The hope for these impoverished children is that maybe they can get a visa to Australia but if not, they get free meal by picking a sherrin. basically you have to bribe poor people to play AFL. I travel to south Africa 2 or 3 times a year, zero knowledge of AFL in South Africa my friend
@tongandennis so "AFL in south Africa is basically some AUSAID funded programes to feed hungry children on the provision that they sign up to ozkick, which is disgusting" but no one there knows about AFL? Fair enough there are minimal market saturation, but not "no body" as you say. They also play social AFL in USA and a few other countries. I concede that rugby has greater saturation, but doesn't make it a better sport, nor does it make rugby players "harder"
@tongandennis And i bet ALF is doing more for the children of south africa than you fucking 'affrikaans and maori boys', now you've just pissed me off - Do me a favor and go and play a game of 1st grade non-proffessional AFL, actually get involved and participate, THEN you can come off the ground and preach about how "Tough" you and your fucking 'affrikaan and maori boys' are, every post i read from you just increases your ignorance, incompentance and general lack of respect.
@tongandennis Also not to be insulting, but it is easier to teach someone basic rugby skills vs basic AFL skills. Running with a ball under your arm is easily taught compared to kicking a footy accurately. You can argue this, but AFL on the whole require better hand/foot/eye coordination and skill than rugby. Everyplayer is expected to handball/kick/mark/run/tackle/bump. On average an AFL player will also require more aerobic fitness as the games are longer, also require more warmup/cooldowns.
@tongandennis you can say all that shit about it being soft but if you have ever worn a proper rugby guernsey you would find that it has a thing called padding not as much as an nrl player but a hell of a lot more than the afl fellas are wearing. Say afl is soft but take off the padded guernsey and see how many are still standing
i dont blame ye australians for hating rugby league RUGBY UNION IS THE SPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@AcesHighManagement What has that got to do with anything? You also have to remember that AFL stole ALL of it's ideas off other sports -.-
TheDoomPig 9 months ago
@TheDoomPig Wow! Let's all hate AFL as it has origins that lie in different sports. What a redundant comment.

I'd love to see these guys get tackled by a Rugby player.
TheDoomPig 9 months ago
@TheDoomPig.... Pretty sure Karmichael Hunt is trying and failing at that. Nice one mate. Go sniff a few more arses.
peevack 9 months ago
@peevack I said Rugby, not "Rugby League". I'd also like to see you say that to a Rugby player, he'd break your face.
TheDoomPig 9 months ago
@TheDoomPig Rugby League is Rugby.. Also, a AFL player could probably break your face.
Alsimo44 9 months ago

Alsimo44 9 months ago
@TheDoomPig it isn't just rugby. and i wouldn't call it a "cheap knock off." AFL has elements from numerous sports. and look up Barry hall then eat your words about if any AFL player could do shit to you.
natho155 9 months ago
@natho155 I never said it was just Rugby. That makes AFL not very original if it needs to copy other sports, then its fans bag the sports that it was made from, I find that pathetic. I've seen the fights that Hall has been in. He can't fight, LOL.
TheDoomPig 9 months ago
@TheDoomPig You said "it's a cheap knock off of rugby." which would make most assume so. You didn't say "its a cheap knock off of other sports." or anything of the like.

@natho155 You assumed wrong.

@TheDoomPig I think if you were in Brent Staker's shoes when he got hit by Barry Hall you'd be out cold. However I can tell you would much rather be in Glenn Morrison's, Peter Jones' or Paul Bowman's shoes when Hopoate was behind them.

not critisising, but as a rugby player, all these "big hits" where all either pile ups in the air, or someone jumping in to a tackle backwards, or with an elbow?
there's no real technique at all,

I will be honest I didn't know much about the AFL because I live in the states. Luckily I live in Philadelphia and we got Sav Rocca as our punter I got interested in it. Then I saw some fucking pussy bitch take a cheap shot at him during his first game. And I felt sorry for him... not knowing what he was capable of. Now I feel bad for that ravens player that hit him and I would love to see even the smallest of guys in the AFL destroy one of the over-paid NFL bitches.
Orangebike666 1 year ago 5
@Orangebike666 i saw that to and it was a cheapshot. even one of the commentators was pissed about it. guys like barry sanders, jerry rice had class and imo werent overpaid bitches . as far as an nfl guy getting destroyed sav rocca can hold his own hes actually one of the few punters that actually runs down field for the tackle after he punts, and hes retired from afl and still isnt afraid to hit. but at the end of the day they are different sports.

and to the females, you can play football, sometimes women show more passion for the game than the guys, but Kelli Underwood should not be allowed to commentate, she's to straightforward, no excitement, compare her with rex hunt and it's like the difference between a 97 ford laser and a bentley
respontaneous 1 year ago
To the people saying NRL is more popular, you probably can't count so i'll tell you in simple terms that the AFL has a larger fan and member base, simply because it is Australia's national sport, to those who say the rules and interpretation these days are bad, you are...correct, the games becoming less tough and rough, more athletic and protective so they introduce needless rules degrading the sport.
respontaneous 1 year ago
I don't see any big affrikaans and big maori boys playing. Bro, this game is fucking soft. You need to travel bro. If you travel, you will see that nobody overseas has any idea about your pathetic game and will laugh at you if you try to spruik about its toughness soft bro soft
tongandennis 1 year ago
@tongandennis So for a game to be hard it needs affrikaans and maori boys to play it? You make me laugh, your comments truely show a lack of brain capacity. Maybe that lack of IQ is also required to play these "hard" spots of yours eh? And for your information they are playing AFL in South Africa, its new but getting more popular.
intelrudic2000 1 year ago
@intelrudic2000 bro, AFL in south Africa is basically some AUSAID funded programes to feed hungry children on the provision that they sign up to ozkick, which is disgusting. The hope for these impoverished children is that maybe they can get a visa to Australia but if not, they get free meal by picking a sherrin. basically you have to bribe poor people to play AFL. I travel to south Africa 2 or 3 times a year, zero knowledge of AFL in South Africa my friend
tongandennis 1 year ago
@tongandennis so "AFL in south Africa is basically some AUSAID funded programes to feed hungry children on the provision that they sign up to ozkick, which is disgusting" but no one there knows about AFL? Fair enough there are minimal market saturation, but not "no body" as you say. They also play social AFL in USA and a few other countries. I concede that rugby has greater saturation, but doesn't make it a better sport, nor does it make rugby players "harder"
intelrudic2000 1 year ago
@tongandennis And i bet ALF is doing more for the children of south africa than you fucking 'affrikaans and maori boys', now you've just pissed me off - Do me a favor and go and play a game of 1st grade non-proffessional AFL, actually get involved and participate, THEN you can come off the ground and preach about how "Tough" you and your fucking 'affrikaan and maori boys' are, every post i read from you just increases your ignorance, incompentance and general lack of respect.
AFLBestOnGround 1 year ago
@tongandennis Also not to be insulting, but it is easier to teach someone basic rugby skills vs basic AFL skills. Running with a ball under your arm is easily taught compared to kicking a footy accurately. You can argue this, but AFL on the whole require better hand/foot/eye coordination and skill than rugby. Everyplayer is expected to handball/kick/mark/run/tackle/bump. On average an AFL player will also require more aerobic fitness as the games are longer, also require more warmup/cooldowns.
intelrudic2000 1 year ago
@intelrudic2000 accurate kicking?? you guys get a point for missing
tongandennis 1 year ago
@tongandennis you can say all that shit about it being soft but if you have ever worn a proper rugby guernsey you would find that it has a thing called padding not as much as an nrl player but a hell of a lot more than the afl fellas are wearing. Say afl is soft but take off the padded guernsey and see how many are still standing
