  • running free is the best iron maiden song.

  • This is the song that got me through Boot Camp and more in my tenure in the Nav...

  • paul the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My punk band supported Elixir at Stratford Green Man in January 1985 - what a gig!

  • Thank you very much for sharing this video. I would say that if it want for Killers album i probably would not have enjoyed this band as much as i have over ther years. For me you just cant beat the intro to Killers regardless of how god a singer you are.. Paul Dianno nailed that big time, Ohhhhhhh lord.

  • Yesterday picked up Elixir "Treachery" 45 in their hand made sleeve at a charity shop in East London.... 50p ($1) No insert but who cares, what a find!

  • everyone seems to be talking about Paul

    what about elixir they're great!

they supported Overdrive in nov 08

    and they sounded fantastic!

  • I was lucky enough to play at the ruskin arms on its last night with a band called

    HAMMERHEAD

    cliveaid

  • Excellent, I wish I would have been there. His voice is brilliant.

  • Paul sounds good, when he doesnt do that horrible NU screaming crap.

  • what??maiden was never influenced by punk!! they refused to play punk!! shame paul was on the gear!!

  • What you nubians fail to realize is Di'Anno and Maiden started in '76 at the beginning of the Punk of movement. Granted Maiden was not Punk, but it certainly influenced their style and Paul Di'anno Certainly propelled Maiden into Fame. Dickinson just capitalized on it with a great voice, a perfectly timed 'Satanic' album NOTB, no discredit to Bruce, but a previous poster said that they were two different styles. Both Great though!

  • shithead haven't u read the biography at all ??? lett me retell the story for you ... Iron Maiden have NEVER been influenced by punk!!!!

  • hahaha that last guy doesn't know awesome when he hears it .

  • Wow. Are you a putz. For starters, that is at Clive Aid, for former Maiden drummer Clive Burr. Clive Aid was set up partially by Iron Maiden to help Clive with the high medical costs of his MS. So the logo is, rightly, using the Maiden lettering. Secondly, Maiden still do songs from the Di'Anno albums in concert. Do you want them to get on with their lives as well? Grow up. The man still sounds great, and to music fans that is all that matters.

  • That post was directed to Matttheriffmaster, BTW.

  • look, i've been into metal all my life, he does not sound good, he's lost his step drastically. It may seem i got on here to just bash him, but i honestly thought he would be better than this. And no, i don't find it wrong for Maiden to pllay those songs. Harris wrote them, they're his songs not Di'anno's.

I find it very honorable that he would do this for the entire MS cost, but i feel he could've done better. He looks like he hasn't been taking care of himself.

  • So true

  • You don't seem to realise that this is being sung at a concert called "Clive Aid", aimed to help Maiden's former drummer. So it perfectly appropriate that there is a "guest visit" (as was appropriately pointed out by the video owner) from Eddie and that the word "CLIVE" is styled afer the band's logo. It seems the only failure has been your complete miscomprehension of why this song was being sung. Fucker.

  • That is not an Eddie rip off it is Eddie. This was a benefit for Clive. Give the guy a break he's just playing rock and roll, man.

  • MAIDEN WAS MUCH BETTER W/PAUL DI'ANNO! "KILLERS" IS THEIR BEST ALBUM.I AGREE WITH alchmedespower,2 TOTALLY DIFFERENT STYLES.

  • I can't choose between Killers and the first one. They are both great albums!

  • ele sempre cantou mal assim... não sei porque tão falando tanto dele.agora ele vive das musicas do iron maiden.

  • I feel bad for the man, his voice sounds terrible. He appeared on some of the best metal albums ever and now he's a pathetic washup still capitalizing of the maiden years.

  • What are you talking about, his voice is still excellent. I saw Di'anno at a concert in Finland a few months ago and he made the whole show just awesome. He could sing melodic parts and then switch to whatever, including black metal growling. He has so much energy like a 15 y.o. kid I bet he drinks a whole box of Bulls before :)

Half of the songs he had in that concert were his new band's. Half of them sucked but the other half were awesome.

  • Paul Di'Anno could never hold out for 2 hour sets, and when we got Bruce it was never supposed to be any other vocalist but hell i think blaze is far better than Paul cuz paul screwed up Maiden knows it paul knows it and everyone knows it

  • Actually i have a bootleg recording of Iron Maiden in Japan just after Killers came out. They played every single song on both albums except for Pridigal Son. Also a guitar solo and drum solo, so that was a pretty fucking long set. Almost the longest possible for them at that time.

Whats your problem with Paul anyways. I think he made the band extremly original, and Bruce came in with somewhat generic vocals for the 80s.

  • When paul dianno quit in maiden they change style from a more heavy punk/metal style to a faster British metal style. When bruce sings songs from the first two albums it sounds bad, he aint gut the voice for those songs. And paul would prpbably not sing bruce songs. Paul is amazing for he's style and you can not compare paul whit bruce becuse maiden changed style. i like the first two albums best, and i also bought a ticket to a maiden consert one week ago :)

  • You are terribly right, they just have a different style, even if in overall Bruce is a better singer, he cant sing the first albums.

  • but look at it in another way when did Maiden get big ? it wasn't after their first album or Killers, still don't get me wrong but they didn't get where Steve wanted them to be look at the fans they got after espesially Piece Of Mind

Powerslave and seventh son moslty those albums are what maiden are today and what they was ment to be i agree with u though that the 1 album is great i don't think i don't listen to any song there but killers isn't good at all

  • how the mighty have fallen...

  • Blaze beyley? Lol... that sucker sings worse than me and that is baaad. I prefer Dickinson but DiAnno sounds great aswell!

  • Ok this is Paul D'ianno. He was amazing. ..A legend. Blaze bailey was nothing more than a douche bag faggot motherfucker and he suucked!! If it's not D'ianno, it's Dickinson or nothing. "Nuff said.

  • Yes he WAS,i say, WAS amazing.....once...

  • i met paul when i was a teen when he was with maiden and had the privalage of meeting again at the 2007 bash he is a graet guy and a great singer the crowed went crazy when paul sang this song paul still has what it takes and sounds great still to this day. paul you are the best. Chris

  • pathetic seriously... he couldve been one of the best metal singers ever.. just look at the way he looks now... awful.. probably still doin coke.. thats just sad..

  • paul dianno isnt the best singer in my oipion i think bruce is better but paul better for killers

  • He still sounds awesome.

  • Paul DiAnno owns our asses. Too bad he left Iron Maiden. They could have been special with him.

  • He loves hitting those lower notes though is the only problem and Bruce atleast HAD nice headbanger hair

  • nah, paul dianno was good, but dickinson is just, godly... although Blazer bailey, i mean wtf, talk about a trainwreck

  • i thought blaze bailey was superb in all respects but one. his voice is not an 'instrument.' bailey NEVER seemed to come in on cue or use the metre the words were written with. it's kind of inspiring, makes me feel like i could do it better.

  • met blaze once was one of the rudest arogant arseholes i have ever had the misfortune to meet

  • Way cool..How cool is this, a Tribute band that loves Dianno, and maiden, and they actually get a chance to play live onstage with him..fucking AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

  • This is the NWOBHM band Elixir, NOT a tribute band!

This is only the second cover they have ever played live, the first being a Thin Lizzy number back in 1988!

  • fuckin awesome

  • Oh God, he is singing one of his songs! HOW PATHETIC!

    GROW UP.

  • I wonder if Di'anno will ever just do his own thing completely, and just give up on the Maiden nostalgia. Yes he is a legend, but it's kind of pathetic seeing things like this.

  • Pathetic of him to turn up at a thing like this?to sing his very own popular song? in aid for people with MS? oh yes, VERY pathetic. You should think before you write !!!

  • The crowd sounds super drunk!

  • absolutely great. paul is a real beast!

  • Wooooooooooooooooooo!!! Go Di'Anno!!

  • Paul Maiden was possibly the most brilliant era, even this simple song seems amazing

  • my favourite maiden song.

  • Too awesome!! Love this!!
