  • it's a very very bad work!!

  • Put fish in their that will demolish those predators of Florida that like to be near water like a red tail catfish or a silver arowana :)

  • What other fish

  • What is the and more

  • sorry if someone already asked this but about how much did building this cost? not including the fish..mostly the materials

  • minut 0:53

  • turned out GREAT!

  • I liked your pond so much, I also made a pond for cichlids.

I wonder if you put a thermostate for march and april, no cold days beside 'em :D

  • put some koi in it

  • nice but unlevel

  • lol if it was up to me fancy guppys, plattys, swordtails and mollys XD

  • Hi please can you give me an explanation on how you fit a waterfall to a pond. Thanks.

  • I just love all these comments - not just religion and politics it seems. 'Don't you think you should have used..., Don't you think you should have done..., Does the water look level, clean, blue , clear, et, etc.

I think your pond looks great - period.

  • did you put a fillter and all that crap in it or is it natrul

  • sweet pond well done but how long did it tkae to fill up?

  • great looking pond. Are you happy with the black pond liner? or would a light blue liner of been better for seeing the fish? It looks quite dark in there to be able to enjoy cichlids... great looking pond tho!

  • Pond is going on three years now and I havent lost a koi. The cichlids keep to themselves and aggression is limited to other cichlids. Its large enough to house all cichilds and koi just fine. The koi DO keep population control on the tadpoles and baby Koi and Goldfish. Things stay in balance nicely!!

  • PS

Did you guys use a level at all ???

The water line is about 6" lower from rim on one side!

  • The Pond IS level. It however is built on a slope which is why it looks the way it does.

  • I Like your pond But have to say you went to such great depths for a succsessfull job very well laid out and going with block why not put a ledge in so you dont see the rubber above the water?? Makes all the difference in the world

    Regards

  • Did you not see the end result? There is shale stone as a ledge and you cannot see the liner.

  • dude the pond looks great but the fish selection...thats a recipe for complete disaster.... the cichlids will kill off everything in that pond.... and the koi wouuld probly eat some of the guppies.... youd have a hell of a time catching them but if you want to fix it then decide on strictly cichlids, koi and other goldfish. Or community fish like the dainos and the mollies and guppies , ect... if you like the variety then stick the community fish or the cichlids (not together).....

  • (this is a continuation of the below comment...or if you like the colour then get a bunch of different styles of koi.

  • 3 years and the pond fish are surviving. The cichlids keep to themselvs and serve as population control. Not a single Koi has been killed off by Cichlids. The other tropicals are intended as food for the cichlids itself. They reproduce often and provide a food source for the cichlids.. This keeps their aggression in check towards the bigger Koi and goldfish.

  • lol well then your lucky , if this were set up in an aquarium then they wouldnt stand a chance, ive got a small tanks filled with african cichlids , mostly mbuna from lake malawi and i just watched them tear one of their own apart last night :P

  • LOL!! the lessons learned in aquariums 60, 100, 400 gallons, etc are quite altered in ponds. My pond is 7000 gallons and the rules change a bit. Cichlids can comfortably claim their territories and the other fish like Goldfish and Koi know how to respect these territories. Food is plentiful so the cichlids are full and happy. Happy fish = peaceful scenarios

  • If you add swordtails-platys you will get some amazing colors as they do great in ponds in Florida

  • I missed the part were he drills on the bottom of the pond, is that the intake that goes up to the filter, I see also a pipe in teh sand this is built a little diffrent than i see on youtube, any help would be appriciated

  • I do have plumbing under the pond. The intake is below the pond and leads to the filter system. This is a florida pond so because we have sand and not dirty or rocks it makes digging easy. Plumbing below the pond isnt nessesarily an option for all ponds.

  • We have like loose loose dust, We live next to mexico border in laredo texas, This idea sounds like something I could use, It's like a desert here, anyways I'll be doing some research on something like this, it should be very helpful, if you look at my vid of guinea pigs you will see no grass

  • you should put some turtles in thier

  • turtles add to the bioload of a pond and the bigger they are the messier they are. Its not always the best creature to keep with especially in a closed environment like a pond. I was wanting one but have opted to not go for it. I also have lots of baby fish and dont want a predator turtle snacking on my fish.

  • I like the design but what aterial did you put over teh concrete blocks, is it like a mat or carpet..I live in south texas were it is 80+ in winter and 110+ in summer, so I think i would do o.k in a pond,

  • I also had a pond in the Philippines where i have a dozen kois, 2 large pacu, 1 large oscar, a flowerhorn and 3 eels. My kois then were all morethan 8" long. I also throw in a dozen of feeders every two weeks or til they are consumed. But for the aggression between the cichlids and the kois, I could say there were no problems.

  • would it not be to cold for some of those fish

  • not in Florida as many of them are now found commonly in all water ways, lakes, streams etc due to their adaptability... Pond stays heated as well.

  • Amazingly everything is fine to date with zero agreesion issues todate. Some of the oscars are at 8-9 inches and and koi are similar too. With the plenty of room and diet for the pickings. Large Anachris forest under water as well help keep each other out of direct eyes view from cichlids and other top fish.

    So far so good.

  • Could those Chichilds live in those conditions or not be agressive with the koi?

  • i always liked this kind of thing.
