  • Hey FatBoy Dan, what size hooks and what kind of hooks do you use (circle hooks, j hooks, etc) for both big cats and smaller cats? I know everyone has their own/preference but you obviously seem to know what you're about so I want to hear your choice on the subject

  • for the small bottle can you use it for sunfish

  • Wow yes this guy did just pull out a brick....but hey if it works it works!

  • this helped me so much.... thx a lot... make more stuff

  • hey im going to set a jug tonight and i need to know what a good bait is ether bream live or dead, frozen cut bait, or what need help!!!!!! thanks

  • @TheXcalber88 cut bait will do the trick, try shad guts if you can get some,if your gone t use worms go biger hook & 3 - 4 worms

  • wouldnt a brick make the jug sink just wondering

  • @alwaysoutdoors1998

no, u use a nuff line to reach bottom so the brick holds tight on bottom while your jug floats and A CATFISH GRABS IT & IS HOOK

  • what i do is i take an eye glass screw driver an heat it up with a lighter an poke a hole in the lid then i take my string an knot it an put a sinker on the inside of the lidthen on the outside i do the same so the string wont retract then i put a polomer knot in it an tie a treble hook. then i put a sinker on the bottom to weight it down

  • personally, a overhand loop knot works fine for the hook and sinker, just make the knot and slip the loop through the eye and slip the hook or weight through the loop, this way you never have to try to untie the knot to replace a dull hook or to change the weight, just reverse the process, simple.

  • can i use a treble

  • @LIFalcons99 yes you can use treble hooks or any hook

  • when we jug fish during the summer i purfer a full brick with a 12 ot circle hook with a bleach bottle

  • I approve of this video!

  • dude you r a beast!!!!!!:]

  • @23MiniMoose

    thanks

  • if you dont have a boat will the fish take the bottle out in middle of the lake

  • @ziyadiah215

Yes they can,So if you use it from bank tie a line to ur jug then toss it out, that way when a fish is on you can get your jug back in with the line

  • @ziyadiah215 they can, that's why you only do this with a boat. if you can only fish from the shore, try bank lines, simply a long line(twine works), a weight and a baited hook, you tie it to something strong like a small tree or tree roots, even a improvised pole buried in the bank a few inches works, you can add a buoy to the line like a small pop bottle for a warning device. I wouldn't leave bank lines out over night though, since you don't want a big fish to take off with it.

  • why do some people hate rednecks, rednecks are smart when it comes to things that can actually help you outdoors

  • i have a stupid question, should the line be long enough so that the weight touches the bottom like it would be if you were pole fishing or should the hook be just dangling in the water?

  • @Y0B0YCHRIS

you can let it hit the bottom or free float them as long as you got a boat to get them back in

  • does the weight float or does it rest on the bottom

  • I've watched your video's in the past, and want to say great job. I've recently become interested in the sport, I work with a couple good old boys who have jug fished for years, and was told those foam pool noodles work real well for jug fishing, whats your opinion on em or is there something better than that? Im as green as they come to this sport, so Im wanting to learn all that I can. Is there any tips you can give folks like myself so that we can look professional when out of the water?

  • Fatboy you are my hero

  • where do you buy sunshineand otherthing

  • my cousin cought a 40" spotted Muskie with a jug before. It was great.

  • I'm really looking forward to try this... thanks for uploading Fat boy Dan!!!!!

  • Yea seriously, what is the "string" cause it looks like 550 cord to me.

  • hey budy what kind of string do you use for make the jugs

  • Thanks FatBoy, good word, I'll let you know how I do. If I have 15 feet of line and I'm fishing in 10' of water, how do i keep the jug from letting all of my excess line out? Would a rubber band work?

  • please someone tell me if juging is legal in iowa.......I NEED TO KNO

  • @jomama969

yes jug fishing is legal in iowa i should know because that is part of commerical fishing for catfish that is how i know kyledog1218

  • thanks for makeing this video

  • what "string" do you use?

  • on sunshine do u put a brick on her cuz im buying 1 already in my shopping cart

  • I use the lead sinker that comes with it cause i run them in creeks right of the river you can use bigger sinkers to hold it in place if you need to

  • hey fat boy dan good video enjoyed watchin funny also!!!!

  • how big of a fish can u get on the 20 ounce??

  • 20 OUNCE whould be the sinker yull use to keep it from floating away

  • does anyone know if jug lines are legal in minnesota???, and what are regulations for setting jug lines and if u r under the age what are the rules 4 that. PLEASE PLEASE RESPOND! THANKS

  • fat boy you sould go trotlineing

  • I do some times

  • what kind of rope/string is that??

  • Yes use bait as in worms, shad live fish dead fish and so on

  • lol...marker "buyous" pronounced boowee dude

  • great ideas Dan , thank you for your ideas.

  • does any one know if jug lines r legal in ILLInois, and what r regulations for setting jug lines and if u r under the age of 16 what r the rules 4 that.PLEASE RESPOND

  • Yes u may use jug lines no more then 5 i think

  • gatorade bottles are great for jug fishin cuz it has an indention all the way around in the middle to tie your line in

  • how about pool noodles they work just ass good

  • fishin for flatheads too?

  • would this work in a 9 foot deep pond

  • sure whould

  • oh hell ya dude me and my grandpa have set jugs in 75 foot of water before....

  • when you use the spray paint you gotta make sure it is for plastic. i used a metal paint and it looks nothing like blaze orange

  • hey man im confused. is it ok if your jug does not float like if it is a lil bit under the surface. and if not then how much slack line is ok after the weight has reached bottom?

  • Dont have it under water a little, just let it hit bottom then let out about 2 feet more of line out

  • so i got to make sure my weight hits the bottoms of the pond?? But thats like atleast 30feet or so.... ?

  • yes or you can let them free float but its better to let them hit bottom if its 30feet try around 10feet right now

  • I LOVE the intros!!! Love the tune cant get it out of my head lol

  • very informative im lovin it. good stuff son

  • lolz a fuckin brick

  • Bunny ears, LOL. Only a dad who taught his kids tie their shoes, could say that so naturally. Would be nice if you would go with a shorter introduce at the beginning of your vids.

  • Gunna go make maybe 10-15 go set em out in some canal down by my grandpas camp in the old Boston Whaler

  • i used a brick but it pulled my 1 liter bottle under water and i didnt catch anything what do i do about that?

  • Sounds like you had to short of line on the bottle wich means the water may have been 15ft deep and your line was only tenn feet. All ways make suer you have a nuff line to have the brick hit bottom an the jug to float around

    FATBOY DAN Here

  • ...screw the top on the jug before you chuck it out.

  • if your using a 1 letre bottle you dont need something as big as a brick, 1 letre jugs are for smaller fish, so use 2-3 pinch sinkers or a normal sinker

  • The brick makes sure you bottle dont end up down river when a big fish is on

  • Ohhh i see.. cool thanks :) ... Just added a video response to your video... a vid I made the other day! check it out :)

  • Cool...

  • does the weight need to touch the bottom?

  • it dont have to but i might drift if it doesnt...

  • heck yea its all about jug fishing and trot lines......redneck fishin>traditional fishing

  • i went fishing on my lake with live bluegill in january and i used a carolina rig and we have 30-50 pound giant catfish, casted it out about 30 feet and let it sit for 25 minutes and didn't catch anything..... you have any clue if im doing something wrong or not, please respond thanks.

  • because you are fishing in january go in march-september

  • one thing is live blue gill are beter bait for flat head and wich flat heads bite better when the water is warmer say around may june and so on Try useing some cut bait as in skip jack or shad and look for cover or right now whould be deer holes

  • I catch flatheads all year-round. Either cut your Bluegill in half or try fishing them in Shallow water. During the day in the winter Flatheads move shallow when the sun is out to seek food. If you cut the bluegill in half you can fish deep...the blood wll draw them in. Let me know how many you catch!!!

  • try chuming the water a little bit

  • BRICKS LOL

  • do u haft to put the brick or weight

  • No you can just add a hook on let float

  • what kind of string do you use

    that is real cool

  • If only this type of fishing was legal in NewZealand. =D

  • my friend uses parachute cord.

  • hello bud how are you doing i've just got thew watch your vid cool, how does jugging work

  • I just had to stop about half way through when you said your using bricks as weights. That's rigging something up just like a redneck. Don't mean no insult in that. That right there is how you get your shit handled. Mad respect.

  • thank

  • thanks brotha i went jug fishing at like 10:00 PM last night and i caught a nice 5 pounders chicken liver is awesome bait

  • I fish inland in Michigan and I tried jug fishing with chicken liver and didn't have any luck. Is the chicken liver supposed to sit out for a while and stink up, or do you use it as is from the store?

  • i just use straight from the store but i leave some out in a cup just for the hell of it

  • I bought a marker bouy today and it has 75 feet of white string on it - I also have some 30lb test fishing line. Should I use the fishing line or is the white string ok? FBD you are the man!

  • i still got on mine the white string

  • i cant wait to try dis out lmao i saw this on something about jub fishing on CMT so ima do it outa my pirogue thanks

  • You saw my video on CMT?

  • oh no this is dah same person i saw this chick on CMT so i am getting into it

  • Fat boy Dan you rock, Fat boys 4 life!

  • i like to use 1 liter bottles for bigger fish because when the take the bait and start to pull its small enough to go under the water but to big for them to take to the bottom so when they take it under the water it pops back above the water with enough force to hook them

  • You are tha man FatBoy Dan!

  • i use styrofoam pool noodles cut into sections with the line on em, then when a fish is on em they stand up vertically, it works

  • I fish for alot o cat, your videos are great, I gots to get me sum jugs.

  • Well i will have my own lights that go in them soon

  • it really does work i caught a big catfish and carp with it. THANK YOU I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!

  • THANKS

  • what r u baitn the jugs with

  • I use worms, shadguts, cutshad, dipbait or live blue gills

  • hey if i paint the clear bottle from the inside will it still glow a little if i put a glowstick inside it too?

oh and by the way, are hunter and sunshine made out of dumbells for the swimming pool with the sand dumped out?

  • Yes it will help the glow stck light up better from being painted and hunter and sunshine are boyu markers like the bas pros use to mark a good fishing spot

  • 1 question, whats the difference between float fishing a jug fishing. only difference i see is no rod is used in jug fishing and jugs r bigger than floats in size.

  • with jugs... the fish hook themselves

    AverageFisherman

  • Well said AverageFisherman

  • bigcatfishin (P.M. SENT

  • this is helpful. 5*

  • hey dan thanks for makin this one its great

  • Some cool tips but like Dimebag579 says, not legal in the UK. It does remind me of an old poachers trick of tying flies to a floating log.

  • good video dan!

  • you need to learn to snell your hooks Dan.. it helps your hook up rate believe it or not

  • nice... i do mine quite a bit different though.

like the paint tip... ill have to use that

  • nice vid!

  • i love yur commentary!!you rock the fish right outa da Cat!!

  • what happened to ur jug-n-lights?

  • Still got the jug-n-lights and my ownim working on.

  • cool!

  • sadly here in my part of town (england) i dont think jug fishing is allowed so i am going to haver to stick to my rod and reel and a bit of live bait but if i find myself in your neck of the woods then i will defo give that a try!

  • dans the man

  • Arbor knots work good for tying to your jug.

I use jugs mostly for pond turtles so I like them to free float. I use a 3oz or smaller weight.

Paint tip was awesome...I've been repainting mine every year. Doing it your way from now on.

I like soda bottles cause you can wind the line around the neck and drop the hook in the bottle. And you can get those 2 liter carrying racks from some convenience stores.

  • I do Arbor knots on my reels but the can work to on jugs.

  • dude. that ole school oven rocks! we don't fish so I don't think we need a jug. LOL!

  • Excellent video Dan ! We can't jug fish in Michigan , darn it!!!

  • Always value for your money your videos Lol :)

  • PEACE and LOVE!
